FORD BUYERS, DON'T GO TO JERRY'S IN ANNANDALE,VA

Do not buy a Ford from Jerry's. They are crooks, and their service department will take you straight to the bank. Service does not do good work. Please take your business somewhere else. Do not lose your money those crooks.

Jerry's is the best dealership I've ever bought a car/truck from. Great bargains and service department. But if you buy at Jerry's, you're not obligated to use their service department.

Why don't you go into detail and explain what Jerry's did to wrong you? Do you really think anyone is going to boycott a business because you wrote a one line complaint about them?

I bought a Ford (Escape) from Cowles in Woodbridge and wasn't happy with the experience. They promised me $4500 for my trade-in, then when my car came in, said that they didn't know it didn't have power steering and said they would only give $4000 for it. I always wondered if this was a regular practice in car sales.

what car since 1974 doesn't have power steering....did you disclose that fact when you described your trade in? Do you think they may have a little problem reselling your Flinstone mobile? Get real...if you didn't like the deal you should've gotten back into your Pinto and gone home.

Jerry's Ford does not do a lot of volume,
Therefore they have to make their money on large profits.
Jerry's is getting squeezed by Koons and Sheehy,
and should be out of business by January.

Or go to Hyundia or Kia since their territory has changed dramatically from the 60's. It's not longer white Pentagon workers, but mostly Koreans and Vietnamese.

I hear you can get a great deal on a Toyota with discounts on maintenance. I too have had bad experiences at Jerry's and Cowles. Sheehy in Springfield has been very decent.

dudoo...
My car was a 1992 Honda Civic and I traded it back in 2001. Since its such a small car, it didn't really need power steering. You were nearly 20 years off in your assessment. Does that mean that I was out of touch by having a car sans power steering, or are you that out of touch that you didn't know that?

So by making fun of me, you have pointed out that you are, in fact, the one that is out of touch.

There is no dealership out there that doesn't have both great stories and horror stories. No one forces you to buy anything. Pay a few bucks for a Consumer's Report car buying report for the model you are looking for to get a ballpark estimate of what you should be paying. If you go to Jerry's or any other dealer that doesn't offer a reaosnable price, walk. I have yet to read a story about a NoVA car dealership that forced a customer to a bank to get money for a new car.

And you only really need to go to a dealer for service if 1) You bought a service plan from them, 2) they offer some other service with vehicle purchases (free state inspections, oil change, etc), and 3) warranty/recall work.

Jerry's Ford makes it clear, let the competition beware...

Anyways, Dave Pyles went out in the mid-90s and was then a Cherner store for awhile...

I stay away from that whole area (I used to have an aunt on Virginia Ave. across the street from there). What a dump of an area!

Don't go to Ourisman Ford in Alexandria, they were the worst I ever encountered during my two years of experience with car dealerships. They had a very ignorant sales team, and they had some major attitude issues when it came to dealing with potential customers. Being there, was basically like dealing with a bunch of inner-city style sheisters (Rude, lacking knowledge, and unwilling to negotiate reasonable prices).

Try Leesburg Toyota, they are one of the best dealerships I've come across.

I found this on Jerry's Ford Leesburg on the internet. Another bad experience:

Jerry's Ford Lincoln Mercury
Leesburg, VA

Selma of Berryville, VA March 30, 2010

On 3-21-10 I went to just to look at a truck. Test drove it and all I wanted to know was an estimate of how much it would be a month. They gave me a price. First they said it was going to be around 800 to 900 a month. I said now but thanks and said I'd keep looking. Micheal came back with $699/month tonight only. I said well what if I came back tomorrow. He said that that was the price for tonight and it wouldn't be here tomorrow. I most likely wouldn't get this price anyplace else either. I believed him.

I said I wanted to talk to the finance guy to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Well, they kept me waiting for an additional 2 hours. I kept saying I was going to leave and they would say another 10 minuts. This dragged out. I finally got to see Jad. I told him that I'd consider the deal as long as it wasn't going to be Capital One and high interest. I told them I hated Capital One. That's who financed my old truck. I was never late and they are a horrible company. I'm finally paying on the principal and I do not want any money going to them at all on the new truck. I was adament about that. I will not buy a truck under those circumstance and my exact words was "that's the dealbreaker". He understood and told me not to worry because it was not going to be Capital One. It's going to be Wachovia at 9% interest.

I wasn't feeling 100% about it and tried leaving a couple times. They talked me into signing the papers. On 3-25 I get a call from Jad stating that they were able to lower my monthly by $10.00 and I needed to go in and sign some more papers. This is where the bait and switch came in. When I got there after work, they told me that the financing with Wachovia fell through and I needed to go through Capital One at 13% interest. I said absolutley NO, I want my old truck back. He leaves the office to talk to the manager and then they both come back into the office.

The manager of the dealorship comes in and says that they electronically sold my old truck to a wholesaler and the tags on the new truck were already in my name. I already own the new truck. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. To make matters worse, they wanted another $1,000.00. I told them I don't have the extra grand and that this was not the deal we had and I want my old truck. They said they couldn't do anything about getting me my old truck back. I yelled at the guy saying it was bad business. How can he sell my old truck without having this deal closed. He said they do it all the time. That's the way it's done. I was crying by this time. I told him I don't have $1,000 dollars.

The manager asked me what happened to the $2,000 I originally had before for a down payment. I said that the deal we made was $1,000 down and the other thousand I already used to pay my bills. I don't have it and I won't have an additional $1,000 especially now that I have a high payment on a truck I now don't want. They walked out and left me sitting there for about 1/2 an hour. They came back and he adked if I could come up with $500. I tried to tell him know. I said "have you heard what I've been telling you". I don't have it. We were going back and forth with me explaining my finances and what I pay every month. I was so tired at that point. He convinced me to give him $500.00 on the 15th of April. He will extend my first payment to 45 days. But get this. This extension is at my expense. He said it's only an additional $4.00 to extend the first payment. What he didn't say is that it was going to be an additional $4.00 a month for the life of the loan.

So because of their mistake I have a truck I no longer want, and out of pocket I'm giving them an additional $500.00 plus the extra $4.00 a month I now have to pay in order to give them the additional $500.00. Since day one I have been asking for the manual for this truck to which they have not given me a clear answer. There is a card key for locking the truck up. They want me to pay an additional $50.00 for that and then there is the spare key. I tried it this morning. IT DOESN'T WORK. Neither does the remote. I'm sure they'll want an additional $200.00 for that.

They are nickel and diming me to death. Here is a break down. Before, the truck was around 39,000 at 9% interest. Now the truck is around $35,000 at 13% interest with a company I hate. They did me such a favor to lower the price of the truck in order to keep my payments teh same. Additionally, I talked to them till I'm blue in the face about my old account with Capital One still being open and me having a late charge and having it show up on my credit.

Yesterday, Jad told me that it was all paid off. This morning I got a call from Capital One stating that my payment for the old truck is late! They never called Capital One to settle the old account. I was ganged up on by 2 con artists who knew what they were talking about. I felt so trapped in their office and I had no choice but to take the truck in order to get out of there.

I was crying my eyes out in front of them. I never felt so humiliated. I didn't get home till amost 9:00pm. Why is it that when they want, they can break a deal and when I want, I'm SOL? I realize now that it was a huge mistake for taking this truck and it was an even bigger mistake for letting them make me feel like I had no alternative. All I want is my old truck back. Everyday I get into this truck and the stress I feel is horrible. I should be enjoying this new truck and not hating it.

I feel sorry for that guy in a way, but he did it to himself. He should have 1. walked the fuck out the first time, 2. Never signed anything, since he clearly wasn't comfortable, and 3. gotten financing through a bank or credit union.

Why do people do this? What is so difficult about researching the vehicle you want and running calculations to see how much payments will be.

Maybe I shouldn't have bought the truck but where in that article do I say that I "can't afford" it??? Losers! You are probobly the same dealership that sold me that damn truck to begin with. WELL IT"S GONE! Thanks to Malloy Ford, they fixed Jerry's Ford BAD EXPERIENCE.

If you need to go anyplace to buy a car or truck GO TO MALLOY FORD IN WINCHESTER! I had the best experience there and they took the BOHEMUTH out of my hands. Gave me full value for my truck too.

And yes, I did learn my lesson. I did research it first and got a very good deal. Different finance company AND LOWER INTEREST.

Also, no crooked salesmen either. They were upfront about everything and the finance guy was awsome. I was in and out. They didn't keep me all day. Gave me a full tank of gas.

Deal with it people. People make bad decisions. I was worn down into making a bad decision that yes, I did regret. It's easy to judge until it happens to you and I pray to God that nothing like this happens to you in a moment of weekeness. Also, I'm not the first and I won't the last.

Good for You! That was a painful lesson and it took some guts to tell about it.

I had a similar experience at Beyer Volvo, I looked at a used car, they said they had a fixed price and wouldn't negotiate. My wife really liked the car and the price was reasonable (I had researched it), so agreed to buy it. So the sales man come back with the contract which has the price of the car then all the upcharges for dealer prep and all that. I said, you told me the price was fixed and there was no negotiating and yet you add on all this other stuff. I told him I wouldn't buy the car at the final price they had which was well over $1500 more than the quoted price. He said there was nothig he could do. So, I left! Next day the guy calls me up and says he might be able to bring the price down $500, I said forget it and hung up. Continued to do some research on line and found a cmparable car for a couple grand less, had to drive some distance but it was worth it. My wife's happy, the car has been great, and I get the satisfaction of knowing I didn't let some slimy car salesman shaft me, maybe the first time in my life though.

Two friends of mine bought total pieces for garbage from Ford.

1) 2007 Lincold Navigator - oil was changes every 3,000 miles and the engine started to smoke at 50,000 miles. What a POS.

2) 2006 Explorer - the guy is on his third transmission and it has less than 100,000 miles.

My 2001 Honda Accord - 194,000 miles and going strong, with minimal maintenance. Try to get that out of a Ford.

What the fuck do either of your stories have to do with these dealerships? Retards, reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. We're talking about a dealership, not make or the issues you've had with an individual dealership. In other words, for you fuckin idiots, we're talking about the quality of service at a dealership.

Something tells me this swarmy D-bag ex-con was your salesperson. Do an open source check of arrest records on the east coast.

My parents once bought a van from a dealership that the dealership didn't have a title to. They had to do a bunch of legal paperwork, but long story short, had they not paid for the van in cash, they would have been out.

Cash is better than financing any day :)

RE to:Ladymacb29. What happened to you and how did you handle the situation and get straightened out? I'm going through it with the bs o yur getting a good financing deal I helped u out n really now it may of been a lease in the way they worded the contract in small print but completely not told or I would've said fuck u! Then when I thought there was a problem I found on the test drive they took in there so n said they looked at it and everything's good just the info system needed to b reset...yeah well I get back to Maryland which their inspection qualifies for the same amount as Virginia does for tires and so I take it for Maryland inspection n what do ya know.. It didn't pass..the tires r 2/32 of tread (horrible) but couldn't tell the slightest by looking at em they all had all the little pieces of rubber sticking out the sides like new tires do, but, "y did the Jerry fucks send me off wit this when they clearly said nope, no problem there, everything checked out up on the lift" (a problem which can cause serious injury, hazard and fatality) n that problem made feint alignment fail which can't tell now but if the car isn't fixed asap can't drive with that it will only make it worse n cause more problems, & y n how did this car pass Virginia inspection a month before for tires alignment, tint and everything else in the test when Virginia and Maryland's laws r the same for these things. N it's been almost 2 weeks now and no title has come in the mail like they said it would and can't get ahold of them when I try because there gonna fix this damn car especially if I gotta take a day off to drive back down to VA to that fucked up place n go thru this shit with them!! I have looked up many VA laws n there r so many I'm prepared to throw in their face n they can have their pick of which of the 20 they wanna own up to n choose that applies to what they've done and how much of a shitstorm of lawsuits I can slap on the table against em n sue their asses! But anyways any info on what u did would b very helpful.

haha...this is a car salesman's green light to go for the jugular. Some people are so ignorant.

You dont ask them to give a you a monthly payment price. You ask them for the price of the car, out the door, taxes and all other bullshit included. Then you work from there. If you cant figure out how much tyou can afford to pay on a car payment every month, you shouldnt be shopping for a car. Let someone else do it.

I had some very similar dealings with these guys. They lied about the car I wanted being on the lot, they lied about it being cleaned and readied and they sure as hell lied about the financing. They kept telling me I could afford to buy the car, so leasing was the only way to go. I talked to a friend later and he showed me how I could have totally afforded it, with room to spare (bad on my part). They were condescending and specious the whole time. Never again.

I bought 2 used cars from Jerry's within a few weeks of each other. Went to purchase the second one there were a few issues. They were selling car as-is but I told them it's for my son just fix it. Paid $600 for the repairs. A week later take it to my mechanic he tells me two of the three things I paid Jerry's for need to be repaired. I explain I had that done when I bought it he shows me how the work wasn't done because the piece they supposedly replaced was rusted and that couldn't happen in a week. Like clockwork the other car needs repairs. Find out there was an electrical issue and it shouldn't have passed the inspection. There was a light on when I test drove it and later I learned they disconnected the battery to reset the lights. When I called about the repairs I paid for I'm reminded how I bought it as is. I said I know but I also paid for repairs you said you were going to do. The salesman tells me sorry it's out of my hands. I tried for a little bit to get money back but got busy with life. So instead I told everyone I know plus this board to stay far away from them.

That is correct, dealers and any business, make their money on profits. Another name for the money businesses make is called profit. So they profit on their profits. Go back to your government job.

Jerry's is a shitty dealership intent on ripping off prospective customers. They wanted $4500 more for an identical pickup truck that I ended up buying at another dealer. They wouldn't budge at all and became abusive when told of the other dealer's price. Screw them - I'll never visit their crappy dealership again.
