Virginia school system cancels Dr. Seuss, citing racial 'undertones' in writings

Loudoun County Public Schools claims Dr. Seuss' books contain racial 'undertones'

Celebrated American children’s author Dr. Seuss is now considered too controversial for Loudoun County, one of Virginia's largest school districts, a new report reveals.

For over two decades, Dr. Seuss’s birthday has been celebrated in schools as Read Across America Day — a day dedicated to the importance of reading and literacy. The day falls on Dr. Seuss’s birthday in honor of the impactful author, whose books have helped countless children learn to read across the globe.

But following pressure from leftist activists, Loudon County Public Schools is reportedly dropping the annual Dr. Seuss celebration.

"Realizing that many schools continue to celebrate ‘Read Across America Day’ in partial recognition of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, it is important for us to be cognizant of research that may challenge our practice in this regard," Loudoun County Schools said in an announcement reported by the Daily Wire.

"As we become more culturally responsive and racially conscious, all building leaders should know that in recent years there has been research revealing radical undertones in the books written and the illustrations drawn by Dr. Seuss," the school district continued.

Learning for Justice, a liberal extremist education advocacy group, was reportedly behind the pressure campaign against the celebrated children's author. The organization pegs itself as a group that seeks "to uphold the mission" of the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center, according to their website.

Learning for Justice cited a study by St. Catherine University that claimed Dr. Seuss’s books are covered with "Orientalism, anti-Blackness and White supremacy" in a magazine article they released.

THERE YOU HAVE IT FOLKS, THE NAZI SOCIALIST HAVE TAKEN OVER!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait to see the grandkids! I'll be reading even more Dr. Seuss to them and hopefully will be triggering snowflakes all over Loudoun !

On Monday, Whoopi and the other morons on The View will take up the campaign to have Dr. Seuss's medical license revoked!

FCPS will still celebrate Dr. Seuss because they are all racists and use the N word on a regular basis.

Very sad. It's widely known that Dr. Seuss loved niggers as much as anyone.

According to Maher, "new world liberals" – those who are all about being "woke" – need a "stand your ground law for cancel culture."

"Stop apologizing because I can't keep track of who's on the sh*t list," he said during his monologue on Friday. "... cancel culture is real, it's insane, and it's growing exponentially and it's coming to a neighborhood near you."

The moderate Democrat warned Americans of one overarching reality: everyone is online and everyone faces the threat of being canceled for something they said in the past.

"If you think it's just for celebrities, no. In an era where everyone is online, everyone is a public figure," Maher explained.

He used the example of a Hispanic electric worker in San Diego. The man was fired because someone reported him for holding up a "white supremacy" symbol outside of his truck. According to Maher, he was doing something as simple as "flicking a booger."

"Is this really who we want to become, a society of phony, clenched a**hole avatars, walking on eggshells, always looking over your shoulder without getting ratted out for something that has nothing to do with your character or morals?" Maher asked rhetorically. "Think of everything you've ever texted, emailed, searched for, tweeted, blogged, or said in passing."

The HBO host went on to cite a study saying 80 percent of Americans are afraid to share their political views because of cancel culture.

"Everybody hates it and no one stands up to it," he said. "Because it's always safer to swallow what you really think and join the mob."

Memo to social Justice warriors: when what you're doing sounds like an Onion headline, stop. #CancelCultureIsOverParty

Would it be ok if Kaepernick read Dr. Seuss?
How about a gay?
Somebody that believes in climate change?
Somebody that has a typo in a FU post?

It's so hard to tell who Republicans are okay canceling
Can somebody post your rules so we can follow along?

One of the books was banned because it showed people from Africa wearing no shirt, no shoes and only a grass skirt? Okay. Never in the history of Africa did people wear grass skirts? Never in the history of Hawaii did people wear grass skirts? Every Luau I have been to the dancers wear grass skirts. Do you see how ridiculous this is? I guess Disney will have to close down the Polynesian and Animal Kingdom Resorts because they are racist. Did Europeans run around in animal skins/furs thousands of years ago? God damn right they did. Can we no longer depict a neandrathal man in his true image because someone might get offended. This shit is out of control.

Another one Libs had problems with was a Chinese man wearing a rice hat and having slanted eyes. Because they say they don't exist ....

The RACIST drawing that got the book banned is of a Chinese man wearing a rice hat while eating with chop "sticks".

According to the lunatic left, this traditional hat is a RACIST symbol.

SINCE WHEN?????

Loudoun went from conservative leaning to more liberal than Fairfax County in like 15 years. The county govt wanted the $$ developers waved in front of them and so they reaped what they showed. I can't imagine being a long time resident of that County seeing how far the pendulum has swung.

Those people demanding the books be removed are a tiny minority. It would take a set of balls to just say no to their baseless claims. Much easier I guess to just cave in, while awaiting another demand by these lunatics.

Yes!
Stop printing six Dr.Seuss books and what happens?
The libraries of all knowledge are burned to the ground!

By the way:
The great library of Alexandria was not the only storehouse of knowledge, nor when it was burned was everything burned. This is another reason you cannot think this through. You have no idea about anything.
Oh, and since it burned down in 48BC, it did not induce a world-wide dark age.

To quote wikipedia: "Despite the widespread modern belief that the Library of Alexandria was burned once and cataclysmically destroyed, the Library actually declined gradually over the course of several centuries. This decline began with the purging of intellectuals from Alexandria in 145 BC during the reign of Ptolemy VIII Physcon, which resulted in Aristarchus of Samothrace, the head librarian, resigning from his position and exiling himself to Cyprus. Many other scholars, including Dionysius Thrax and Apollodorus of Athens, fled to other cities, where they continued teaching and conducting scholarship. The Library, or part of its collection, was accidentally burned by Julius Caesar during his civil war in 48 BC, but it is unclear how much was actually destroyed and it seems to have either survived or been rebuilt shortly thereafter; the geographer Strabo mentions having visited the Mouseion in around 20 BC and the prodigious scholarly output of Didymus Chalcenterus in Alexandria from this period indicates that he had access to at least some of the Library's resources."

Again, another wild conspiracy theory by people who cannot think.

I am not going to worry about reading any Dr. Seuss or watching Sesame Street. I am just going to sit here chilling to that award winning song, WAP (Wet Assed Pussy). What a great world we currently live in!
