Cold War sirens in Fairfax & surrounding areas

Good day all. I'm interested in civil defense sirens and come seeking information. I'm looking for locations for sirens in the area, that were formerly part of WAWAS (Washington Area Warning Alert System). I was wondering if anyone knew where some of the old sirens were, or if any were left so I could map them out. I know the system was pretty big (reportedly 466 sirens all over the metro in 1985) so I understand this is a large undertaking. I'd appreciate any locations or pointers as to where I could be able to find some. Thank you!

There was a siren on the roof of the Hecht Co. Store at what was then known as Parkington,, now known as Ballston. The siren would go off around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday's and working one street over at my Grandmother's Tazwell Street address it was so loud I had to cover my ears.

Annandale Fire Department (on Columbia Pike) next to the school. On a big tower. They used to blow it every week when I was growing up.

Like every Wednesday at 11:00 AM or something.

It might still be there.

It was part of the AA battery about 1/4 mile away on Gallows Road (across from what is now the Mormon Church).

The Cold War is a story that is becoming popular in our time. Only about major events in history can you make films, make different books and connect everything with our time. It is possible to convey the problems of the past to today's realities through films and serials. You can appreciate in the article https://germangirlinamerica.com/cold-war-tv-dramas/ how important it is to understand the latest films and TV series on such a topic as the Cold War.
