I will watch it later but West Potomac gets beat by Colonial Forge who is 3-5 & likely won't make the playoffs but then beat South County? Did Spalding even play last night?

Spalding played. Got his touches, even had at least 1, score. You can tell when he has the ball in his hands he’s different. But you can tell that when West Po’s #2 has the ball in his hands. Both D1 athletes, but #2 is a Maryland lacrosse commit.

Robinson could be an issue for Madison. Madison's defense is based around pressure and movement. If you guess wrong against the Wing T, it's a TD.

If there was any doubt, its now official. Annandale is a shithole. Last nights game with FC was stopped in the 4th, just as FC was attempting a two point conversion to take the lead, due to a shooting in the adjacent neighborhood.

A true moment of greatness when administrators for both schools had to try to run the length of the field to stop the game, followed by a re-enactment from The Holy Grail where the guy is attached by the killer rabbit and he responds with “Run away! Run away!”. And thats what they did. Every sob on both sides of the stands and ran straight to the area where the active shooter was believed to have fled.

looked like a huge clusterfuck at the time. I can’t tell you how relieved i was to wake up this morning and find a message from the principal telling me everything was fine and they were in control the whole time. What a joke.

On the bright side, that entire episode almost made me forget the fiasco caused by the county’s new ticketing system. They can’t spend money on basic stuff like restrooms, but they can spend who knows how many millions on a system that requires me to enter my email and debit card. Good job FCPS. Well done all around.

Ok, please think about what you are bitching about. Crime is up all over the country, especially in dense areas like cities. It actually doesn’t cost much at all, if anything, to have cashless, online purchasing of tickets to go to high school athletic events. Criminals are now targeting events that in the past were the least likely to be hit. At the end of the night, I know my communities school usually handles thousands of dollars that needs to be deposited into the schools bank. This is without a police escort, but just the one individual that loads their personal vehicle with cash and drives to a bank for deposit. No protection at all. Easy target.
The online purchasing of tickets stops this crazy handling of funds.

If you hate purchasing tickets online, either stop going to games or vote for political leaders that will stop crime.

**West Po did indeed beat T.C. 22-21 last week in OT, thanks to the user who corrected me.

1. Edison @ Mount Vernon (-10)
- MV won and covered, 37-0.

2. Falls Church (-3) @ Annandale
- Annandale won 21-18, nailed this one... except I picked the wrong winner. Good win for the Atoms, whom I thought had checked out.

3. Lake Braddock (-7) @ Fairfax
- LB won 34-27, nailed this one! This looked like the real game of the week, very competitive game.

4. Langley @ Marshall (-6)
- Marshall won 26-21, failing to cover by 1 point, darn. Langley had a 1 point lead with 33 seconds left in the 4th and blew it.

5. Lee @ Hayfield (-28)
- Hayfield won 62-0. It was 55-0 at halftime. There's a huge difference between the bottom of the barrel National teams and the teams that can actually compete in that district.

6. Madison (-8) @ Westfield
- Madison rolls 34-0. Down year for the Bulldogs. It's happened to them before ('08-'10ish) and they bounced back. Losing the 2 transfers to Avalon has obviously impacted this team. Simmons is a great coach and they will be fine long-term.

7. McLean (-3) @ Herndon
- McLean won 28-21. 24 straight losses for the Hornets now who had a 21-6 halftime lead as well as an early 4th Q lead. Those losses hurt.

8. Oakton @ Chantilly (-22)
- Chantilly won 21-7, failing to cover.

9. South Lakes @ Centreville (-7)
- Centreville won and covered, 27-13. I caught parts of this game. SL had a block in the back that brought back a long touchdown in a 7-7 game early in the 2nd. Isaiah Ragland is a great RB, SL was getting pressure at the line early and he was still getting his, I was impressed. Keep feeding the kid. CVille's defense started to look tired in the 4th but they managed to get the W. CVille might be a sleeper come playoff time.

10. Stone Bridge (-28) @ Woodgrove
- SB won 34-14, failing to cover, (Rare)

11. Stuart (-7) @ Washington-Lee
- JEB won and covered, 40-28. 3 game winning streak for the Raiders.

12. Woodson @ Robinson (-35)
- Robinson won 69-27, covering while still giving up 4 touchdowns. Surprised they gave up that many points to WTW.

13. West Potomac @ South County (-29)
- West Potomac won 36-21. Upset of the year! What happened here??? I love the combo of Jordan Dennis to Brock Spalding. Dennis is only a sophomore too and will be quarterbacking for the next 2 seasons. Kudos to the Wolverines though, players & coaches both. Seems like they had the perfect game plan and executed it flawlessly.

14. West Springfield (-3) @ T.C. Williams
- WS won 24-23, but did not cover.

15. Yorktown (-14) @ Wakefield
- Yorktown beat Wakefield for the umpteenth time in a row, 34-13.

Only 2 weeks left in the regular season! Thanks to everyone that has stuck around and engaged even with the bots and the ridiculous random off-topic pictures. Just ignore that crap and let’s stick to football. Here we go…

1. Annandale @ Stuart (-10)
- Do I smell 4 wins in a row for JEB? I think I do.

2. Centreville (-21) @ Oakton
- Oakton started out 4-0, but have lost the last 4 in a row, being outscored 50 to 151 in district play. Oakton has gotten better, but the Concorde is too much for them currently. I bet they wish Herndon was still in the district.

3. Chantilly (-3) @ Westfield
- Great rivalry game, no doubt. Will Westfield show some fight? That remains to be seen. I can see Westfield winning but my gut says go with the Chargers.

4. Herndon @ Langley (-3)
- Someone will get their first win this week! Herndon is looking to end the 24 game skid, but I think Langley is the better team here and they will win at home.

5. Lee @ Falls Church (-5)
- Game will be played Saturday at 10 AM. 2 of those “bottom of the barrel” National teams…

6. Marshall (-3) @ Wakefield
- Toss up game in my mind.

7. Mount Vernon (-6) @ Hayfield
- Hayfield needs to win this game if they want a chance at the playoffs.

8. Robinson (-15) @ Fairfax
- Game of the week for me. Will Tony Rojas and co. be able to stop the run? This game will also be played on Saturday at 1 PM. Fairfax also plays on Tuesday, so look for the Rams to wear them down late.

9. South Lakes @ Madison (-17)
- Another good Concorde match-up, I think the Warhawks will be too much for the Seahawks to handle.

10. Stone Bridge (-17) @ Potomac Falls
- SB better not overlook Potomac Falls, they are a pretty good football team.

11. T.C. Williams @ South County (-21)
- Not going to be a fun night for the Titans who get a pissed off Stallion squad.

12. Washington-Lee (-3) @ McLean
- Meh. Give me W&L in a close one. Another toss up game.

13. Woodson @ Lake Braddock (-24)
- Doc loves to beat up on his old team.

14. West Springfield @ West Potomac (-3)
- Co Game of the week. A battle between two 6-2 squads with a lot of seeding implications on the line. This is a very intriguing game. I’m taking WP but I would not be surprised if they come out hungover after beating SC. They can’t do that this week, the Spartans also have a very good football team. Looking forward to this one.

******** Fairfax (-27) @ Falls Church
Game is being made up from 9/24 and will be played on Tuesday 10/26. . FC’s homecoming game is now on a Tuesday night, which is weird. Fairfax will win with ease though.

I went to this game, and you're right that it was the game of the week. I correctly picked LB to win and cover, but Fairfax had their chances in the second half. The difference was LB's deep passing game, which Fairfax's secondary didn't have much of an answer for. As one example: In the middle of the third quarter, score tied at 24 after LB and Fairfax traded touchdowns, with about 3rd & 8 at midfield, Fairfax broke through and chased LB's QB all over the backfield. He threw an incompletion but there was a holding call against LB deep in the backfield. In high school, that penalty is enforced from the spot of the foul. So, rather than declining the penalty (which is what would have happened in college or pro), Fairfax accepted the penalty. I guess they were going for field position. Instead, LB completes a long bomb for the first down. Fairfax didn't have the right defense for that down and distance, but their secondary was a weakness. Even so, they battled back from being down by 10 at one point, and had the ball deep in LB territory with three minutes left, facing 4th and six. They called a run up the middle with Rojas. That play was working for 8 yards most of the game. LB came up defensively and stopped Rojas with a 5 1/2 yard gain. Ballgame. Even with the loss, it's nice to see Fairfax putting up a competitive team.

Correctly picked Marshall to win. And I would have been right on the cover if they could have converted after their last second TD.

Correctly picked Stone Bridge to win, but I also thought they would cover.

Correctly picked Robo to win and to cover. I bet you were tempted to make the spread higher, but thanks for not doing that, so I could also pick against the spread. As for the 4 TDs, I think that two were in the second half, and probably against Robo's JV team.

Raise your hand if you had West Potomac. Yeah, I didn't think so. Neither did I.

Correctly picked West Springfield to win, but missed against the spread.

Picked Yorktown to win, but I thought they wouldn't cover.

Annandale has to be excited about their first win of the year. Unfortunately for them, it's a one game winning streak. Stuart wins and covers.

Centreville wins and covers. Don't make the spread higher, though.

Langley wins and covers. Did I say Langley would win?!? I was forced to. The alternative would be to say that Herndon would win.

Good thing Falls Church won't go winless. In fact, they'll be .500 on the week. Falls Church wins and covers. And given Lee's ability to score safeties, a five point spread is appropriate. Don't be surprised if the final score is 7-2.

Marshall wins and covers.

Does this game decide National? I think I'm going to take Hayfield to win outright.

Hmmm. Fairfax was 50 points better than Woodson, but Robo only managed to beat Woodson by 42. So does that mean that Fairfax should be favored by 8? I don't think it works that way. Of course, by that logic, Robo beat LB by 4, but Fairfax lost to Robo by 7, making Robo 11 points better than Fairfax. Based on how they did against LB, Fairfax seems to be better defensively against the run than the pass, and we all know that Robo likes to run. So I think Fairfax can keep it close. I'll take Robo to win, but not cover.

They won't. Stone Bridge wins and covers.

South County wins and covers.

I think McLean is on a roll with their win against Herndon. I'll take McLean to win outright.

Doesn't Doc's old team like to give him fits? I've seen overmatched Woodson teams give LB fits. However, Woodson is a whole different category of awful this year. LB wins and covers.

Fairfax wins and covers. But look for Fairfax's JV to play a lot in the second half, so that they are ready for Robo.

Madison is clearly the best team in the Concorde at the moment. However they will have to play atleast 2 Concorde teams in the playoffs if things stay the same. If any of the other coaches in the district can get their teams to not beat themselves i.e no dumb penalties, gap sound assignment football madison will have trouble. Madison has been winning by not beating themselves not by being better. Centreville is more talented they just play worse football. Playoffs should be interesting to see if anyone can put athlete madison.

The way to beat Centreville is to contain Ragland... he has been ripping off multiple 40+ yd runs per game (many of them touchdowns). He only had one really long run against Madison (and a few 10-15 yd ones), plus one of the Wildcats touchdowns he was the decoy Madison keyed on.

The only thing Westfield had that worked against Madison was a heavy power running game in the first series in Q3 running a DE as FB and a MLB at RB... and sub'ing in other defensive players on offense. That is a hard way to win for those players to go both ways more than a drive or two, even w/ platooning them in/out like Westfield was.

As it stands now in power points Madison would face the winner of Westfield/Yorktown in the second round... and agree likely Centreville in the 6D final.

That could have a big impact on next weeks games, short week or play next Saturday.

Its not so much the rain on the field itself, I think the flooding of the streets (forecasting 2-4 inches or more of rain in some areas)makes it difficult for transportation of the busses to get players to and from games. If FCPS closes schools for the evening, which is a possibility, then all activities are cancelled any way!

Westfield's a pretty scrappy team. Their defense played a solid game and the QB finally played a mostly mistake-free game. Down 14-0, Chantilly's Gobaira had a spectacular forced fumble and then return for a TD seconds before halftime to get Chantilly back in the game. Westfield lost a couple of their best defensive players in the second half and Chantilly took advantage driving for a 4th quarter TD but the XP was blocked. Westfield was able to run about 6 minutes off the clock and Chantilly used up all their timeouts. Chantilly had a bit of a drive going but with no timeouts and only 30 seconds left in the game they couldn't run the ball. Ended with an interception around the Westfield 30. Tight game from start to finish.

Robinson has turned the ball over twice and has no answer for the Fairfax passing game. Fairfax tried to go with a run/pass mix but after they figured out they were not going to have success with the run they went to passing more and it has paid off. The Fairfax defense has given up some big chunks to Robinson running plays, but hasn't really been broken. And when Robinson does try to pass, like late in the second quarter after falling behind by 10, they absolutely suck at it.

1. Annandale @ Stuart (-10)
- JEB won and covered, 51-20. The Atoms end the year at 2-8.

2. Centreville (-21) @ Oakton
- Centreville won 32-20, but did not cover.

3. Chantilly (-3) @ Westfield
- Westfield with the upset 14-13. I saw the end of this game and Westfield got it done in the 4th when it mattered, fantastic coaching down the stretch. They ran 5 or so minutes off the clock before giving Chantilly the ball back with around 2 minutes left. Chantilly had a holding (?) penalty and on the next play WF intercepted the ball, thus ending the game.

4. Herndon @ Langley (-3)
- Langley won and covered, 33-21. Herndon remains winless.

5. Lee @ Falls Church (-5)
- Falls Church won and covered, 35-14. One user said Lee had 6 kids on the sideline? Wow...

6. Marshall (-3) @ Wakefield
- Wakefield won 14-10, probably pushing them into the playoffs and pushing Marshall out.

7. Mount Vernon (-6) @ Hayfield
- Hayfield won 47-35, this one surprised me. MV had 2 big pass plays for touchdowns early in which Hayfield blitzed a safety both times and the slot receiver just ran a fly route and scored both times. I suppose Hayfield was expecting a run heavy game plan in the rain. Nonetheless, they ajusted and got the win.

8. Robinson (-15) @ Fairfax
- Fairfax won this one, 52-28. I checked this one out to see if Fairfax is for real, and folks, they are, I did not know Rojas is also a RB who can catch passes out of the backfield, he is very versatile. #1 (Za'Marion Williams) is a fantastic, tall, long receiver who scored multiple times. Amir Green (#2) also caught my eye. Fairfax kicked a FG to go up 9-7 with 1:45 until halftime and on the ensuing kickoff, Robinson fumbled on their own 28 and #1 caught another TD, they thconverted the 2 and went to the locker room up 17-7. That turnover and 2 point conversion was the momentum changer in my mind. Rojas had a 40 yard completion on 3rd down in the 3rd and the next play he had another 40 yard catch for a score. Robinson still has no QB. They have a good running offense and running defense but struggle with passing offense and stopping the pass on defense.

9. South Lakes @ Madison (-17)
- Madison won and covered, 34-6.

10. Stone Bridge (-17) @ Potomac Falls
- SB won and covered, 42-0.

11. T.C. Williams @ South County (-21)
- South County won and covered, 34-10.

12. Washington-Lee (-3) @ McLean
- McLean won 30-16.

13. Woodson @ Lake Braddock (-24)
- Lake Braddock beat up on Woodson, 55-7.

14. West Springfield @ West Potomac (-3)
- West Springfield won 59-56, hell of a game. WS erased an 11 point deficit in the 4th to win. West Po scored late to get within 3 and tried an onside kick with 1:15 left in the game and WS recovered, sealing the game. Fantastic game, more like a shootout.

******** Fairfax (-27) @ Falls Church
- Fairfax won and covered, 49-14. 2 wins on the week for Fairfax. I wish they played SoCo in the regular season.

Hard to believe it's already the final week of the regular season, whew this thing really flew by. And to only have 1 game cancelled is remarkable. After watching a few games this weekend (highlights for some) its apparent to me that there’s 2 tiers of good teams in Fairfax. Lake Braddock/Fairfax/Robinson are all great teams but they are a tier below Centreville/Madison/South County. Anyway, let's get into this weeks' slate…

1. Chantilly @ Madison (-15)
- Madison better not overlook them in preparation for the playoffs. A Chantilly loss would put them at 5-5.

2. Fairfax (-9) @ West Springfield
- Looking forward to this game. Manny Baskervile is going to have to have a big night if the Spartans want a chance.

3. Falls Church @ Mount Vernon (-24)
- Well, at least FC has one win on the year.

4. Hayfield (-20) @ Edison
- The classic Bird Bowl. Hayfield has won this match-up at least the last 10 times. Look for Hayfield to beat up on Edison. I don’t think it will be enough to get them in the playoffs, they need some help.

5. Independence @ Stone Bridge (-17)
- My Loudoun game of the week. Independence is a new school with good basketball and football programs. Indy started 7-0 before losing 2 in a row to Woodgrove and Loudoun County. I think SB will be fine if they do what they do.

6. Lee @ Stuart (-28)
- Lee will be put out of misery after this week (the season ends).

7. Marshall (-10) @ Herndon
- Herndon’s last chance this year to end that 25 game losing streak.

8. McLean (-8) @ Langley
- Is this still a rivalry game like it used to be?

9. South County (-17) @ Lake Braddock
- Game of the week for me. LB has the film of the West Po game. Can Doc draw up a game plan that’s similar and stun the Stallions? We will see. I love this rivalry match-up every year in football and basketball.

10. South Lakes (-13) @ Oakton
- I don’t foresee any problems for the Seahawks in this one.

11. T.C. Williams (-21) @ Woodson
- I wanted to make the spread higher. The Titans are on a 5 game losing streak. Look for them to take out all that anger on WTW. Titans win big.

12. Washington-Lee @ Yorktown (-21)
- Game will be played on Saturday at 330 PM. Game should be over by about 4.

13. West Potomac @ Robinson (-13)
Another intriguing match-up. The Wolverines who knocked off SoCo (proving they have what it takes) against a pissed off group of Rams. Looking forward to this one.

14. Westfield @ Centreville (-7)
Co-game of the week. Will Shields finally be able to beat Simmons? WF will have to stop Isaiah Ragland and Centreville will need to limit the penalties. Also looking forward to this one.

Some interesting results in Region C the last few weeks. All the top teams have shown some cracks when attacked with certain schemes. SoCo is the only team that has demonstrated they can play defense so I still have to say they are the favorite. That is why I would forecast a SoCo-Madison repeat for the state semis. Although upsets are clearly possible. With the parity in Region C coaching is going to be a premium in the playoffs.

Region D. Centreville is not far behind but Madison is clearly a better overall team. I was at the Centreville-Madison game and Madison has no weaknesses. Coaching, running, passing, defense, special teams. Solid everywhere.

Correctly picked Stuart to win and cover. Looking at the standings, this win, coupled with the Hayfield/ Mt. Vernon result puts Stuart above the playoff line, for National's sole representative. They have Lee this week, which means they are a shoo-in for the playoffs.
>
> 2. Centreville (-21) @ Oakton
> - Centreville won 32-20, but did not cover.

I have a report that the score was actually 42-20. If that is correct, I correctly picked Centreville to win and cover. My comment about not making the spread much higher also proved prescient.

I took Chantilly to win and cover, based on how bad Westfield has been this year. Wrong on both counts. Westfield picked this week to finally put together a good game.

Under duress (see my original post), I correctly picked Langley to win and cover.

Correctly picked Falls Church to win and cover. Unfortunately, Lee actually scored a touchdown (two of them!) making my 7-2 prediction of a final score off.

Picked Marshall to win and cover, missing on both counts.

I picked Hayfield (the underdog) to win outright, making my winner pick and my spread pick both correct.

I picked Robo to win, but not cover. Got the spread part of this pick correct. I tuned in to this game through NFHS streaming, and I caught the fumble going into halftime, and all of the second half. This game was more entertaining than many college game on at the same time. The third quarter was back and forth. Fairfax's defense had trouble stopping the Robo ground attack the entire third quarter, but fortunately for Fairfax, they generated offense to never allow Robo to get closer than three. In the 4th, they finally figured out how to stop the run attack, and stopped Robo in a key 4th and 6 to help seal with win. Tremendous win for the Rebels/Lions, and good for their program to come back from the depths it was in so recently.

Thanks, again, for doing this all this season. I've had fun making my picks and testing out the spreads all season.

My week 11 picks:

I'm a bit nervous about this big of a spread, but I'll take Madison to win and cover.

Can't believe that Fairfax is a favorite against a team like West Springfield. However, if they can beat Robo as big as they did, they should be able to handle West Springfield. Fairfax wins and covers.
>
> 3. Falls Church @ Mount Vernon (-24)
> - Well, at least FC has one win on the year.

And they'll have only one. Mt. Vernon wins and covers. I suspect that Mt. Vernon will be more interest in watching the scoreboard, and hoping that Lee upsets Stuart (HA!) or that Woodson upsets TCW (HA!, as well, though this one has a better chance). Mt. Vernon's loss to Hayfield almost certainly eliminated them from the playoffs.

Don't think this spread is high enough. Hayfield wins and covers. They'll also be scoreboard watching.

Stone Bridge wins and covers.

Stuart wins and covers, and secures themselves a playoff berth, possibly the sole representative from National.

Wait till next year, Herndon. Marshall wins and covers. I might have been tempted to say Marshall wouldn't cover, given their loss to Wakefield, but I'll give the points.

Fun fact: I went to a McLean game earlier this season. Their PA announcer made it a point to announce the score of the Langley game that was going on at the same time, and taking particular glee in pointing out that Langley was losing. So, I think these teams still hate each other. I'll take McLean to win and cover.

This is a lot of points to give. I'll take SoCo to win, but not cover.

South Lakes wins and covers.

I hadn't noticed that TCW was on a losing streak. But so is Woodson, and Woodson is awful this year. Woodson might be encouraged by all the Hayfield and Mt. Vernon fans who will be rooting for them this week, but will it be enough? I don't think so. TCW gets off the schneid, wins and covers.

Curious why this game got moved to Saturday. I don't think either of these had a make up this week. Regardless, and despite this being a "rivalry", Yorktown wins and covers.

I watched the Centreville game and they did not keep score like most broadcasts do but i want to say I FAINTLY heard the announcer say Wildcats 32 Cougars 20. Centreville’s website has it 49-20 and Maxpreps has it 42-20. Your guess is as good as mine...

It was 42-20 Centreville.

They got the running clock then put in the JV team

yeah I loved using that website I wonder why it stopped getting updated. Seems like something the actual VHSL shouldve bought and ran themselves, or created their own version. That sort of tool is good for high school football.

What happened is they got woke, starting making political tweets and blocking like half of their followers... and now they are done.

Can Westfield jump ahead of Cville on the standings if they beat them Friday Night??

No. Madison and Centreville have locked up 1st and 2nd. Westfield will get 3rd with a win over Centreville, but a loss puts them 4th assuming Yorktown wins (they play Washington-Liberty). Chantilly will almost certainly lose to Madison so they cannot jump Westfield or Yorktown. Spots 5-8 depend on what happens in South Lakes vs Oakton and if Wakefield beats Marshall. My guess is South Lakes and Marshall win, so South Lakes probably ends up 5th or 6th (Chantilly gets the other spot) and Oakton is out. It is a very close between Marshall and Wakefield for 7-8.

It should end up like this if every game plays out as expected:

1. Madison
2. Centreville
3. Westfield/Yorktown
4. Yorktown/Westfield
5-8. Chantilly/South Lakes/Wakefield/Marshall/Oakton

A little over half the teams make the playoffs. Due to the unbalanced scheduling they really cannot reduce the playoff field. No one can argue that Yorktown deserves to be in the playoffs over Westfield or Chantilly or South Lakes. The other region has even more playoff worthy teams. Plus football is still the only HS sport that doesn’t include everyone in its postseason.

Not that solid. Wakefield beat Marshall last week. Marshall plays winless Herndon and with the win they will sneak in as the 8 seed if Oakton loses to South Lakes. I cannot see Oakton winning, but may be wrong as I've seen neither school play.

Wakefield has their bye week this week , they don’t play again until the first round of Regionals (if they get in)

So Wakefield won’t gain many points this week and will most likely be a 7/8 seed along with Marshall at the other spot. Oakton will lose to SL and drop out, SL will jump to a 5 seed. Chantilly will lose to Madison but will gain points to be a 6 seed. Just my guess. Never know what will pan out.

too bad oakton is going to drop out. I think theyre better than wakefield and marshall. Neither of those teams are that great imo.

Yes i know marshall played westfield close. Wfield was probably just asleep at the wheel as they were earlier in the season.

I wish that were true, but Marshall had one of two things that Westfield has little answer for this season-a very good RB with a solid line. That is why that game was close.

Any Concorde team will beat the shit out of any Liberty district team they see in the playoffs. Westfield needs to hope they get a team like Yorktown in the 1st round

Have they beat one team with a winning record this year? Have they won a playoff game this century? No knock on them, but the Liberty is not the Concorde. Yorktown who will win the Liberty lost to last place Oakton who will not make playoffs.

Unless something drastic happens, Westfield is going to get South Lakes or Chantilly in the first round. Yorktown will get the other team of those two that WF does not play because those four teams are going to most likely finish 3-6.

I found this interview online of Mickey Thompson a while back and forgot to post it here. I watched the whole thing over time but it’s long. In the first 30 minutes he talks about recruiting and how he does it. Basically says he allows anyone to use the field at anytime and other kids from other schools come and he “builds relationships.” Seems to me he’s running SBHS like A private program

Without even watching this, He has the relationship with the 3rd party trainers who usually also run the middle school club teams in the areas. Those guys are likely running camps on the SB Field & making $$$ off it. He gets in the kids and parent ears while they are there...Tried and true practice for how the power programs were built in Florida, GA, Tx... Also, he is just far enough away that his kids aren't going into DC or play for the Maryland Academy schools, DeMatha, etc..

I am sure Simmons was doing exactly the same thing when he was winning those state titles. The money has left for another program, so.... Westfield is just an average Northern VA Team.

The exact recipe is used for Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, etc. Coaches call it relationships. But it's really whomever is producing the $$$ for the most gets the players..

I have heard the same thing regarding basketball and open gym as well. The kids come and make relationships. The youth teams thing seems legit. That’s how Darryl Overton at Freedom gets his kids.

You have zero idea what you are talking about. Westfield was good up until 2020 because they took above average players, mixed in a handful or Div I college players, and then molded them into a TEAM. Although some youth groups do share the Westfield athletic fields, Westfield DOES NOT host that many - if ANY - camps and combines other than for their own HS players and a few select high schools that participate with them. If you want to talk about recruiting, lately it has been Shields at Centreville who has been in a few players ears.

How many coaches associated with Westfield are involved with the 3rd party trainers & middle school feeder programs? I suspect very little now BUT in the 20teens, I bet they were heavily involved.

Can you say that with certainty at Centreville? Same accusations were made against Hayfield. I know Centreville’s best 2 basketball players on their state championship team did not live on the CV district
