You are correct. Westfield did nothing special that any other NOVA school was or was not doing. There were a few exceptions (Asante, Kim) but for the most part Westfield just had a long run of above average athletes coming through the system. I know this is so because I remember them being in local elementary and middle school when my kids were younger. Right now for a variety of reasons some of the better local athletes are ending up at Centreville. And Centreville has always been more active with recruiting than Westfield.

The 2020 Westfield was good don’t be a casual. Yes they went 3-3 in a 6 game season so on the surface it seems that way but they would’ve gone 7-3 with a 10 game slate. Also they could’ve beat madison or Chantilly in the playoffs both games were 1 possession games lost to Chantilly by a point on a bad snap or they go to the playoffs and face madison. And Chantilly 2020 was legit

Other poster is right about Westfield not being in the conversation any more. Went to game last night and never had any real sense that Westfield could beat Centreville. Plus Centreville could have easily scored 2-3 more touchdowns, 20-0 does not highlight how much of a win it was in reality.

If he tackled with his head leading into a player, shame on his coaches!! He's been doing that to deliver big hits the whole time @ SoCo. Otherwise, it just sounds like he got what he's been dishing out for a while.. Hope he gets better and learns from this.. But without Spalding, they won't get far in the playoffs.

For those of us that have grown tired of the above BS on FFU. I highly suggest abandonment of this site & participation of the VaPreps.com threads. There are posters on FFU that could take the Class 6 threads on VaPreps to another level and FFU can drown in it's own filth.

- No Cost unless you want to pay for premium access.
- You set up your account to get email notifications for updated posts, etc.
- It's well moderated and abusive accounts get closed pretty quickly if necessary.
- Reading about how the areas of the state and other classes are progressing throughout the year is fairly entertaining as well.

Fairfax destroyed robinson. Robinson couldn't stop anything. Everyone is beatable no one is safe. Doesn't look good for nova in state championship.

I was at the Robinson/Fairfax game. Fairfax made some plays and deserved to win but I wouldn’t count on Robinson having 3 turnovers and giving up 4-5 3rd and forevers again. That score could have easily been flipped if a couple breaks go the other way.
Region C is wide open. I think any of the top 6 can win in round one, but probably only Robinson, Lake Braddock, Fairfax, and SoCo can win the region.

1. Chantilly @ Madison (-15)
- Madison won and covered, 36-14. Madison's only loss came to SB who they surely won't be playing again this year. (Class 5)

2. Fairfax (-9) @ West Springfield
- Fairfax won and covered, 42-28.

3. Falls Church @ Mount Vernon (-24)
- MV won 36-21, failing to cover. I truly believe they could've won by 60 if they wanted to. But with it being senior night and being eliminated from the playoffs, I bet Monty let a lot of reserves play.

4. Hayfield (-20) @ Edison
- Hayfield won and covered, 28-6. QB/DB Braylon Wheeler was suspended and did not play. Hayfield finishes on a 4 game winning streak, to finish 5-5. Their JV team went 8-0 and freshmen went 7-1. Looks like Aziz may be able to turn things around over there.

5. Independence @ Stone Bridge (-17)
- Stone Bridge whopped Indy 56-7. I watched this game and I did not expect it to be this much of a blowout. Jacob Thomas is a great QB (he played WR last year) and he has tons of talent around him. I wish I could recall some names but every player wearing a single digit number over there can play. Mickey's offense is so much fun to watch. Expect to see them in the State Championship.

6. Lee @ Stuart (-28)
- Stuart won and covered, 56-14.

7. Marshall (-10) @ Herndon
- Marshall won 38-0. Herndon finishes 0-9, and the losing streak is now at 26 games.

8. McLean (-8) @ Langley
- Langley with the upset, 24-21. Gotta love these rivalry games.

9. South County (-17) @ Lake Braddock
- LB stunned SoCo 20-6, WOW! Looks like Doc did steal a page out of Wp's playbook. I read on here Spaulding went down with a concussion, but surely they have more talent than just him. I am now casting doubt on a long playoff run for the Stallions. Big quality win for Doc and his crew.

10. South Lakes (-13) @ Oakton
- SL won and covered 36-20, nailed this one!

11. T.C. Williams (-21) @ Woodson
- T.C. snuck by 27-22, failing to cover. They did, however, make the playoffs with the win.

12. Washington-Lee @ Yorktown (-21)
- Yorktown won 23-9, failing to cover.

13. West Potomac @ Robinson (-13)
- Robinson won and covered, 42-19.

14. Westfield @ Centreville (-7)
- Centreville shutout Westfield 20-0. As I have previously said, it's a down year for the Bulldogs. The Wildcats on the other hand, seem legit.

Hard to believe the playoffs are already here! This season flew by.

@Live, I am also on VA Preps/rivals, I usually use it for football and basketball recruiting. I will probably be more active and post on the threads there next season. Shoutout to you (Live), Nufan, Nova Fan, Concorde, football fan,Steve K2 (real or fake Steve K2?) etc. I’m sure I’m missing others. It’s been great talking HS football with you all. I plan on making a 2022 thread on here after this season ends and I will continue posting my spreads on here. Although it’s not the same as it used to be 10 years ago, I still enjoy it. I will also post them on VA Preps next year because the guy doing it now is clueless. (Lol joking…kinda) I get on here and read this thread every Sunday before I post and while the random pictures and nonsense is annoying, its bearable. You guys make it enjoyable and I hope you enjoy my insight. Alright, here we go….

****** VHSL is releasing the official playoff brackets later this afternoon but I have prior engagements with the wife. However, myself and a few others have agreed these are what the match-ups will be. If anything is different when the official match-ups are released, I will come back tonight and edit accordingly.

1. Chantilly @ Centreville (-14)
- My game of the week. 1 pretty average team and one above average team. The Wildcats won by 14 on the road back in October so they know what to expect, in terms of schemes, etc. I don’t think the Wildcats will have much trouble, but they better come ready.

2. Independence @ Stone Bridge (-28)
- Expect to see something similar to what you saw last week. SB has a smaller O-Line than they’ve had in years past. Indy needs to blitz them hard to try and slow down the lethal Bulldogs attack.

3. Marshall @ Madison (-30)
- Game should be over by halftime.

4. South Lakes (-3) @ Yorktown
- Co-game of the week. I love this matchup. It’s a toss up in my mind though. Bruce Hansen is the better coach, but SL is more battle tested. I can easily see the Patriots winning, but I will give the Seahawks the slight advantage.

5. Stuart @ Lake Braddock (-30)
- Another one that will be over by halftime.

6. T.C. Williams @ Robinson (-17)
- I love this match-up. Athletes vs. Physical, punishing football. The Rams will wear them down and prevail.

7. Wakefield @ Westfield (-28)
Yet another one that will be over midway through the 3rd. I wanted to make the spread higher…

8. West Potomac @ Fairfax (-20)
- Fairfax defeated the Wolverines by 20 back in October on the road. Expect something similar on Friday night.

9. West Springfield @ South County (-21)
- The Spartans get a pissed off Stallions squad, not good. They beat WS 41-3 in October, I expect it to be a blowout this time around also. I do wonder if WS would be better or worse if their starting QB had not gotten hurt for the year. Baskerville has done a good job. Anyway, Stallions win big.

******* AGAIN, these are projections. I’m 99% sure these will be the match-ups, but as I said above, if anything changes, I will check later tonight and make adjustments if necessary.

There's a big discrepancy in Region 6C between Patriot and National, as the playoffs above show. However, one National Team was bound to get in, Justice in this case. Lake Braddock draws them, which is effectively a first round bye.

This lucky turn of events for Lake Braddock is as a result of a flaw in the VHSL Power Points system. In their system, you get 26 points for beating a 6A team, 14 points for losing to a 6A team. In addition, you get 2 points for each win by a team you have defeated and one point for each win by a team you played that you didn't defeat. Lake Braddock and Fairfax ended up tied in points. The tiebreaker is head to head, and Lake Braddock gets that by virtue of their win over Fairfax.

However, Fairfax was possibly shorted two points. One of their opponents, Wakefield had a game cancelled (against Herndon), that was not made up. This appears to be the only Region 6C or Region 6D game that was not made up. Had that game been played, it's likely that Wakefield would have won. The result is two more points for Fairfax, placing them in second, and giving them Justice, and giving Lake Braddock West Potomac, instead.

Maybe as a result of this, Lake Braddock will get to avoid choking in the first round this year (for the first time in Doc's tenure at Lake Braddock).

Review of my picks

Correctly picked Madison to win and cover. I was nervous about a 15 point spread, but I see that I shouldn't have been.
>
> 2. Fairfax (-9) @ West Springfield
> - Fairfax won and covered, 42-28.

Correctly picked Fairfax to win and cover. Great season for Fairfax. Two years ago, they would have been a nine point, or greater underdog, and West Springfield likely would have covered even that spread.

Correctly picked Mt. Vernon to win, but I thought they would cover. Your explanation for their failure to cover makes sense.

Correctly picked Hayfield to win and cover. Based on this news, would they be early favorites to win National next year?

Correctly picked Stuart to win and cover.

Correctly picked Marshall to win and cover.

I picked McLean to both win and cover. I really blew this one. Given that it's a rivalry, it was a sucker bet on my part.
>

I took SoCo to win, but not cover. Got the pick against the spread right, as a consolation prize for getting the straight up pick wrong.
>

Correctly picked South Lakes to win and cover.
>
> 11. T.C. Williams (-21) @ Woodson
> - T.C. snuck by 27-22, failing to cover. They did,

Correctly picked TCW to win. I also picked them to cover, and got that part wrong. TCW should be ashamed of themselves for not being able to beat Woodson by more than five points.
>
> 12. Washington-Lee @ Yorktown (-21)
> - Yorktown won 23-9, failing to cover.

I picked Yorktown to win AND to cover. Since this is a rivalry game, that was a sucker bet also, though at least I got the winner right (I also thought Yorktown would cover).
>
> 13. West Potomac @ Robinson (-13)

Picked Robo to win. Got that right, but I also thought they wouldn't cover.

Stone Bridge wins and covers.

This is a lot of points to give, and there is some rivalry between Madison and Marshall. However, Madison is the class of 6D, and Marshall barely squeaked in. I'll take Madison and give the points.

I agree, this might be the toughest call of all the playoff games. But I think the Concorde Schedule will give South Lakes the edge. I'll take South Lakes to win and cover.
>
> 5. Stuart @ Lake Braddock (-30)

Did I read above that Lake Braddock lucked into this draw? I'll take them to win, but I don't think they'll cover.

> 6. T.C. Williams @ Robinson (-17)
> - I love this match-up. Athletes vs. Physical,

A team that could only beat Woodson by five points doesn't stand a chance against Robo. I'll take Robo to win and cover.
>

Westfield wins and covers.

Being in the playoffs is a new experience for Fairfax, and especially being high enough to get a first round home game. As I recall, West Potomac played Fairfax tough in the regular season. I think Fairfax is the better team though. I'll take them to win, but not cover.

I saw West Springfield play against Fairfax on Friday night. That kid has an arm, and that arm was enough to keep West Springfield close. I think South County wins, but given questions about Spaulding's availability, I don't think they'll cover.

There is no "flaw" in the Power Points system. As you point out Lake Braddock got lucky. Fairfax could have easily fixed this "flaw" by beating them - but they lost. So maybe LB actually earned this "lucky" break.

Another thing you are completely wrong about is your comment about "Doc." He is 2-2 in first round playoff games at Lake Braddock.

Why so many haters on Doc?
He rescued a down and out program and brought it back to life.
He consistently wins 6-7 games sometimes more a year and makes the playoffs.
He has sent more players to the next level, then most other programs combined in the region.
He does all this with minimal talent, that he and the staff develop and coach up.
Lets face it, how many other programs in this area, would love to have Doc leading the charge for them?
Go Bruins!

Wasn't Shields CVille's head coach during their 2019 season, which ended with their defeat at Madison in the 1st round of playoffs?

Ever since Chantilly lost to Robinson, competent opponents have just been successfully mimicking a heavy run offense; if Chantilly still doesn't have an answer for that by Friday, then it's over for the kind-of-a-let-down Chargers.

Nowadays it’s hard to gauge the true strength of a few traditional NOVA playoff caliber teams during the regular season. They play vanilla ball, rarely have kids playing two-ways, and apparently keep as many parents “happy” as they can.

Example, Chantilly had 2-3 players max playing both ways in the regular season last season. In the Region D Championship, Chantilly was running 5-6 players playing both ways against Madison in the second half.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Chantilly gives Centreville a really tough game tomorrow.

This is the biggest crock of shit I’ve ever heard. It’s called players getting injured.

Concorde...

Westfield tried that to open the second half against Madison with MLB Yaokouame at RB and DE Owens at FB. They made really good progress down the field, but missed a FG on that series. They couldn't keep doing it, Yaokouame went on/off a couple times of a leg injury later...

I agree, unless players have the conditioning to go both ways, a key series maybe, but a full game, that's how kids get injured.

While chantilly will undoubtedly play hard, I still give the edge to Centreville based largely off my memory of the Rowley Oakton years. His defenses routinely got torched in the playoffs, when he was the HC, as he was too arrogant to make adjustments. Braddock put up 50 on his 8-2 2011 team, and in 2015, his cougars gave up three touchdowns in the 4th quarter to South Lakes. The only playoff games he won as HC at Oakton were when he had an all state QB in Kyle Downer.

He’s been blessed with No. 9 the last two years. It will not be enough.

Rowley is a terrible coach could do a decent job coaching against the wing-t but could never figure out Westfield or anyone else in the Concorde. They will get blown out last years win against south lakes only happened because south lakes got covid and didn’t practice for 2 weeks still only won 7-0.

Rowley’s scheme is usually pretty effective when stopping the run. They seem to struggle with the deep ball and lose games because there dbs are constantly getting burnt, in the past at least. If Centreville can establish a run game early on forcing the secondary to make tackles, the passing game will open up.

All you people killing Rowley on here must’ve forgot that Sean Curry is the head football coach at Chantilly not Jason Rowley. Also our defense has been pretty good over the last couple years but we haven’t been able to score any points. I’m pretty sure Curry is responsible for that. I’m starting to think some of you might be Sean Curry. He’s the king of placing blame on others.

Westfield stinks! They had a freshman WR lead team in receptions. WHS didn’t use their D1, P5 TE in passing game. Maybe caught 1 pass. CVHS should win 49-0 by 3rd qtr. I don’t ever recall WHS QB play being so poor, ever!
