The top billing is really surprising. I mean it isn't like no one knows who Danny is at this point, including BOAD fans.

Seriously. Sven wrote that like someone who just called into work after getting a warning that he calls in too much. Instead, he is writing to his "friend" about going to the bar. Pathetic that someone puts themself through that.

It was another step in the right direction. The one thing that was missing from the discussion about Dukes' short lived interests was his rage against anyone who brings up the things he has soured on. It would be a full time job to keep up with all the topics Chad has done a 180 on. Or a second 180. Losing interest in a TV show, for example, is one thing (even after it was the greatest thing in the world a week prior), but when anything you stop being a fan of is instantly "stupid and for retards" and mentioning that topic again on social media is grounds for ridicule, it goes beyond changing interests.

Remember during one of the soccer rants when he complained that some of the guys that joined him for his month-long obsession with rugby actually CONTINUED PLAYING after he quit? He was appalled that these guys HE put together would have the nerve to continue playing a sport they like after he quit. Just how he is annoyed that guys like Smokehand, Drab, and Oscar would play soccer together, since they wouldn't know each other if it weren't for HIM. How dare they do something without him? If chad axes Rally the Horde because it was critical of him that would probably be the last straw.

A show a month is plenty and gives the RTH people something to talk about, rather than going over two hours work of content each week.

Wow! One of the major reasons people are on facebook is to share their lives with family and friends. I watched about 10 minutes of Chad being a pathetic hypocrite and terrible friend and I couldn't take it any more.

The free show ran almost an hour and a half, Chad in full supernova mode for pretty much the whole time. When it became clear that Drab couldn't win the argument (not for any logical reasons, really, just because Chad was willing to shout him down for as long as it was going to take), Drab then repeatedly tried to quit RTH. Chad, though, claimed that that was "the coward's way out" and insisted that Drab had to continue doing the show, with the caveat now that they could say whatever they want because Chad was going to stop listening (yeah, right). So it was left that Drab, now under direct order from Lord Dukes, had to continue doing the RTH show, and that for the foreseeable future the Big O and Dukes Show was going to be flipped to the "ten boring stories" topical format that "you all want" (the preceding quotes paraphrasing Chad). They did a sort of half-hearted version of that for the pay show that was actually pretty entertaining, Chad's rage subsiding and giving way to more of a bitter but good natured ribbing.

Drab, of course took about 80% of the beating, the rest split between Creasy, Smokehand, and "that idiot that runs your board" (Dave). Should be interesting seeing how many of Chad's furious decrees are actually stuck to during next week's cycle of shows. I'd imagine few if any, and I can't imagine Dave will be "in" for very much longer - Drab, Dick, and Dan aren't going anywhere (unless by their own choosing) while Dave has dared challenge the Lord before weaseling his way far enough into his inner circle.

Every time I listen to an episode of BOAD, I try to imagine what a new listener would think if they downloaded and listened to the show for the first time.

I don't remember many of them, mostly because they sucked. I was shocked that he even referred to that shit as "radio gold" because I know for me my favorite BOAD moments do not include this cast whatsoever. This new reincarnation of the show with the "peanut gallery" just isn't working, and more importantly IS NOT INTERESTING.

This show is going downhill fast and after that last episode I don't think I can listen to this show anymore.

None of the peanut gallery stores are compelling nor are they memorable. I don't remember any of them because I either fast forward through them, or turn it off when they take over the show. It is radio gold because Chad does not have to do anything other than sit there and yell "WHAT!?" or cackle at some unfunny story being told by someone who doesn't know how to talk on a microphone.

Right. The show has zero appeal for a new listener. It barely has any appeal for old listeners.

Stories from the peanut gallery are basically Chad stories. Chad goes to the beach house (good thing RTH blew up, or else we probably would have had an hour of Chad bitching about how Creasy didn't say thank you every hour in NC), Chad plays ultimate frisbee, Chad and co. go to the bar. There is hardly ever a "Guess what did over the weekend?" If so, Dukes would probably bitch about how one of "his" guys did something without him. The peanut gallery is just an extension of Chad. One thing RTH failed to do, is that they described these guys as "Chad and Oscar's friends". How many of them hang out with Oscar? I think Creasy has a few times since they live near each other. How many were brought in by Oscar? Besides that soccer game and RTH, Oscar and Drab have nothing to do with them.

If you look at shows like Stern or O&A, when their "characters" provide input to the show, it is something interesting they did on their own. Sam or ERock went to a wrestling show. Troy Quan had some crazy weekend. Sal is working on some movie. Ronnie and co. are doing those block party things. JD watched a ton of porn over the weekend. Rarely are Howard, Fred, Gary, Robin, Opie or Anthony involved in the "characters" stories. With BOAD, Chad is almost always a part of them, which is why it is the "Chad Dukes and Friends Show with Oscar Santana, produced by Drab".

Chad wouldn't stop yelling how he "knows radio" and knows "what works", and basically saying BOAD was his product "sorry Oscar" along with how great the peanut gallery contributions are. (I can't think of a single good story from the peanut gallery) aEven his tweets were crap like "talk radio isn't dead". This is so insane because: 1) This isn't radio. 2) Talk radio IS dead 3) even if 1 and 2 were false, the show with Chad's Wacky Friends Format is not going to work anywhere, satellite or terrestrial. No one cares what a park ranger does at some mediocre sports show DJ's beach house. Reloaded was actually pretty good, even with Chad's passive aggressive whining throughout.

So, which one is Chad?...

I'm in for one more RTH to see if Chad sufficienty forced everyone to bow down to him. He has total control over the show and ultimately will get what he wants out of it. Maybe Dave is starting to see what we were all telling him. Chad may not directly say YOU CANT TALK ABOUT THIS, but if he finds out someone didn't praise him all show then he will destroy that person on air and alter their involvement in the show.

I watched some of the justin.tv thing he did with big rig for a bit. I was probably on 45 minutes after he started it. My first thought was, why the hell would Chad want to stream himself and big rig drinking Miller 64s? ? My second thought was, why am I watching this shit in the first place? About 2 minutes later, Blue Shorts showed up...in Chad's home. When did Chad decide to let that asshole back into his life? Is he that hard up for people to tell him he is great? If any of my "friends" fucked me over to get ahead, and then came crawling back because they needed help, I would have told them to fuck off. I did like hearing that Blue Shorts is working a shit job at some pos restaurant though. Perhaps there were more revelations to be had, but I couldnt stand it after the 10 minutes I was there and I bailed. 10 minutes I will never get back. I only have myself to blame.

I think back to a couple months ago when Chad posted on FB asking for people's favorite stories from the history of BOAD, and he got butthurt on the show because everyone was responding with Oscar, Drab and even intern stories with Chad's name rarely ever coming up. He demonstrated a major lack of self-awareness with that because he is NOT the storyteller of the group. Storytelling is Oscar's forte, and his stories are always the first I think of in remembering the good times of the BOAD podcast (I only know the podcast-era, missed the terrestrial days), with Drab pulling a close second. Chad's best role is being the snarker who makes regular cracks during those stories, but he is not the storyteller himself. Problem with that is the snarker is generally the role of the second, and Chad's alpha-male personality won't let him be a second, so apparently now we've got Chad trying to force his and the Dukes Crew's "stories" like bad memes.

I wonder the same thing. I used to be such a dedicated fan that I would make people cd's of old episodes, and make people listen to my ipod just to become as addicted as I was. If someone asked me to pick an episode to share now, I don't think I would have one. Oscar's story about his cat was the most entertaining story in a long time. As much as it stings, the criticisms should be paid attention to because they come from old fans who are trying to cling to what we know used to be good. We don't need a strict "topic" format, but we are dying for more of O and D's personality. Every minute (and yes it a lot of time) dedicated to planning upcoming events during the recording, or rehashing arguments among people nobody cares about, or discussing other shows, or discussing their own show (pick a random episode and count how many times the word "show" is used, it's neverending) is all time lost. We used to hear about Oscar trying to assist people in car accidents, and drab's beads, and -goddamnit- nannerpuss! Now it's just squabbling and housecleaning. I now a lot of fans have given up, but I am still rooting for the show that could exist.

I don't think we will ever get BOAD back on the air, if we did, it wouldn't be the same.

I think we all saw that one coming. Oh well, Dave and Drab had something for 2-3 episodes there but Chad shut that shit down ASAP. Oscar is such a pussy he didn't even listen to the episode and just ran to Chad's defense.

Oh well, the 'network' actually sort of got relevant and interesting for a few weeks
