Applying to FCPD
Posted by: fairfaxone ()

Has anyone applied to the Fairfax County Police Department recently? Any idea how long it is taking to schedule a written exam? And how long is it from the written exam until the start of the academy?

I hear they ask you some really fucked up things during the polygraph... like akin to a DoD TS/SCI. My friend was ex-army and got through the process up to the polygraph then was immediately disqualified.

Good luck! Post inside info here if you make it in!

From the date I applied to the actual test date was about a month I think. You go and test with at least 100 other applicants. I got my score back within two weeks or so. Then about a week after that I got my poly date for a week later. The poly was not fun. They ask a million questions and some are a little offensive. The entire process can take anywhere from 3-6 months before you can start an academy. Sometimes you will start working as a Police Cadet because you have been hired but need to wait for the next academy class. I hope you were either a gods honest little boyscout of a person or grew up in a box until now because they are VERY selective. Or be a minority of some kind LOL. Thousands apply year round and very few actually make it through their hoops. Personally, I would go MPD (if you want to be a real cop). Good luck with it all and please remember that just because you are a FCPO, that doesn't require you to be an arrogant asshole.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I know they are extremely picky, so I'm trying to go in with low expectations. I know that the process is taking a lot longer than usual now with the economy and all.

I think its something like 1500 apply each year and only like 4% get hired and go to the academy. With the crappy budget, the percentage is probably even lower.

There are much better agencies to apply. FFX PD considers themselves the LAPD of the east.

How about the Metro Police, they have to get accreditation in Virginia, DC, and Maryland to be an officer...

...so if someone wants to leave that agency, they have plenty of options out there.

Blessed are the murderous.

Yes I had at least 2 dozen officers over the years tell me that....did you come up with that all by yourself?

Metro does have the certification for all three areas. Given Metro's budget issues of late, hiring may be a challenge over the next few years.

@ liar liar pants on fire, No I did not come up with that all by myself. I have heard that from many a FFX County officer as well. Many years ago lots of LAPD officers lied in court so many went to prison over drugs and other crimes. If FFX County wants to have that self-imposed attitude, it fits the department very well.

Right about now NWA court is in full effect.
Judge Dre presiding in the case of NWA versus the police department.
Prosecuting attourneys are MC Ren Ice Cube and Eazy muthafuckin E.
Order order order. Ice Cube take the muthafuckin stand.
Do you swear to tell the truth the whole truth
and nothin but the truth so help your black ass?

Why don't you tell everybody what the fuck you gotta say?

Fuck tha police
Comin straight from the underground
Young nigga got it bad cuz I'm brown
And not the other color so police think
They have the authority to kill a minority

Fuck that shit, cuz I ain't tha one
For a punk muthafucka with a badge and a gun
To be beatin on, and throwin in jail
We could go toe to toe in the middle of a cell

Fuckin with me cuz I'm a teenager
With a little bit of gold and a pager
Searchin my car, lookin for the product
Thinkin every nigga is sellin narcotics

You'd rather see me in the pen
Then me and Lorenzo rollin in the Benzo
Beat tha police outta shape
And when I'm finished, bring the yellow tape
To tape off the scene of the slaughter
Still can't swallow bread and water

I don't know if they fags or what
Search a nigga down and grabbin his nuts
And on the other hand, without a gun they can't get none
But don't let it be a black and a white one
Cuz they slam ya down to the street top
Black police showin out for the white cop

Ice Cube will swarm
On any muthafucka in a blue uniform
Just cuz I'm from the CPT, punk police are afraid of me
A young nigga on a warpath
And when I'm finished, it's gonna be a bloodbath
Of cops, dyin in LA
Yo Dre, I got somethin to say

Fuck the police (4X)

M. C. Ren, will you please give your testimony to the jury about this fucked up incident.>

Fuck tha police and Ren said it with authority
because the niggaz on the street is a majority.
A gang, is with whoever I'm stepping
and the motherfuckin' weapon
is kept in a stash box, for the so-called law
wishin' Ren was a nigga that they never saw

Lights start flashin behind me
But they're scared of a nigga so they mace me to blind me
But that shit don't work, I just laugh
Because it gives em a hint not to step in my path

To the police I'm sayin fuck you punk
Readin my rights and shit, it's all junk
Pullin out a silly club, so you stand
With a fake assed badge and a gun in your hand

But take off the gun so you can see what's up
And we'll go at it punk, I'ma fuck you up

Make ya think I'm a kick your ass
But drop your gat, and Ren's gonna blast
I'm sneaky as fuck when it comes to crime
But I'm a smoke em now, and not next time

Smoke any muthafucka that sweats me
Or any assho that threatens me
I'm a sniper with a hell of a scope
Takin out a cop or two, they can't cope with me

The muthafuckin villian that's mad
With potential to get bad as fuck
So I'm a turn it around
Put in my clip, yo, and this is the sound
Ya, somethin like that, but it all depends on the size of the gat

Takin out a police would make my day
But a nigga like Ren don't give a fuck to say

Fuck the police (4X)

Police, open now. We have a warrant for Eazy-E's arrest.
Get down and put your hands up where I can see em.
Just shut the fuck up and get your muthafuckin ass on the floor.
[huh?]>

and tell the jury how you feel abou this bullshit.>

I'm tired of the muthafuckin jackin
Sweatin my gang while I'm chillin in the shackin
Shining tha light in my face, and for what
Maybe it's because I kick so much butt

I kick ass, or maybe cuz I blast
On a stupid assed nigga when I'm playin with the trigga
Of any Uzi or an AK
Cuz the police always got somethin stupid to say

They put up my picture with silence
Cuz my identity by itself causes violence
The E with the criminal behavior
Yeah, I'm a gansta, but still I got flavor

Without a gun and a badge, what do ya got?
A sucka in a uniform waitin to get shot,
By me, or another nigga.
and with a gat it don't matter if he's smarter or bigger
[MC Ren: Sidle him, kid, he's from the old school, fool]

And as you all know, E's here to rule
Whenever I'm rollin, keep lookin in the mirror
And there's no cue, yo, so I can hear a
Dumb muthafucka with a gun

And if I'm rollin off the 8, he'll be tha one
That I take out, and then get away
And while I'm drivin off laughin
This is what I'll say

Fuck the police (4X)

The jury has found you guilty of bein a redneck,
whitebread, chickenshit muthafucka.
Wait, that's a lie. That's a goddamn lie.
I want justice! I want justice!
Fuck you, you black muthafucka!>

Fuck the police (3X)

I was never fired, threatened with termination or anything like that, but I did get my share of citizen complaints. I am actually from a rual county in Virginia. I was a sworn official from this area who elected to come up to the big city.

A general sense is the agency acts like the stuck up rich girl who got everything she wanted, and when she did not get what she wanted, she threw a temper tantrum until she got what she wanted. Very few officers reside in the county, where our tax dollars (their salaries) are subsidzing the counties south and west of here. In dealing with individual oficers this attitude is not the case. When its a slew of them, it comes out. All in all, the police department is a very good one. This is evident of the lack of very serious crime. Look accross the river to DC, PG, and even Montgomery to a degree. Very few FFX PD officers have been in trouble with the law, or comitted criminal acts.

That explains the attitude then, After retiring I spent several miserable years with the feds, probably the biggest bunch of horse shit I have ever seen. At least in FCPD they didnt plug each other in the ass to get ahead at every opportunity. Should have known better after working on several federal task forces , most feds couldnt make a good case without the locals feeding them everything.

fairax county is not a dangerous area so it is not too bad of an area to be a cop. Your life will not be ever threatened. I am a detective in FFX county and I would say that many of our arrested are very low scale drug dealings or petty larcenies.

I'm not certain how a County LEO examination would be anything like a TS/SCI one. When applying for an actual clearance, they know nearly every facet of your life.

I think it varies agency by agency. Most of The State Department's security personnel have SCI clearances and they are polygraphed.

going through the process right now. Pretty much like any other police department if you've applied before, only you are competing against other applicants. I WOULD NOT, however, recommend applying to Prince William County Police department. They mind f*** you immediately after the physical exam and try to disqualify you right from the start. Pretty sure one of the detectives there is racist against Caucasians. Anyways, yeah, their poly is pretty intense but like any other poly just be honest if you get disqualified oh well the position wasn't for you. But apply to other places because you aren't guaranteed an immediate position in the academy, you might have to wait over a year!

I've never had a polygraph (though I did work with someone at the Naval Research Lab who actually turned one down - he refused to take it). As such, I had to look up the whole nine yards to try to understand what you're talking about. As far as I can see after reading a half dozen web sites or so the full scope polygraph isn't really anything more significant than the others except for a few lifestyle questions that, IMHO, are questionable w.r.t. security.

In fact, I would think half the full scope polygraph could be discarded by asking something like "Would you ever give in to blackmail?"...

I assure you, the polygraph with FCPD is at the same level as a Full Lifestyle Poly with a Government clearance. I know this, as I have been through both successfully.

The most important thing is honestly and integrity, be honest with yourself and them. Good example, when being asked "Have you ever stole anything from an employer", you should probably request to revise that question to.. "Have you ever stole anything of significant value over $10 from an employer". Reason, you'll be thinking about those 1-2 pens that were in your binder on the way home, or whatever. Otherwise, during the long pause.. you'll be asking yourself "do those pens count? hmmm" which can make you look deceptive.

Again, the key is honesty, with everything and anything. It's better to pass a polygraph with some dirt on the table than try to keep a clean table and fail a polygraph.

Best of luck to you. FCPD is regarded as a VERY elite force and agencies all over the world come to the Academy, Track, and Range for testing, instruction, etc.

Which is why they have a very high number of applicants and a very low number of positions. In regards to the polygraph, the best way to pass is...honesty. Really just honesty and if you're DQed well better there than once they invest money into you and they get irately pissed off at you. But honestly military would be the way to go instead of police, you are more respected and loved in the community and plus yeah you make 50 grand being a cop but military gives you a lot more incentives, kind of considering that route myself. Haven't had the best experiences and to the guy claiming they are all anti black well some other counties next to Fairfax are anti-white applicants.

I applied about 4 years ago. Took the written exam with about 100 other applicants. Passed with no problem. Then came the polygraph. That was a disaster, and not because I was being deceptive. The detective conducting the polygraph, in my opinion, went out of his way to trip me up as much as possible. Changing the wording of questions, being aggressive, being accusatory, etc. It was just like being interrogated. An hour of that nonsense and you just wantedto be away from this guy. I found it hard to believe that this was the standard protocol for conducting poly tests on applicants. Maybe it really is, I don't know. But I can honestly say that the tactics the detective used truly jaded the results. You can't berate and harass an applicant taking a poly and expect the results to be accurate. Needless to say, my rejection letter arrived in the mail 2 weeks after that.

Nope. The FCPD uses it as a weeding out process. I too was DQ'd back in the day. Now I sit with a TS and get a annual poly every five years. Lets just say the FCPD poly is laughed at because of how they administer the poly.

These ice mutant detectives trying to railroad and berate people. This is why I hate some of there officers with a passion. They do have some good officers now don't get me wrong. Out in Sully they are all about letting the white people go and doing whatever they can do to railroad the innocent minorities.
