So let me get this right, Doc from Lake Braddock just won his 100 game as a HFC last night?
He has been a HFC for 18 plus years, so that's like winning an average of about 5 games a year? Is that really something to be proud of?
I noticed they dont mention how many district, regional and state championships he has won during that time frame

Patriot District is doing quite well in the out-of-district schedule. A lot of strong teams here. To bad Robinson and South County won't meet in the regular season.

Concorde District is probably no longer the premier Fairfax County football conference. I think Patriot might be a little bit stronger. It's close. Centreville and Chantilly will challenge Madison but I think Madison wins the Concorde again. Westfield is clearly an also-ran this season. Will be lucky to reach 5 wins. Oakton no longer a total pushover.

1. Annandale @ Bishop O’Connell (-9)
- O'Connell won and covered, 30-6.

2. Centreville (-38) @ Woodson
- Centrevile won 43-14, failing to cover. WTW with a garbage time TD.

3. Edison @ Fairfax (-17)
- Fairfax won and covered, 55-14 on Homecoming. It was 42-0 at halftime. National district ball is a special kind of bad this year.

4. Lee @ West Potomac (-40)
- West Po won and covered easily. 48-0. It was 35-0 after 1 and West Po covered my spread by halftime. (They were up 45-0) West Po's JV guys were making big pushes against Lee's Varsity players.

5. Lightridge @ Thomas Jefferson (-3)
- Lightridge won 35-3, totally missed on this one. Maybe TJ shouldn't play a VHSl schedule after all?

6. Madison (-24) @ Marshall
- Madison won and covered, 33-7. Almost nailed this one! It was 6-0 at halftime and then the Warhawks woke up.

7. Oakton @ West Springfield (-8)
- West Springfield won and covered, 42-28. I watched a little of this one. They were down 7 at the half and came back. Oakton was winning for the majority of the game. WS was still without Adrian Mejia (QB1) but they still looked good. WS also had a touchdown called back right as the half ended. Oakton's QB Nick Tool (spelling?) is a stud. Has a good arm and made great throws all night aside from a last second INT in the 4th. Noal Tool (Spelling?) is a great receiver for Oakton as well. Looks like his brother is the QB. Oakton may pull an upset in the Concorde.

8. South County (-28) @ Mount Vernon
- Stalions roll, 52-7. Running clock 2nd half. MV REALLY fell off...

9. South Lakes @ Lake Braddock (-17)
- Lake Braddock won and covered, 65-35. Where was the defense? It was 35-28 at half. First time LB scored 65 since 9/28/18 when they beat Oakton 65-0.

10. Stone Bridge (-20) @ Broad Run
- I confused 0-5 Briar Woods with Broad Run, my apologizes. SB won and covered, 64-7, they would've covered my original spread. Shoutout to the naysayers saying I was wrong, SB would lose, etc. How do you feel now? SB won't lose until the state tournament,

11. T.C. Williams @ Chantilly (-6)
- Chantilly won and covered, 41-27. I watched the first half of this game and was very intrigued. Chantilly's QB makes good decisions, their RB (#5) is an absolute monster, Chantilly also has a very stout D-Line and LB core. TC didn't roll over to their credit, TC is very athletic, their QB is a duel threat who can hurt you with his arms or his legs. I was also impressed with #1 on T.C. Long, lanky WR/CB.I did not watch the 2nd half but my guess would be Chantilly wore the Titans down.

12. Wakefield (-3) @ Herndon
- Game was postponed. Who had virus issues?

13. Yorktown (-21) @ McLean
- Yorktown won and covered, 42-0.

- South County at Woodbridge was made up on Tuesday unbeknownst to me. The original spread was SoCO (-17) and I probably wouldn't of moved the line that much. SoCo's website said they won 35-14, MaxPreps says the same, Woodbridge's site said they lost 13-35... You be the judge. They covered, nonetheless.

Week 7 already ladies & gents. 2nd game was PPD last Friday, which is great given we are more than halfway done with the season. I wonder if those games will be made up? Anyway, lots of good games this week with district play starting. Lets get into it…

1. Briar Woods @ Stone Bridge (-42)
- Had Briar confused with Broad Run last week. 0-6 Broad Run is screwed. Making the spread (-42) is a risk with it being Homecoming, but we all know Mickey loves running it up.

2. Centreville @ Chantilly (-3)
- Game of the week for me. We will see where these teams are as they both played cupcakes up until now. (Aside from CVille/Stone Bridge) I think Chantilly’s stout D as well as their talented RB will be enough to get the win. Should be a great game. Centreville’s 4 straight road games will also end after this week.

3. Fairfax @ West Potomac (6)
- Rolling with the more athletic Wolverines at home. Fairfax may surprise some. I did not know about Tony Rojas, he has some impressive offers and I’m sure he’s kept his team in some of these games. Nonetheless, I like the Wolverines.

4. Falls Church @ Edison (-3)
- Meh. Toss up game. Can’t believe I’m picking Edison. How did Edison beat McLean? I’m taking them as favorites because they are at home and its their Homecoming game, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose.

5. Hayfield (-8) @ Stuart
- Look for Hayfield to run the table in the National District.

6. Herndon @ Yorktown (-22)
- Enjoy the HC win, Patriots.

7. Langley @ Washington-Lee (-3)
- Two 0-5 teams, someone will get their first win which is great. This is a toss up game to me but I like the Generals in a close one at home.

8. McLean @ Wakefield (-7)
- McLean is horrible and Wakefield has 2 wins on the year, so give me them at home.

9.Mount Vernon (-7) @ Annandale
- MV is on a down year, but Annandale is very bad. MV may win by 21+.

10. Oakton @ Madison (-22)
- The good ole Outback Bowl. Is this still a rivalry? Anyway, Madison with ease.

11. Robinson (-17) @ West Springfield
- Almost made this co-game of the week. Look for the Rams to do what they do, run the ball heavy. I don’t think WS will be able to stop it and they were really challenged by 2 lower tier teams in Oakton and Hayfield. The Rams keep rolling!

12. T.C. Williams @ Lake Braddock (-6)
- Co-game of the week. I really like this match-up. LB will have to neutralize the athletes T.C. presents, T.C. is going to have to play a very disciplined game. Can’t wait for this one.

13. Thomas Jefferson (-7) @ Lee
- Can’t believe I just picked TJ, but here we are. In 5 games now, Lee has 4 points. They have lost 13 in a row and haven’t won since 11/1/19 against FC. Questioning how much longer that program will last.

14. Woodson @ South County (-38)
- Easy W for SoCo, wish they played Robinson in the regular season.

15. Westfield (-10) @ South Lakes
- SL has fallen off and something tells me Simmons wants to make a statement. Might be a brutal welcoming to the Concorde for the Seahawks.

Stone Bridge might be the best team in VA this year. Too bad they're not in Class 6. But I am hearing that even Highland Springs is considering themselves an underdog vs SB this year. We will likely find out the first week in December & the Springers would have to travel up to Ashburn to play that game!

Correctly Picked Centreville to win. Consistently with my policy, I don't pick against the spread when it's more than 35 points, and this game illustrates why. Centreville was up 43-0 at the half, and should have put up more points against a truly pathetic Woodson team. But I'd guess that the Centreville Coaches decided to give their seconds, thirds, and fourths some playing time (as they should), and that allowed Woodson some garbage time points. The scoreboard will show that Centreville won by "only" 29, but they are really twice that amount of points better than Woodson.

Correctly picked Fairfax to win and cover. Fairfax has feasted on cupcake competition so far. Their program was a shambles not too long ago, so they needed this kind of scheduling to recover. Getting wins is always better than losing, but you still have to wonder how good they really are. We'll find out this week.

Correctly picked West Springfield to win and cover. Oakton is like Fairfax; their program was a shambles not so long ago. It's nice to see them get some wins, but I was skeptical that they could hang with West Springfield. My pick reflects that skepticism, and it paid off for me.

Correctly picked Lake Braddock to win. I didn't think they would cover, and I got that part wrong. Not sure what's up at South Lakes.

Correctly picked Stone Bridge to win and cover. And thank you for lowering the spread, so that I could pick against the spread (the original was 38 points, which I don't pick against). That allowed me to put two points up on the board.

Correctly picked Yorktown to win, but I didn't think they would cover, which I got wrong. McLean's football program appeared to be recovering a couple of years ago. I guess that was a mirage.

This is a really tough game to pick, but my hunch is that as good as Chantilly has been this season, Centreville is better. I'm picking them outright, and thanks for giving me three points.

This is not the game of the week, but this might be the most interesting game of the week. Fairfax is 4-0, and they now leave the cupcake portion of their schedule behind (not exactly, though, they still have Woodson next week, and a make up against Falls Church). West Po is defintely a step up from the likes of Wakefield, Langley, McLean, and Edison, though not the same level as Robo or Lake Braddock (both of whom will crush Fairfax). This will be a good measuring stick for them, and how their program has recovered. Common opponents are Wakefield and McLean. WestPo has better margins of victory than Fairfax does against these two, but Fairfax has been trending in the right direction recently, more so than West Po. I'm going to hedge my bets here. I'm going to take West Potomac to win, but not cover.

Falls Church is more rested, and Edison has to be smarting from the beatdown that Fairfax put on them. I think Falls Church wins this outright

Agree. You should have made the spread higher, this one is like taking candy from a baby. Mt. Vernon wins and covers.

This should be a good game, though not as good as others. Robo is too good. I'll take them to win and to cover.

I was skeptical about Lake Braddock, until they beat South Lakes fairly handily. I'll take LB to win and cover.

Robo and South County WILL play each other this season; it will just be for the Region championship. South County wins. Somehow, I don't think they will be as nice to Woodson as Centreville was, but I'm still not picking against a >35 point spread.

South Lakes seems to have come back down to earth. I'll take Westfield to win and to cover.

Wrong. There are two good teams and two average team in the Patriot (WS and LB). Not "a lot of strong teams".

Wrong again. MAD is very good, but CH and CV have their weaknesses and have not played a real strong schedule yet. OAK has played absolutely no one-they will probably finish 5th in the Concorde and go 5-5. WF has played a decent OOD schedule but has struggled (BTW-if they play Unity Reed again, they would not lose that game). Concorde gets the slight edge, at least so far. over the Patriot if you consider top to bottom.

Not sure why anyone would be on Fairfax Underground posting every time a team scores a touchdown, but you, my friend, have been trolled. Hysterical, in fact. Centreville played a solid half against Stone Bridge - played them MUCH tougher than Broad Run - I was at both games. The Chantilly QB is underrated - he is a Kyle Downer type QB (Oakton 2012 regional champs I believe). I think Madison will need to play their best game get those two wins. I would be surprised if either game was a blowout. Westfield lost that Unity Reed game because the new QB turned the ball over like 5 times. Now they have a new QB again so back to square one. Weirdly enough, Westfield is basically two TDs from being 5-0. On the other hand they barely got past Marshall and Yorktown. I wouldn't expect much from them these final 5 games.

Cville will lose. Chantilly has the better coaches. Cville had 9/10 penalties in the first half against Woodson…..and they stink!! You can’t do that against good teams. The OL is missing their best player. JMO

They also came in with a better game plan and executed better. IMO they have better coaches than Chantilly also.

To my knowledge it was a 21-14 ball game at one point but Chantilly’s defense just couldn’t stop them ended up getting back to back scoring drives think if these two teams were to meet again in the playoffs it’ll be much closer. Both really good teams Chantilly historically just hasn’t been great against Robinson

Notice that of the eight teams currently in playoff position, the top seven are from Patriot. Mt. Vernon is the only National team in playoff position, and Woodson is the only Patriot team below the line. There's a big disparity between Patriot and National, so this is to be expected, but will this continue to be the case once Patriot District teams start to play each other? One thing to note: Patriot doesn't play a full round robin schedule, so they won't lose to each other enough to pull large numbers of National teams into the playoffs.

Here's a rundown of the remaining schedule for Patriot teams, and a list of teams not on the schedule

I think Robinson scores almost every time they get the ball and West Springfield is not willing to risk the health of their QB to win this game. West Springfield's only chance would be to run their QB every play.

Well I know, not think, what will happen tonight. See, I was talking to the head of referees, who happens to be my best friend from back in the day at Marshall. See, we went backpacking last night after practice in the mountains and he told me the secret to stopping Robinson's offense because you know, he has officiated so many of their games. He says, "The only way to stop the Wing T Bone Saw Stack offense is to read QB to far back to slot and then spill the damn thing." I told him in my many years as a defensive coordinator, that I was the only one in the whole country who had refined that technique and I was the only one smart enough to implement it. Therefore, in my humble opinion, West Springfield had no shot tonight. UNLESS, I happen to call the AD, who I know from my days at Hayfield when we would fix cars together, and tell him my secret sauce. See, I do not know if I will have time though because I have to meet up with Bruce Patrick, Dick Adams and all my buddies to have a beer and eat some nuts around a camp fire.

I miss the old playoff format of the top 16 teams and playing it that way. It was cool to see the bigger brackets and have more good matchups to balance out when one region was stacked and the other wasn't. 2 regions is dumb and a lot of teams don't even play across C or D. Would really like to see more concorde teams and liberty teams playing more Patriot teams. Untraditional matchups are pretty cool.

Robinson is winning 7-3 after 1 quarter of football. Robinson is 0-2 passing the ball, 1st throw QB had 2 wide open receivers in the end zone over threw both and the 2nd was an INT. QB looks like he has never thrown a football before.

Interesting Centreville/Chantilly game. Centreville up 7-0 with 10 seconds left in the half and their rb runs 60 yards for a TD on the last play of the 1st half and 80 yards for a TD on the 1st play of the second half. Chantilly then has an over 13 minute drive to make it 21-7. Then Cville used all but the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter to drive to Chantilly’s 5 where they were stopped on 4th down. Well played game with very few penalties.

Saw Chantilly for the first time this season. Not impressed at all on offense. Too one dimensional. The RB is quick and slippery but other than him, they are average at best. I think their longest play was maybe 15 yards. Give Centreville credit, they played well. Defense is not as strong as last year. Thought they would win tonight….

That and the fact that they have very little talent.
The starting QB is very small, 5'6 maybe and can not throw the ball over 20 yards. You are not going to win many games with little or no talent.
With a medaling DSA and lack of players, the better coaches will stay away.
Not a great time to be a Cav!

1. Briar Woods @ Stone Bridge (-42)
- Stone Bridge won 57-20, Mickey let the JV kids play late. It was 57-0 at one point. No cover on this one.

2. Centreville @ Chantilly (-3)
- Centreville won this one 21-7, I totally blew it with this one. Wildcats move to 5-1, while Chantilly falls to 4-2. Game could mean a lot down the stretch with power points and playoff seeding. Anyone go to this game and have any insight? Please do share.

3. Fairfax @ West Potomac (6)
- Another one I totally screwed up on. Fairfax won 34-14 to move to 5-0. Are they for real?

4. Falls Church @ Edison (-3)
- Edison won and covered, 20-10.

5. Hayfield (-8) @ Stuart
- Stuart won 40-27. They have one mutual opponent, South County. SoCo beat Hayfield 22-0, while beating Stuart 62-0. Stuart must've came out really ready to go for their HC game.

6. Herndon @ Yorktown (-22)
- Yorktown won 34-21, but did not cover. Herndon is a bad football team, I'm surprised the score is this close. Yorktown seems pretty mediocre at 4-3.

7. Langley @ Washington-Lee (-3)
- W&L won and covered, 38-22. Langley has a real chance at going 0-10.

8. McLean @ Wakefield (-7)
- Wakefield won and covered, 29-16.

9.Mount Vernon (-7) @ Annandale
- "MV may win by 21+" indeed was the case. The Majors roll, 47-13.

10. Oakton @ Madison (-22)
- Madison blanked Oakton 46-0. Statement win.

11. Robinson (-17) @ West Springfield
- Robinson won 44-29, missing the spread by 2 points. I watched this game and noticed a few things. 1. Robinson can't throw, the 3 attempts I saw were badly overthrown (would've been TDs) and the 3rd was a Pick Six. I think they had a couple different guys "throwing" the ball. As for WS, it seems QB1 (#7) might be out for the year because he hasn't played since W&L. #3 (other QB) is just as good. WS also has lengthy receivers who have good hands and aren't afraid of getting hit. Robinson's defense was exposed on long passing plays. It was still a good game.

12. T.C. Williams @ Lake Braddock (-6)
- Lake Braddock won and covered 21-6. Score was 0-0 nearing the end of the 3rd...

13. Thomas Jefferson (-7) @ Lee
- Lee won 21-14, breaking their 13 game losing streak. (Last win came on 11/1/19 against Falls Church.) Looks like TJ better just stick to the home schools or whoever the hell they play because it looks like they wouldn't even be competitive in the National District.

14. Woodson @ South County (-38)
- South County won and covered, 62-0.

15. Westfield (-10) @ South Lakes
- SL won 20-19. Wow, what an upset. If anyone was at this game and provide some insight as well, please do. Sounds like a great game.

Had a pretty bad week last week regarding my picks and spreads. Hoping to do better this week. Very good slate of football this weekend, so I’m going to do 2 games of the week and 2 co-games of the week. Probably going to do it for this week only as a lot of the games are meaningful for playoff positioning, etc. Lets get into it…

1. Annandale @ Hayfield (-6)
- Yes, Hayfield lost last week to a bad Stuart team, but they did take Marshall and West Springfield down to the wire. I’m surprised Annandale has won a game this year. Look for the Hawks to get back on track at home.

2. Chantilly (-3) @ South Lakes
- One of my games of the week. Chantilly coming off a home loss, South Lakes upsetting WF which means ’Tilly is 0-1 in the Concorde and SL is 1-0. This is going to be a big game, I think Chantilly bounces back and gets it done.

3. Edison (-15) @ Lee
- I hope the Lancers enjoyed their win last Friday because I don’t see them winning another game this year. (MAYBE they stand a chance against Falls Church.)

4. Fairfax (-24) @ Woodson
- Fairfax is 5-0, but are they legit? This is their best start since 1999. This game and Falls Church are their only 2 cupcake games left though and they haven’t beaten anyone worthy. We will see if they are legit when they play Lake Braddock, Robinson, and West Springfield. Luckily they don’t play South County, so if they can steal a win in one of those 3 games they could potentially finish 8-2 and see the playoffs for the first time in 27 years.

5. Lake Braddock @ Robinson (-10)
- One of my co-games of the week. Always love this classic rivalry game. If any LB coaches see this, you can beat Robinson’s defense with deep passing. Send the house every play on defense and have your DB’s ready on the edge because that’s where they like to go when they run. (Which they will do… A LOT.)

6. Madison (-17) @ Centreville
- My 2nd game of the week. Big for Concorde/playoff seeding as well. Was Centreville’s win over Chantilly a fluke or are they legit? We will see. My guess is Madison rolls them.

7. South County (-17) @ West Springfield
- My 2nd co-game of the week. Really looking forward to this one. South County better not come into this one sleep walking.

8. Stone Bridge (-28) @ Woodgrove
- SB has won 16 straight dating back to their 2019 State Championship loss to Maury. They will make it 17 straight on Friday although Woodgrove is 5-1 with their only loss coming to Broad Run 0-44. SB destroyed Broad Run by 57. Wanted to make the spread higher but I’ll remain conservative.

9. Stuart (-14) @ Falls Church
- The classic Bell Game. Look for Stuart to win their 2nd in a row.

10. Wakefield (-14) @ Langley
- Not sure Langley will win a game this year…

11. Washington-Lee (-3) @ Herndon
- Game will be played Saturday at 1 PM, as per Herndon HC tradition. This game is honestly a toss-up, but my gut says W&L.

12. West Potomac @ T.C. Williams (-14)
- T.C. is quietly having a very good season. They still have to go through SoCo and West Springfield, however. T.C. will handle West Po.

13. Westfield (-24) @ Oakton
This Westfield team lacks the talent they usually have but I think Simmons and his boys will come out pissed off after last week and will take it out on Oakton.

14. Yorktown (-9) @ Marshall
Not sure what to make of Yorktown as they currently sit at 4-3. They have a soft district schedule remaining and they basically need to win out if they want a shot at the playoffs. It starts against Marshall, this is a must win for the Patriots in my book.

I believe you mean get their first playoff win in 27 years, because they last made the playoffs in 2013.

I did not see this game but heard something from another source: Centreville scored two of their three TD's on the final play of the first half (60 yards) and the first play of the second half (80 yards). Both by the same RB. This does not mean the rest of the game was fairly even (or not), but it certainly determined the outcome.

Saw this game. Westfield's O-line could not block anything and the South Lakes defenders were all over the RB and QB. Westfield also had a third and goal from the one early in the game where they center snapped the ball over the QBs head and South Lakes recovered the fumble. Westfield's secondary, which has struggled, gave up two long passes that set up South Lake's 2nd and 3rd scores. Westfield special teams missed an extra point on a bad snap, and failed on a two point conversion run (see above, re: South Lakes getting defensive penetration). Very winnable game for Westfield but South Lakes did what they needed to and won.

Chantilly’s offense consisted of running for approximately 3 or 4 yards on every play getting a 1st down on 3rd or 4th down while taking their time on every play. They had a really long drive in the first half which ended FG bouncing off the goal post after the center hiked the ball over the QB’s head on an earlier play. Here are the 2nd half drives. Cville 80 yard run. 21-0. Chantilly 13+ minute TD drive 21-7. Cville 8.5 minute drive that failed to convert on 4th down inside the 10. I left at that point with 2 minutes left but the score didn’t change so I assume nothing of note happened. Chantilly’s ND commit seemed to be a non factor but Cville didn’t try to pass much. Don’t know if they can effectively or not. Will find out vs. Madison. Have not seen Cville play previously other than the first half against an over matched Herndon team.

Madison-Cville comes down to who plays better on Defense. Madison's defense is always top notch, but Cville is not giving up many points either. If one side can force some turnovers, that'll be the winner.

Correctly picked Stone Bridge to win. No pick against the spread.

Correctly picked the Centreville to win outright, making it also correct against the spread.
>

I was nervous about this one. West Potomac isn't in the same cupcake category as Wakefield, Langley, McLean, and Edison. At the same time, Fairfax has had a good season. So I picked West Po to win. Got that part wrong. I salvaged part of this pick by saying West Po would not cover. Congratulations, Fairfax. Given where your program has been recently, I'd say this qualifies as a statement win. Still not sure if they can compete against Robo or Lake Braddock.
>

I picked Falls Church to win. Missed both the winner and against the spread.

I blew this one, too, picking Hayfield to both win and to cover. National looks like they'll send one team to the playoffs, and I thought it would be Hayfield. This opens it up for Mt. Vernon.

Correctly picked Yorktown to win. I thought they would cover, and got that part wrong.

Correctly picked Washington-Lee to win and to cover.

Correctly picked Wakefield to win and cover.

Correctly picked Mt. Vernon to win and cover. I said the spread should have been higher, and Mt. Vernon would have covered a 21 point spread. National is weak this year, but it seems to be breaking into two groups -- Hayfield, Mt. Vernon, and Stuart at the top, everyone else at the bottom.
>
> 10. Oakton @ Madison (-22)

Correctly picked Madison to win and cover. Someday, maybe this will become a rivalry again.

Correctly picked Robo to win, but I thought they would cover a 17 point spread.

I took TJ to win and cover. I was oversold in TJ, and I'm not making a pick in any more of their games.

Correctly picked South County to win. No pick against the spread. Woodson won't win another game this season.

Missed both the winner and the spread here. Just when I thought Westfield had righted the ship, this happened.

I still think there is a top tier and a bottom tier in National. Hayfield is in the top. Annandale is in the bottom. I'll take Hayfield to win and cover.

Chantilly lost to Centreville. Either Centreville or Madison is going to win the Concorde, but I think Chantilly is solidly in third place. Chantilly wins and covers.

Edison wins. But I don't think they'll cover a 15 point spread.

Is Fairfax legit? No one really knew, given their cupcake competition so far, but they seem to have gotten better as the season has progressed. They struggled to get their wins against Wakefield and Langley early on, but took care of McLean and Edison fairly handily. They played their first non-cupcake Friday and won convincingly. Now, for this week, it's back to the cupcakes. Fairfax wins and covers.

I would have thought 14 points was too high of a spread for this game, but Stuart had an impressive win for them last week. Stuart wins and covers.
