Verizon bad, alternatives?

There is a saying paraphrased - Broad is the gate or road that leads to destruction, and narrow is the gate or road that leads to life. Verizon is on the broad one. As a number of reviews indicate Google, BBB, Site Jaabber, Trust Pilot, and others, Verizon takes your money and more often wastes your time with poor customer service and technical support. A number of them there I found do not fully know the technology behind some of their products like LTE network extenders and Stir Shaken leading to very frustrating experiences with them troubleshooting life's difficult tech problems. Recently even a long time veteran in their phone tech support department less than credible in my mind claiming he never heard of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STIR/SHAKEN which is supposed to help much with robocalls, on FIOS landline it does not here, even though the company press releases said it was rolled out June 30. In experience Nomorobo been around for years, but it blocks some legitimate automated calls from Rx and other.

For wireless cell phone and smartphone service with many but not all the extra bells and whistles, found a much smaller provider MVNO third party reseller https://www.charitymobile.com/ (ika narrow road) leaning right in what they believe and truly best in class in support and service which have been with them 2.5 years. Another one to consider is https://www.patriotmobile.com/ is also right leaning, but I do have not have first hand experience with them, other than the information on their website.

As far as I can find, both of these providers do not offer landline Voice Over IP FIOS like phone service where currently very dissatisfied with Verizon. Looking for VOIP IP landline phone service with great 4-5 star customer service and robocall blocking tech that does not block legitimate calls. Only Verizon and Dish available in the neighborhood (had bad experience with satellite service years ago), and Cox and Xfinity/Comcast are not. Though I almost entirely use mobile/wireless, an older relative in the house mostly uses the landline phone. Suggestions?

Have fully read this. Are you looking for a VOIP phone provider to whom you can port your current landline phone number to?

Part 2 (read what relevant to you)

Verizon spends many billions on acquisitions; most recently Tracfone for $6 billion; British Telecom years ago $130 billion; and a number of others; while customer service and training of some front customer facing employees suffer.

Verizon is not simple tech friendly for many senior citizen needs:
- When call 800 number, welcome to Verizon, interested in voice biometrics to authenticate you?
- Booming music in two local Verizon stores when last visited, Fair Oaks and Tysons, which difficult to talk over and more a problem if have hearing loss.
- Years away they did away with the smartphone training, mostly seniors, likely as a cost cutting move.
- There are others, similar to AT&T and T-Mobile.

Network engineers at Verizon generally do good to lay cable and put up towers and mostly maintain them at a large scale, but sometimes what they actually do in reality is lacking in communication to phone tech support and other groups within the company.

In last little over three years, wasted hours, even a couple of days of life with their poor customer service. I am not alone, thousands waste time with Verizon's poor customer service at at https://www.bbb.org/us/ny/new-york/profile/telecommunications/verizon-communications-0121-411 and https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/san-francisco/profile/mobile-phone-service/verizon-wireless-1116-39946

Seriously, read on a wider laptop screen in 2-3 minutes. If reading on a 5-6 inch narrow smartphone screen in portrait mode, I can see how you say how it is long.

Very much agree! And they have closed their Verizon Experience store in Fair Oaks Mall with wireless and FIOS replacing it with Russell Cellular, a 3rd party reseller. As a consumer, if your transaction goes bad i.e. bad phone, you are liable in contracts with both Russell and Verizon.

Every week where Verizon's Stir Shaken is failing much, still getting a few spam calls a day on up in years relative's FIOS landline who has periodic fall issues not needing unnecessary trips in the house for these crap calls, this thread is getting bumped. Verizon tech support by 800# said just deal with it - unacceptable! Verizon, enough is enough. Maybe one of Verizon's employees will read this and do something helpful. Until then you have an advertising detractor.

Much longer pieces at FxUg and online news websites. Some other people are interested seeing the number of views on this post. If not relevant to you, then not read it. We all have to pick and choose based on our needs what we read on the internet. Too much information on the world wide web for each of us to read it all.

I switched to At&T. No complaints so far. I have been its customer for more than 1 year already. As for my own business I gave preference to https://www.tregroup.net/. It is even more reliable than At&T and has way more functions. Highly recommend!
