What's with people around here throwing cigarette butts out the car window instead of putting it out in their car's ashtrays? I've witness this all the time parking behind them at the lights.

These people are inconsiderate and are a drag on society as a whole.

Yeah, I love driving behind them when they thrown them out the window and having them bounce up and off my car. It's great.

I get it, "drag." Oh so funny.

I've actually had a cigarette fly into my window before; that was fun times. Burned a tiny hole on my sleeve then flew back out the window.

"I've actually had a cigarette fly into my window before;..."

That's only happened to me when it was my own cigarette (back when I smoked in 1990s).

It was from the passenger side of a car in the lane to the left of mine.

You've had this happen because you don't drive a souped up Toyota two inches off the ground. Thats the only way I can imagine this happening but from now on I'm going to try and bounce my cigarette butts off peoples cars.

Just think of all the revenue $$$ Fairfax County could accumulate if they pull smokers over for littering.

I've heard they will sometimes if they see you throwing it out the window. It's one of their ways of catching drunk drivers. Gives them an excuse to stop a car that hasn't done anything obviously wrong. Never had it happen to me but like I said I have heard of it.

Um, yeah, you're wrong on the account that they "haven't done anything obviously wrong". First off, they're littering. Second, they can be charged with tossing an object at an occupied vehicle. Third, if there is a Fire Weather Watch or Warning, then you can also be charged with that regard.

More non-smokers die everyday than those who smoke.

When I get a ciggy thrown out of a car, and it hits my windshield, I always accelerate my car and get ahead of them and hold down the button for my windshield washer fluid. I've got a killer water resovoir on my non-earth friendly SUV that makes it look like an amusement park water ride when I look in the rear view mirror watching them with thier wipers on the HIGHEST setting desperately trying to clear thier view!. AND I DON'T STOP, TILL THEY SLOW DOWN AND ARE LIKE A QUARTER MILE BEHIND ME. It really is quite funny to see, I must say. And you know every ASSHOLE SMOKER I do this to knows EXACTLY WHY they are getting this treatment.

My oldschool buddy used to do something a little bit more funnier though. He owned a Black V8 Trans Am and would race people. He liked to pick on rice-burners alot. He turned his right washer nozzle to point the stream of water right instead of at the windshield, so as he muscled by them(usually right off the line with little four bangers) he was shooting a stream of water into the other lane, making it look like his car was pissing on thier car.

And the money you saved on windshield washerfluid, can be spent to buy another cigarette I guess.

I didn't mean throwing the cigarette out of the car isn't something "wrong." I just meant it's not speeding or running a light or weaving or whatever other reason they might pull over someone for. Many people, like the poster I quoted, think that they won't pull people over for it. I was just saying they can and I've heard they do, and they particularly will do it when they want to check you out for something else, like whether you're drunk driving. In other words: they wouldn't necessarily often bother unless they are using it as a reason to check you out. I could be wrong about this it's just that's the context I understand it happens most in.

It's my fault. I worded it badly.

That doesn't piss me off nearly as much as somebody who pulls up along side me at light smoking and then hold the cigarette out their window about a foot from my window. Thanks for putting all the shit smoke in my car.

I don't smoke because it makes the car smell like shit. I certainly don't want your smoke in my car, keep that shit smell inside your dung heap smelling car!

A lot of newer cars don't have built in ashtrays because some people felt it promoted smoking. Though smokers be warned: it is illegal and especially on the highway there are extremely high fines! I would know!!

@-Troll@AOL
you seem to have some built up frustration and have serious issues with road rage. You are probaly a small guy and gets your ass kicked on a daily basis therefore the only retaliation you have to to spray people with your windshield fluid. *clap What car do you drive and color so instead of flicking it on your windhsield i can just toss it in your backseat !

Thanks Smokey, that is the first reasonable explanation I've seen.

Freakin hilarious! I'd love to see the reaction of the Ricer who gets sprayed by wiper fluid.
