Peter Lemon US Army Vietnam Medal Of Honor recipient who was high on weed when his position was attacked and went totally off on the enemy throwing rocks when he ran out of ammo saving many of his fellow soldiers lives at risk of his own above and beyond the call of duty
He got the word on the medal award after he was discharged living in a commune as a long hair. An army officer and Sgt came to see him in a official car and asked for him by name , the hippies said he was not there, and told him they came , he was worried what had he done wrong ! The army guys came again the next day and finally he met them and was told he was going to get Americas highest decoration . (No Pun intended on highest), he wore a suit and his long hair to receive the Medal of Honor from President Nixon at the White House
