Let me give the scoop of what's really going on from a radio insider. Don's show is a wreck. Let's be honest...it's awful! Nobody is a bigger fan than I am. I used to worship the guy! That show will get short term "wow factor" ratings then slip back to 15th place. The show has zero entertainment value and I honestly can't believe what I'm hearing. I listen to both Mike's podcast and Don's podcasts everyday and Mike's show blows Don's out of the water. The funniest guy in all this? It's Rob. That guy is funny! Let me predict what will happen. And this is coming from a guy with 25 years of radio experience. In a few months CBS will start questioning Don's show and he'll start fueding again with Mgt. This will end ugly.

You don't have to love Don's show to realize MOM and crew suck. Rob(b) is terrible. He doesn't have a voice. He doesn't know what is funny. He brings nothing to the party in terms of creative ideas or material. Rob(b) is an intern who has hung around way too long. He's the guy who should have realized 20 years ago that he had no future in the industry and pursued an accounting degree, instead.

The show really only drags when he brings his vapid, airhead wife on the show, thinking she's really going to be a cut-up. I tune out whenever he calls her. Other than that, it's a great show.

I always thought the same thing about Freida. Maybe next time Don can pick a wife we can like hearing. But at least this one isn't on as much as Freida was. Otherwise, his show is excellent.

It's months later, and Don is kicking ass in the ratings and he is moving to Sacramento. CBS has signed him to a syndication deal. How is your esteemed prediction looking now? He has gone up to 5th place in the latest ratings.

The first few days were a bit rocky, just like everyones first few days of a new job, but Don's got his rhythm back. Its so nice to hear his voice on the radio again, he will be picked up on the east coast in no time, syndication is on the way!!!!!

Notice that when the show started out rocky, Don immediately made the changes necessary to fix it...including getting rid of people who weren't stepping up to the plate or contributing sufficiently.

Mike, on the other hand, is too fucking fat and lazy to care about what he puts on the air. As long as he doesn't have to work too hard.

I believe much of Don's success is due to the millions that the station spent on promoting his show. Also it's an AM station, so they have a larger audience because most people don't have FM receivers yet. Oh, and the format is perfect for his show because it's mostly about sports.

So really, talent and knowing how to produce a radio show has nothing to do with his recent achievements.

I listened to the show recently for the first time in a while..........wow, I haven't been missing much. Who is that guy on 2nd mic? He sounds JUST LIKE MIKE O'MEARA!!! I thought maybe Don had Mike on as a special guest or something when I first tuned in......sounds EXACTLY like Mike, which is very disconcerting in a way. All he does is laugh at whatever Don says. It's really lame. And I like how Don gets all pissy whenever a caller brings up Mike or Buzz or anything from the old show. I think you guys are actually a little too hard on Mike sometimes--yes, he's a fat, lazy, drunken bastard, and the Mike O'Meara Show is an abortion....but whenever I listen to Don's solo show, I definitely miss him.

My conclusion---Mike sucks without Don, and Don sucks without Mike. They were good together. One without the other just makes me sad.

I usually listen to WTEM for sports talk. I'll listen to The Edge in the evenings sometimes. It's unlistenable with Kirk & Mike in the morning. I also listen to country, WETA, WTOP, etc. I go through phases where I will listen to Carolla's podcast for weeks at a time, as well. I can't stand WJFK anymore. When I feel like decent music I'll usually flip on Pandora or do a YouTube mix of a favorite group. The play lists on radio generally suck, though WPGC and WHUR have pretty good Urban Contemporary selections.

He just disappeared one day a few weeks ago and the guys never really said anything about him explicitly. Don would throw to Johnny Mongo and Mongo would do shit. I think Don figured out quickly that there was no spark with Mongo or Jodi Bacon and he made the change right away instead of trying to make the unworkable work.
