Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
The guy who owned it also owned the Little Cafe next door to it, but I forget its name, now. I drove a cab in Arlington as a summer job in that era. I even carried a couple of the waitresses and dancers there as regulars, but I forget the name of the joint, now.
1. They are not talking about Crystal City.
That is many miles away near the airport.
This is close to Courthouse.
2. Ben's Chili Bowl was there for a couple of years recently.
A better reference would have been Ray's Hell Burger.
(Which non-locals would know from Obama's visits.)
3. I have no idea. Been here for 60 years but never
went to that strip mall until 2008. This club must have
been way before that.
4. Crystal City is being renamed "National Landing" by Amazon,
and the strip club over there is being renamed "National Landing Strip".

It was there in the late 1970s and into the 1980s, but how far past 1983 it lasted, I forget.
Ben's has been in DC on U St. since 1958. Ben died in 2009. His wife is still alive. They started opening different locations some time around 2014, It was mostly his sons' doing.
It was the Arlington Grill, I worked across the street when it closed around 2003, I only went there a few times. It was definitely a dive bar, smoke filled, old time Arlington, an aging clientele, and strippers well past their prime. Dollar beers for Monday Night Football though.
On the topic of Ben's, it was doomed from the start, they moved in banking on the popularity from the ballpark, but Arlington was rapidly becoming more upscale and the pushcart in front of Courthouse Metro had better chili half smokes.

Everything/one is doomed, asswipe. It’s called life. Your half-smoked commentary hasn’t contributed to the thread.
