Like all dead people do no matter what the race. Dead whites and blacks smell the same. Dead fat people tend to smell different as do the very old and decrepit but largely the same by race.
It’s kind of a putrid smell yet has this overpowering sweet, perfume layer that is slightly sour at the same time. Sort of like rotting pork but also a strong shit smell that is slightly fishy. Those tend to be all the flavors except piss if the environment collected the last excretions but the body itself doesn’t smell like piss. Then the amount of each particular smell is increased or decreased based on conditions like temperature (more putrid when warm) and circumstance of death (“natural causes” is a vastly different smell than bodily trauma, etc.). With trauma, you definitely smell the iron in the blood. However, the most characteristic of all variables impacting the smell of the body is more than anything, how long dead. I could go days on describing how much a day 1 might smell different than a day 1 and what makes day 15 so different than any day before it.

Again, not true. I mean no body will smell great. Even a freshly dead body usually smells like shit. If you are talking about dead bodies that have been cleaned and embalmed, then the smell is not pleasant or terrible but there is a reason you generally have flower arrangements around the body. Race makes little difference except if the body had a particular odor when it was alive (like poor hygiene or organ failure that results in ketoacidosis (fruity smell) or liver failure (musty/ urine). But these smells are actually less pungent when the body is dead because they largely come from breathe.
The smelliest dead body is typically a large massed person who has been in an enclosed space, like a mobile home without a/c. The fat tends to liquefy faster than muscle. Plus with fat people, gravity takes hold and will split the skin faster releasing the liquified insides to spread across the floor.
Fun fact! Most dead bodies will not smell like armpit b/o even if the person was very smelly with b/o before. This is because 1. The body isn’t moving the air around so it’s harder to detect and also as the body loses temperature and stops sweating, the bacteria dies out!
