Admittedly I don't have any first or even second hand confirmation of this, but it's obvious that the only reason to keep the schools closed on Thursday for a snow that stopped by noon on Monday is because they want to have the teachers and students isolate for a week after returning from vacation.

No they just want to do nothing at home instead of coming to work to do nothing. They can be with their pillow, blankie, TV, Netflix, cats, and dogs plus many delicious snacks. They are lazy fucking assholes! Such bullshit! They will milk this as long as they fucking can.

Lazy fucking assholes? Yeah ok. Sooner rather than later I’m betting we see the ramifications of a huge teacher shortage. It’s already beginning to rear it’s ugly head. Watch what the new year brings, not to mention the 22-23 school year.

Like most menial jobs we'll probably automate most of it before long anyway and you'll lose all your precious union bennies. Until then we could get new teachers any time we want standing outside 7/11 or from Craigslist.

Sure teachers are overpaid. The same could be said for almost everyone who is working a job that does not involve hard physical labor. They are no more overpaid than whatever job you are doing. As market conditions now stand Fairfax County could probably afford to replace about 10% of its teacher workforce each year. Anything above that would mean having to pay starting teachers more or seeing a huge drop off in quality.
If we learned anything from last year's virtual teaching fiasco it is that there is no modern electronic or automated learning system that on a mass basis works anywhere near as good as a trained and motivated teacher working hands on with students in the classroom.
Most teachers are good at their jobs. The problem is in the school administration. Political and professional.

the kids definitely should have had school today and regardless of the forecast for tomorrow, they would have waited until actual snow was falling to close tomorrow..
