As we return to school after the holiday weekend, we want to let you know that FCPS will continue universal masking for all students and staff
FCPS continues to require universal mask wearing in alignment with CDC guidance. Our layered prevention strategies have proven effective in keeping transmission rates low in our schools. We know our students are best served by in-person instruction. Adhering to our layered prevention strategies, especially universal masking, keeps our schools open and safe places for students to learn.
FCPS is reviewing Governor Youngkin’s executive order issued this weekend. As we have throughout the pandemic, we will continue to share any updated information with you around FCPS COVID-19 practices and protocols as needed. You can review current health and safety guidelines on our website.

Actually, any parent who wants the school to rule the kids, and overrule parental rights should send their kid to a private school that does that. One problem Youngkin faces is public opinion. The majority of fcps parents and their children believe masks save lives. These people will freak out and panic hysterically if anyone shows up at school not wearing a mask. Oddly, these same parents, while putting their masked kids on the bus, do not wear masks themselves as they stand around together at the bus stops.
Youngkin should start a robust public education campaign citing reputable sources which show clear evidence that masks do nothing to stop the spread and do much to harm young children.
