Democratic Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe is so desperate to stop his Republican opponent Glenn Youngkin from winning the election that his supporters have resorted to planting false flag operations at Youngkin’s events in an effort to smear him.

A local NBC reporter shared a picture on Friday morning of a group of people dressed to resemble protesters from the violent 2018 Charlottesville riot. The point, it seems, was to tie Youngkin’s campaign to right-wing extremism or white supremacy:


Not one of these actors is affiliated with Youngkin’s campaign. They’re not even Youngkin supporters. They appear to be Democrats and employees of the Virginia Democratic Party.

One of the men in the group has been unofficially identified as Camden Layton, the finance director for Virginia Young Democrats:

The girl in the group has been unofficially identified as Colleen Wachenfeld (look at the similar body type), another Virginia Democrats employee whose background on Twitter was a picture of McAuliffe at a campaign event:

As soon as their names began to circulate on Twitter, Layton and Wachenfeld scrubbed all of their social media to remove any mention of the Virginia Democratic Party or McAuliffe:

The Virginia Young Democrats made a statement earlier that they were now involved in anyway.

If the mcauliffe campaign was involved in this hoax, it will mark another misstep in a string of horrible moves made by the campaign in the final days. Early yesterday, news broke that McAuliffe had hired election lawsuit specialist Marc Elias, signaling the campaign believes they will lose and will try to reverse the decision after the fact. Later that day, the campaign was caught trying to “kill” the story, but accidentally included Fox News in the reply.

Camden Layton was not posing as a white supremacist, he just thought he had an opportunity to express his true feelings. Democrats are racist to the core. Here he is posing with a fellow Klansman.

The disgraced anti-Trump Democrat supporting group The Lincoln Project is facing intense backlash for claiming to orchestrate the viral hoax involving tiki torch-holding individuals associating themselves with the Youngkin campaign.

"Anyone who continues to associate themselves with The Lincoln Project owns this. This is who you are," Fourth Watch media critic Stever Krakauer wrote.

Others questioned whether or not the Lincoln Project was actually behind the stunt and was simply taking credit, comparing it to ISIS taking credit for various terrorist attacks.

"What's more likely? That the Lincoln Project hired Democratic insiders in Virginia to hold the tiki torch stunt or that they're taking credit for it after it backfired to keep the backlash away from the McAuliffe campaign?" political commentator Josh Jordan wondered.

The statement comes as Twitter users began claiming they had identified the individuals participating in stunt allegedly having ties to Virginia Democrats. The group issued a statement denying they organized the stunt.

A three-judge panel confirmed the final vote in the recount of the House of Delegates race in the 85th District that pitted incumbent Alex Askew (D) against Karen Greenhalgh (R).

Greenhalgh was named the winner with a total of 14,285 votes. Her opponent, Alex Askew, received 14,170 votes. Her win confirms that the Republicans will take control of the General Assembly next year.
