Building VS. WRX STi
Posted by: asnpcwiz ()
Date: July 21, 2005 09:54AM

My wife and I were out late last night at a movie and came home around 12. As we pulled into the neighborhood we saw an STi plowed right into our neighboring condos. It was just some punk idiot kid. I called 911 and reported the problem and I checked up on the kid to see if he was ok and anyone else was hurt. Luckily no one was hurt, but I'm sure the kid is going to get a raping from his parents and insurance company.

I'd love to know the dynamics of the accident. How did a car that should have been going 25 or less do that much damage? How fast was he going that he couldn't steer away from doing THAT? Was he drunk?

Clearly this accident could have been avoided if he had a larger spoiler on the car.

Looks like the streetlights may have blinded him as he came whipping around, I think he also needs more window tint.

Perhaps a more thunderous stereo system and wheel spinners would have generated a force field of sorts and deflected the falling bricks from his car.
I'm going to contact the NTSA and ask that these safety devices be made mandatory.

Hey rstidman, no the kid wasn't trying to park that car...he was trying to drive it out of the neighborhood. The road right in front of the house leaves straight out the neighborhood, so the kid was about 100 yards away from leaving...until he hit a freaking BUILDING.

Hey Somebody, welcome to the forum bro...nice to have you here...I like your new website. Why are you talking all that smack about the boy's car? You don't like a fast and furious car...hahah

Cary, maybe you can make a link to my boy Somebody's website http://fairfaxinfo.com

Drove by it earlier, he was less than 100, probably 25 meters from the end of the very short road. Honestly looking at it I am more confused as to how he could have done this! If I find his car I'll post damage pics.

I've been meaning to make a link to fairfaxinfo.com for like a week. I'll respond in the other thread after it calms down here (at work). The "Links" and "Pictures" sections need a serious makeover, maybe I'll just make them wiki pages so everyone can edit them....

That would really suck if your car was in one of those garages and it was just before midnight and you only had about five minutes to make it to the store for the beer run.

that's why we need to give cops the ability to give waivers for the law on a case-by-case basis.

Why do you assume that because this car is a Subaru it would have wheel spinners and a loud stereo. Clearly you know absolutely nothing about these cars nor the type that drive them. You would be hard pressed to find one with any sort of chrome rims on it, seeing as they already come with BBS wheels on them. Most of these cars are snatched up by enthusiasts. Parents have no idea what they are putting their kid into half the time when they spoil their little brats with a 32000 car. They think it's just a Subaru how fast could it be, and don't realize that 300 hp and 300 tq is on par with many "performance" cars. The parents should be sued for giving their kid a car like that, and they are idiots if they think their kid is responsible enough to handle it. More money then brains like oh so many.

because they are as over-sensitive as you are. it's easy to poke fun at people that want their cars to be more than just cars. lighten up and buy a saturn.

Hey MrDoctor, the driver was actually a white boy. He was scared as hell and talking to his Mommy on the phone while I called 911.

And to bullhead, I agree that this car is bought by enthusiasts...usually the kind that needs mommy and daddy to buy it for them while they work 8 hours a day at McDonald's to pay for a bigger turbo or intercooler to make their car more fast and furious than his buddy's, all while living at home at age 25 just so he can spend all of his hard made money on his next aftermarket part. I love that car and I can appreciate all the nice things it comes with, Brembo brakes, BBS wheels, Momo steering wheel and shifter, etc...but let's admit, the majority of "enthusiasts" that drive that STi are little kids who want to add spinners and a loud system to it. When Somebody made that comment, he wasn't saying they aren't enthusiasts...just because they want aftermarket parts doesn't make them less of an enthusiast, just idiots.

You all need to get off your high horses. I'm sure none of you have ever done anything stupid before right. You were all genius' at that age. Please, I've never met more idiots in my life then when I moved here. You people can't even handle driving in the rain without spinning out of control. I've seen more flipped over SUV's for no appearent reason here in the last year then in the entire 17 years I've had my license, and I'm from an area where 18-20 inches of snow falls overnight and you do go to work in the morning in it and they don't close things because of a dusting of snow. Most of you drive in the left like it's a travel lane and when you're not passing someone and people go around you in the right and you have the nerve to think to yourselves "what an ass for passing me on the right". Get the hell out of the way if you're not passing something so we can all go on about our day. But you're right, criticise a kid who's dumbass parents bought a car for that is way more then a kid should be learning to drive in.

Saturns are garbage. Everything GM makes is garbage.

Oh, and could the reason you've seen more flipped SUVs here in a year than the past 17 years be because you used to live in a rural northern town with an SUV population equal to the number of cars in the D.C. area that get flipped?

The pictures were taken with my Nikon Coolpix 4300. I took the pictures from my balcony. This happened across the street from us at our neighbors condo. These pictures did come out pretty good including the low lighting situation. I love the camera since it produces such good pictures, but I've been debating on upgrading it...think it's worth keeping?!?!

JONATHAN, I'm looking to sell my camera if you are interested. I'm having a new camera delivered to me. A more professional camera. Let me know if you are interested in buying this one. It's the Nikon 4300, and it comes a carrying case, battery charger, pc cable, 3 batteries, and a 512meg compact flash card. Oh, and I still have all original packaging, usermanuals, CD's, etc...I'm a pack rat. If you are interested let me know.

But I will admit, Nikon makes damn good digicams. Their optics are top notch.

Ok I'm 26 I own a highly modfied subaru, I'm an active member in the subaru community, also involved in SCCA. I also run an Oil & Gas brokerage company.(it's not quite McDonald's) Too many people see a loud car and automatically think in stereotypes. In reality the true car enthusiatist are some of the best driving and safest drivers on the road. Not to mention the car enthusiasts who choose to moddify there vehicle's are adding performance, but while on public streets, these moddified vehicles are also safer. They can stop faster, swerve for accident avoidance easier and safier while doing it, and when needed can acceleralte away from danger if needed. The Subaru WRX STi is an out of the box performance machine, there is not another vehicle which can touch it's performance statistics for 3times the cost of the STi. It is truely a car enthusiatist vehcile. As for the kid in question, he is the opposite, parents money and no common sense. By some of the comments in this thread it's obvious some have no clue what these cars are about. Not all subaru owners are level headed adults, spoiled kids do get these cars and they usually end up like the one in this thread. I'm only saddened by the waste of the car, I call dibs if it's parted out, lol.

For the record the big wing, is one of the few factory spoilers that is actually functional, and at 150mph it is very useful. Let's see your saturn do that.

your car is also a time machine? seriously, going back to 2005 for cheap parts is a waste of a time traveling car. does it also go forward in time because 2007 is lame. 2050 sounds nicer.

Chim Chang, you must know nothing about Subarus, you yourself must drive a rice burner honda. Subaru Impreza WRX STI's Come stock to be raced on the dirt, and in rallies with 306 HP to all 4 wheels (that means all wheel drive; if you didn't know, since your ricer honda only has FWD)
