i heard a hostage situation

a teen-ager has a hostage/hostages. threatend to burn the house down. pointed shotgun at the poe poe. SOMEBODY'S gonna die.

Again Fairfax Underground ahead of the news.

Farmview Ct, about a mile from Woodson.

I count 43 police/fire vehicles there now, including special teams and a command truck. Two TV tower trucks. All they are saying is male with gun, unknown whether hostages involved. And police say the situation is under control, whatever that means.

And of course all the neighbors are gathering behind the yellow tape to watch, though the yellow tape is too far away to even tell which house it is.

Maybe we'll make the news at 10 :).

all right, so from my perspective there are a ton of cop cars, ambulances, 2 swat mobile command units. one officer in camo w/ sniper rifle in tow, 6 officers with camo were seen with a police dog walking on adjacent streets talking to residents. as far as some of the firework rumors, it seemed more like some kids were shooting those off in an adjacent culdesac and had them confiscated. otherwise any of those who are in the boundaries of the blockade are told not to leave there houses unless absolutely necessary.

FAIRFAX POLICE DEPARTMENT OUT WITH BARRICADED SUBJECT. TAC TEAM UNITS, HELICOPTER, MEDICS ONSCENE.

Electricity cut off to the neighborhood just before 11 pm. Back on now.

Judging by the looks on the officer's faces as they were leaving just before midnight, it was not a happy ending. But they are not saying anything pending notification of the J family.

Police were extremely polite and professional... and there were a lot of them there. Some of the neighbors, particularly a few who live on Nutwood, were jerks. If they park their cars in their driveways instead of on the street then maybe next time the emergency vehicles can get through and threatening to tow will not be necessary.

FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA)-- Fairfax County Police are involved in a barricade situation along the 9500 block of Farmview Court.

Police were called to the scene around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday by the man's family after they say he threatened them, forcing them to leave the home.

When Law Enforcement arrived at the home in Fairfax, they too were reportedly threatened, this time with a weapon. Sources on scene say the man may have had as many as 8 weapons in the home.

The man, believed to be in his late thirties, has been holed up since.

Crisis Negotiators and SWAT teams have been called in, along with dozens of other first responders, including helicopters, as Police seek to end the situation peacefully.

I hope "neighbor" understands that a) the Nutwood residents are not used to having 40+ emergency vehicles on their street b) their homes were built in the 60's and most only have parking for one or two cars in the driveways c) All moved their cars as soon as the police asked them too - prior to that they were instructed to stay in their homes. It was a very sad day for our friend and neighbor and rather than calling people "jerks" you should think about what that poor family is going through now.

It's awful what happened. I wish there was something that could've prevented it. I past by today to see which house it was or see if anything was different. But there was nothing that showed that anything happened, like police tape or anything. Very weird. Does anyone know the whole story how this all happened? And is his family okay?

I met some of our neighbors for the first time last night. Sad that it takes this kind of an event for us to all come out and talk.

I was there as some of the cars were being moved and can tell you that at least two of you are far too possessive of your on-street parking spaces. Go live in a townhouse if you want to act that way. I didn't even know that we had a competition parking battle going on until last night.

Jerks appropriately describes how they acted and what they said. They were clearly more interested in their own convenience than in the friend and neighbor they did not know way down at the end of Farmview. Could it be that you were one of them? If so, you know what you said.

I am painfully aware of how old our houses are. Especially the electrical issues.

Now that you have observed how much space the police and fire trucks need in an emergency, maybe it's time for the neighbors to get together and come up with a solution for this problem before the next fire breaks out. Maybe an agreement to only park on one side of the street is the answer. Or not parking directly across from each other. Or putting the extra vehicles around the corner onto Pickett.

The next emergency might be at your house.

ok so i live on farmview and i had just come back from one of my swim meets and there was cops every were, so the whole story is the guy went crazy or something and he threated to kill his mom if she didnt leave, so she left and caled the cops, and i just kept getting worse and worse until like 11:30 when the swat team came in the house and found the guy dead on the floor. and now it looks like nothing happened

It's a public street. People can park where they want within the limits of the law on that street. Contact Fairfax City or County (whichever side you live on) and present your case for no parking signs if it bothers you that much. Otherwise mind your own fucking business.

I was waiting and waiting all night to find out what happened and now that I find out that he killed himself makes me saddened. Now I find out that there are people who were bickering about the parking.........Makes me want to .......... I won't even go there because I grew up on that st. Those people who want to be punks about the parking should leave this country and go back to where they came from. And if they are White Americans, then move to downtown Herndon and put up with the Salvadoreans. A little late, but I would like to thank our neighbors who kindly offered us shelter, water and restrooms while we waited to see if we could get access to our houses. People that came home after the incident started could not get to their homes. We finally got a SWAT escort into our homes around 1030pm. It was a sad night for our street but I only met nice people who did not care where I had to leave my car.

Was the name of this person ever released? I'm out of the area now and want to make sure it wasn't my friend. Thanks.
