church crossing guards

Anybody know what the deal is with police officers being used as crossing guards/traffic directors for churches? Do the churches pay money for them to be there? Is this part of their job to "serve and protect" ?

This is their part of the job that requires them to piss off only you.

Whiney bitch......the church hires them to direct cars out of the parking lot. In the long run, its easier and safer this way....ever been in a church parking lot and tried to get out? Especially during football season?

Nope, and I don't intend to. Last I checked church is more important than football, so who's the whiny bitch that can't get home fast enough to sacrilege?

Aren't church goers supposed to be patient, tolerant, and understanding? Can't they wait their proper turn?

Fuck off with your high and mighty bullshit.

Its overtime done by a reimbursable account. Stay away from the roads near churches on Sunday. Pretty fucking simple.

why do they need crossing guards? shouldnt god part the seas of cars to allow them safe passage to the church?

Yes, the church pays for them, so don't worry. It's better than putting in a permanent traffic light that will piss you off the other 160+ hours of the week.

This isn't exactly the bible belt, but it's still pretty damn hard to avoid them.

Thanks for answering appropriately. I thought about a traffic light and realized it's obviously better to have a crossing guard. I was just curious where the funds came from, and like Kenny_Powers I'm still confused as to why god doesn't show them the way.

Someone at St. Bernadette is definately in bed with FCPD because they close off an entire lane for the good churchgoing folk to exit. St. Bernadette was a very humble gal. She grew up in poverty and is prayed to for help with physical illness. I think she would get really mad if she knew what the folks at her namesake parish were doing. Not very humble.

And I've heard rumors that they sometimes alter regular traffic flows for sporting events. How dare they. Don't people have better things to do than going en masse to the same place at the same time for some shared purpose?

How much traffic can there really be on OKM on Sunday sans the SB cars?

That's exactly the point. Why should 3 cars who have nothing to do with the church have to sit in 10 minutes of traffic waiting for 200 cars to exit? Just let the 3 cars pass and then it's clear for churchies.

I hear the police love it. They make bank in overtime + hazard pay + holidays.
It seems like something the state would pay for. Idk.

Wow, someone has a problem with police actually doing their job (Which I thought, but correct me if I'm wrong, is to "Serve, and to Protect").

Did you mean "separation" of church and state?

Notwithstanding, do you have any clue at all as to what principle you are seeking to invoke?

I doubt it.

I guess that's true of the ACLU headquarters. No taxes...
