I wonder how well they are doing based off the podcast at this point? WTL isn't in here every second screaming about how the whole business will collapse any second and the guys seem to be reinvesting in the show, which they wouldn't be doing if it were a money sink.

Yeah I think I’ve come full circle on WTL towards your perspective. Don’t get me wrong…I like him and enjoy debating shit with him…but the ratio of what he knows/thinks he knows about any given topic relative to the authority in which he speaks about said topic is often times quite comical.

IMO, opinion he’s the most full of shit poster on this site…and I don’t mean that in a negative way. It’s not that he doesn’t know anything, it’s that he THINKS he knows EVERYTHING!!!

Weseasl and Radiophile are far worse. But you guys are correct this podcast not doing very well is about the only thing hes ever been somewhat right about.

That said they probably arent doing that well but get enough money from the Hoard from it. I mean really they have 0 expenses as far as the show goes I doubt anyone but Chad Oscar and maybe Drab get a penny from the show and im pretty sure they either own the equipment already or borrow the WJFK recording stuff to do the show

What’s up chadreallysucks? I haven’t seen you in around here in a while. I agree that operating costs at this point are probably quite minimal but I wouldn’t say they are non-existent. That said, I certainly agree that the majority of $$$ spent to get an operation like this off the ground is probably spent up front with the marginal costs being relatively small… but what the fuck do I know?

I’m almost 100% certain that I’ve heard them say on several occasions that proceeds from the Podcast are an even three way split. I would assume that means Reloaded, merchandise and appearance fees are all split….but again, who knows?

Also, I would imagine that Oscar and Chad do/did all of the upfront investing(equipment etc…) so who knows how/if that affects their split. Either way, I’m surprised BOAD and the Failcast are still operational. Maybe podcasts aren’t as big a money sinkhole as everybody thinks.

Mike and Oscar would always bring up bandwidth, how much does that cost, really?

That was a really good episode in my opinion. Could have been 2+ hours of talk if they had commercials and callers but a solid hour. That's what they need to get more people on board.

If Chad would stop whining about RTH from two weeks back, the show would be even better. But I agree completely, the latest shows without peanut gallery drama have been really good. And thanks be to jebus, all the outer banks crap was crammed into the "hogcast", which seems to be a win-win. Dukes still gets to surround himself with yes men, and if you want, you can listen to it. But it doesn't take away from the regular show. Not sure if Dave is still reading the thread, but mission accomplished, at least for the time being.

I honestly don't know why anyone would seek out his opinion on food and beverages. Over the 5 years or so I've followed BOAD, Dukes has proven himself to be someone who will eat nearly anything and drink nearly anything. I mean he loves all fast food and has no problem drinking Busch beer. In fact he was seeking out Natural Light at one point. This isn't exactly a discerning palate.

He just does it to try and get free stuff. If they give him free stuff they continue, if not hes out on them and moves onto the next try

Whats up man, I havent been around a whole lot. The whole site has become insufferable with all the pathetic threads from weseal about bullshit. But I still check this thread from time to time.

As far as the split it really should be even if not the most to drab since I think hes the one who does all the hard work and chad and oscar just do the 2 hours and let drab do the rest, maybe Im wrong though and they do more.

I definitely agree theyre start up costs have long been covered and their expenses have to be minimal at best now. Probably just domain name fees and server space. Cant be more than 5 grand a year absolute high end maximum.

If you just scroll through itunes at all podcasts are EVERYWHERE. I cant imagine they cost much as it seems that anyone with an internet connection and a mic can make one if they want too.

No one watches these streams. Sounds like BOAD and TMOS have about the same number of viewers, ~200. Most likely people who are already buying the "premium" shows. Why spend thousands of dollars to stroke your own ego? Who cares about Ustream? And BOAD keep teasing the unthinkable, taking live calls. That would pretty much guarantee I stop listening. I'm not sure, but it looks like libsyn offers unlimited downloads, which makes it seem like the $75 a month plan would be fine for hosting the .mp3s. I have no idea if iTunes charges to host free content, I think ~$100 a month for the rest of the site would be reasonable. Drab still drives an old-ass bmw and lives in a rented place, Chad seems to hate commuting but hasn't moved anywhere closer, and has a (seemingly) worthless tenant in his basement. Oscar has a tiny 1 bedroom condo in DC. His used A4 shouldn't have been more than $30-$40K tops, and he has a full time job and another podcast. In summary, nothing points to the guys raking in the cash. Dukes still hasn't purchased his own set of bases for whiffle ball, if twitter is any indication. Well chad bought a townhouse and Oscar bought a condo in dc. I don't think they are claiming they make so much cash they can buy and sell houses on a whim.

Oscar does not have a used Audi from what he has said. It is brand new and is a lease.

Drab probably makes a fairly crappy salary at wjfk but he IS paying like 1200 a month in rent.

Overall no one ever said they were raking in cash but I bet they are making a decent profit off of the show.

Unfortunately satellite seems to be run by the same brand of idiots that run radio. As Opie said the other day, "Congratulations, you've made satellite just like regular radio."

They have Stern, O&A, and Ron and Fez. For me, I don't need much else. I'm up too early to hear either show live, so I listen to the replay on the way home. With that said, it would be cool if they became a refuge for real talk radio, but at this point I wouldn't even be surprised if O&A leave this fall.

Apparently Dukes did talk to Sirius/XM after JFK flipped, and they told him they had enough talk shows. He mentioned that when he called into O&A a few months ago.

Would sirius really get new subscribers just for BOAD? Those other shows have a much bigger audience.

They've never been as bad as O'Meara was/is about it. I don't listen to MOMS hardly ever, but he was adamant at the beginning that he wasn't just some "podcaster" and that he was a "real" broadcaster. Then he did that "Internet Radio Tommy" character to apparently make fun of other podcasters. Never mind that big names podcast now and are more successful than his show. FWIW, I don't remember Dukes and O taking it that far. Maybe Dukes would, but I think Oscar was the one who recognized podcasting as legit in the case of both shows.

I forgot to put my XM in my car the other night after cleaning it, and I ALMOST turned on 106.7 in the afternoon to hear some talk rather than music. Then I realized I don't even have the preset anymore, plus WTOP and WAMU tend to be more entertaining that those two.

Old timer radio guys just can't come to grips with the fact that podcasting is a viable medium now. Guys like MOM and the decrepit old radio farts that hang out on DCRTV all day bash the living hell out of podcasters because they refuse to acknowledge them as "real" radio guys. It smacks of bitterness merely because these old farts can't adapt.

Listen to Uhh Yeah Dude which is hosted by 2 guys who aren't professional broadcasters and it blows anything BOaD or MOM (or Don Geronimo) have EVER produced out of the water.

Just be entertaining, I don't think anyone cares that you used to be on the radio at one time.

Just caught the Beer and Pig Hogcast from last week. Why is Chad still pissing and whining about the Rally the Horde? He might as well shut the whole podcast thing down. No one is going to want to listen two 2 hours of a z list local market radio "celebrity" rant on about who hasn't fluffed his ego enough. He made his point a few weeks ago with that deliciously awkward confrontational episode where he skewered those guys. Its just not compelling listening and its never going to be picked up by either satellite or terrestrial radio if this is all he does. Unfortunately Drab, who usually is the voice of balance to Sisson's bullshit ranting making it all about himself, has hopped on the good foot and keeping his mouth shut. So much for balance. We now get 2 hours of Sisson bitching interrupted only with him denigrating members of his crew to break up the monotony.

More Dukes Facebook de-friending today. Somebody makes a comment about farting and liking Gotye and he's not only de-friended, but called out by Dukes as being such.

But the truly sad part is that this sad sack then posts "De-friended by my hero." as his status. As long as lemmings like this exist, Dukes' malignantly cancerous ego will continue to metastasize.

Has anyone listened to RTH since the childish hissy fit Chad threw? I figured it was done for but I just saw that a new show got put up a few days ago. Is it approaching anything interesting or did Chad totally cut its nuts off for hurting his feelings?

The July 3 podcast "The Sound and the Fury" was admittedly the only episode I listed to since November, primarily because of the discussion and attention it got on this thread. I tuned out of this show 8 months ago because it really stopped being engaging and devolved into a lame soap opera with sad and uninteresting characters.

If you haven't guessed it by now, his friends are generally not people who have a lot going on in their life. They are losers and pot heads (or both) who need to be told what to do in life. So Chad takes a dump on them, they say thank you and keep waiting around for him to do it again.

Ive given up on this show-took it off itunes and funny, Ive taken the opposite view on TMOS. I think that show, is getting a bigger audience-and the maine shows have been good. So for a while I was thinking tmos was never gonna make it. I think its turned the corner and they do seem to be getting more sponsors...this show is the just the same old chad drama crap. Its not compelling enough to download. Im done with it

Mike and Mike is bad, buts its better than Lavar and Dukes. That would be a program upgrade

I wonder if this "married" thing is some weird shtick. I distinctly remember that picture of the wrestling rings being posted to Chad's FB several months ago so it's not a current picture. Not that he couldn't have gone to the courthouse as suggested but this seems really out of character for him.

That arrangement is more along the lines of the "FOX Sports Radio" programming they run on weekends/overnight. It doesn't do much for branding when you have updates from the CSN sports desk, updates from CBS news, and off-hour banter from Fox. The weekend programming will be branded CBS.

Did anybody hear Lavar’s comments on PSU yesterday? They played it on Comcast Sports Net last night. As expected it was Lavar’s typical, inarticulate hodge-podge of semi-coherent incomplete sentences.

Sounds exactly like why I don't even have 106.7 as a preset in my car anymore.

Sports talk is an OK way to waste time. Before I had XM, I would find the local ESPN or whatever while on a road trip just to pass some time.

Speak for yourself. IMO, Lavar has done this entire area a great service by going into broadcasting now that his playing days are behind him and I just knew that I could count on him to come here and post the truth for all of us. Lavar and Chad deliver radio gold on a consistent basis.

Dukes' insistance that his marriage not be a "big deal" is pure Dukes.

I stopped listening about 3 months ago. I keep getting episodes downloaded from iTunes, but I haven't brought myself to listen to any of them. I read what I need to know on here, that about covers it.

I havent listened to the shows yet today but on last weeks Minority Report Sven got all emo and cried about his life and how he really needed to change and he was going to take a hiatus from the show, be marginally involved in the main show if at all, hes going to move out of his house with his horrible family that he loves anyway, he's gonna go to a lot of therapy, and try and stay on his meds, and hes going to REALLY REALLY try not to whore himself around town a dozen times a week, etc.


I imagine this might please some people, I felt I little bad for the guy but he might be a TAD overdramatic....

Also Zohan sucked his metaphorical dick to make him feel better about how it's their show and he'll miss him a lot

Unrelated buy kind of creepy if you listen to it, they were taping this the night of the batman opening, Zohan says at least 3 times in the podcast something about going crazy and shooting people or something along those lines. I kept forgetting it was taped beforehand and thinking he was being a total dick

Getting the hell away from the show and its members is a good idea. Chad is a walking piece of shit who will just crap on Sven and seems to delight in the dangerous sexual escapades Sven partakes in, thereby promoting him to do them. Oscar doesn't care about him at all and the rest of that group, outside of Drab, are such colossal losers (so are Chad and Oscar, to be honest) that it doesn't seem like Sven would have anyone to model his behavior after.

And Zohan is aggressively unfunny.

The free show this week is all Dukes wedding coverage. Yabels' post above pretty much sums it up.

The pay show was all analysis and discussion of Sven's emotional breakdown and announcement that he's quitting the Minority Report, complete with audio clips and from said show. It eventually morphs into Chad relentlessly ripping on Zohan, so you might like it if you hate Zohan, but if you're one of the many that is not a fan of Sven's gay drama, you might want to stay away.

The Reloaded this week was amazing. They filet Zohan like i've never heard before. There was a line on the latest Minority Report that, when O and D heard it, they just explode with laughter and cut Zohan to shreds afterwards. Worth it IMO.

Chad will always keep Sven close. Who else will he experiment his gay tendencies with?

Yeah, operating a podcast can't be an incredible money sink hole or else they would have stopped. Given how many podcasts are out there I guess they must not be too expensive to operate. How much money does RTH or the Minority Report generate? Nothing...but once the upfront costs are paid for the costs of producing additional content must be rather insignificant.
