3. In Region B, Freedom will be under the microscope for their eligibility / transfer issues. But they should return as front runners. Not sure they have any challengers until they have to play Smith!

4. So, what team can challenge South County this Fall? Robinson, Lake Braddock, Westfield and Centreville always come to mind. I'm just not sure which team can slow down the rapid-fire scheme of the Stallions!

Doesn't the 757 have a place to post about their location? Are all the computer literate people that could set it up in jail for dog fighting? We realize those "Smith" boys are hitting the weights. Why worry about books? If you don't get one of the 10 or so (maybe) scholarship offers OS gets each year, there is always the military down the street. Or, you can go into training. As in dogs, not humans.

We call it transferring. I think the active stuff has little credibility @ Smith. They likely lost a couple of state titles over those kids that transferred out of their program. If there is a school that is shady in that area, it's Maury HS. The pro athletes had some nephews go through there & they likely got involved in bringing that program from nothing to a state title in a flash. But as those kids graduate, they'll return to below average.

I do expect kids & their families to move into the zone so they can play @Smith. Here's the thing, their feeder programs produce top talent. Especially the 757Colts, some of those kids feed IMG & St Francis A.. I am hoping they choose to come back to Chesapeake. If that would happen, Smith would be back in the top National Rankings!

Somebody's hurt ass is showing. Westfield may not win another state title this decade. South County is 1 and done. What other team can compete with what is coming their way. Damn, 757colts win the 14U National Championship, too. LaCrosse is all that's left in NorthernVA. You better go with that. They don't play it down there. Not enough $$$ to support it.

VT seems to know how to recruit football players who go on to have a criminal record. Or they simply have a systemic racist problem & need to be closed down. I'm not sure but the NAACP could get involved and that's when you know theyre done.

Time for your weekly HS Football update. High School Football America just released their Top 125 teams. Oscar Smith just missed making it inside their Top 100 list @ #103. No other team made it. Thank you. Have a good day.

If I remember = I am guessing 100% because there is a 757 in both subjects. How about looking up ANY social media posts from him to suggest a connection to them? I know it's not as fun but at least you'll have a small bit of credibilty instead of ZERO you have by trolling on someone elses mistakes!

Remember, pointing out someone elses flaws doesn't mean YOUR not the dumbass in the room! That's why people look at you funny. You say stupid shit!

Hope you guys win and put VA back on the map!! Question for you OS...will next seasons team be as good as this past one? I remember Centreville played Gonzaga after they won states and lost by a few touchdowns. They were not as good the following season, close, but still made it too the championship.

Georgia Sentinel is reporting that legendary HS football coach Rush Propst is headed to the VA Tidewater area to coach at a private school?

This guy wins big, where ever he goes, but seems to wear out his welcome as well.

Anyone in the 757 hearing anything about this?

Maurice Freeman, J. Hilliard, D. Howard, T. Norfleet, M Kimball & T. Richardson are the biggest losses as Seniors. But there are definitely capable backups at most all those positions. Non-Starter WR already has ACC offers. But IF they can grab back Desmond Ricks from IMG & Camron Warren from St Francis A., I like their chances vs anyone in the country. The OL / DL will not fall off much in the Fall. To me, ILB will be the key to keeping the success from the Spring. It's time for another breakout player at that position & it could be from a freshman that comes up. But, we'll have to see about that.

Let's see who transfers into their program after today's announcement. Those that remember Andrew Brown, should know that his father told him about Smith playing on ESPN. It was that game vs Lake Taylor that convinced his dad to relocate so Andrew could play on National TV. That game got him nationally recognized after having great camps!! BTW A. Brown plays for the Indy Colts now.

People transfer a lot in NorthernVA, too. But, for Baseball, basketball, etc. Who wants to move their family to Lorton for football and get beat like a drum the way South County did last month?

I’d rather make $125k in Lorton as opposed to $80k in Chesaspook. Not everything comes down to hs sports. We will really need a new thread come fall with a complete expulsion of 757 people & the LB mom (who I really think took an alter-ego as the 757 clown). Whatever beats South County! But ya, this thread is all but done

I couldn't have said it any better. But because NorthernVA HS Football IS DONE, I'll hang around. It's tough being just spectators to what's going on in 804 & 757 but I'm here to keep you updated.

As for pay vs lifestyle, I am so sorry you have your priorities so backward!! You assume your government jobs have you set for life but you all are coming down here to relax??? Hmmmm, you can have the commuting stress & your social strife. I'll take my nearly same salary with no college debt with my trades type job. I get to enjoy the beach, off shore fishing, total access to dinners on my waterfront deck, etc.. You couldn't pay me enough $$$ to leave my lifestyle. Go ahead & work yourself to death for your mortgage. Mine is getting paid off in 2 months and I'll retire with a couple of rental home incomes on top of my pension!!!

Oh, AND I get to enjoy great HS Football in the 757.

Don't get me wrong though. There IS some small amount of envy for your area. Our kids don't have access to swimming pools at our high schools. I'm sure South County was shocked by the difference in the facilities in Chesapeake vs Lorton, too. We have no HS Hockey or LaCrosse. Y'all made fun of our grass field, too. But, I am glad I am not you!!!

Weekly reminder & entertainment.

Clear video of Miska's targeting, headhunting penalty. He should have been ejected!! It looks like South County brought their own ref's... multiple late hits with thrusting forearms. I'd have to say that it looks like the Stallions lost their focus & were more interested in hurting people than playing football. I am really impressed with how the players & coaches responded and kept their composure! We see this with about 25% the schools they play and NorthernVA should have found better representatives to send to Chesapeake!

Oscar Smith’s Ethan Vasko is the Abe Goldblatt All-Tidewater Player of the Year

Ethan Vasko felt a wide range of emotions, from disappointment to anger, after Oscar Smith’s one-point loss to South County in the 2019 Class 6 state championship game.

He used all of these feelings as motivation as he went back to work to get ready for the following season. And when the season was pushed from fall to spring because of COVID-19, Vasko didn’t stop working.

“It was non-stop,” he said recently. “I would lift, then go to speed drills and then I would throw.”

Eighteen months after that 13-12 loss to South County, Vasko helped the Tigers get revenge as they dominated South County 62-21 to win the Tigers’ third state title last month.

“It was an awesome game because everyone played well,” said Vasko, who finished with 246 passing yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 173 yards and three more scores. “There is no other way to go out than that.”

Vasko is the Abe Goldblatt All-Tidewater Player of the Year, becomingthe Tigers’ sixth honoree, and the program’s fourth quarterback to win the award.

“I’m always confident in what I can do and confident in what I did,” said Vasko, who accounted for 2,230 total yards and 34 touchdowns — and no interceptions. “I definitely thought I had a chance to win it, and I’m excited that I was able to get it.”
Abe Goldblatt All-Tidewater Players of the Year, 1982-2021 »

Vasko, a junior, becomes just the second Tigers quarterback to win a state a state title and the coveted award in the same season. The other was Jaylian “J.J.” Williamson in 2011. Phillip Sims, who led Oscar Smith to a state title in 2008, didn’t win the award until 2009.

“There have been super talented, record-breaking quarterbacks at Oscar Smith,” Tigers coach Chris Scott said. “Obviously with Phillip Sims and Shon Mitchell, just to name a few. ... Now Ethan gets to put his name amongst that list as a state champion and All-Tidewater Player of the Year.”

Prior to this season, Vasko had just three college scholarship offers. Now the 6-foot-4, 210-pound dual-threat quarterback has picked up seven more, including those from Virginia Tech, Buffalo, Connecticut and William & Mary.

And last month, he participated in the Elite 11 in Nashville. The three-day event brings in the top rising senior quarterbacks to receive one-on-one tutoring, with on-field drills, off-field development and classroom instruction in a highly competitive setting. Elite 11 event alumni include 24 of the 32 current NFL starting quarterbacks, and 13 of the past 14 quarterbacks who have hoisted the Heisman Trophy.

“It was an awesome competition with some of the best quarterbacks in the nation out there,” said Vasko, rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports. “So, I felt I competed well.”

With all of the attention, Vasko hasn’t let it distract him as he prepares for his senior season.

He and Scott can’t wait to see what next season holds for Vasko and the Tigers.

“When you have your starting quarterback returning, you know you always have a chance to be in it,” Scott said about trying to repeat next season. “Hopefully he’ll have a chance to put together a full collective season. It’s going to be pretty exciting to watch.”

Added Vasko, “Hopefully we can do it again next year,” he said. “I can’t wait to get back at it.”

It amazes me how much talent flies into a public school. From top to bottom it seems there’s not much of a drop off from starter to back up for Oscar Smith. I don’t recall any teams up north being like that. Sure you had Westfield teams that were solid and have top notch coaches. Centreville had a few good teams too. South County isn’t there yet. They have succeeded when the area teams are down. Madison should have won that game IMO. I’m only talking about Division 6 teams. Stonebridge is usually loaded for Div 5. I know the prep teams can recruit that helps them. Your thoughts......

NOVA talent is divided up amongst a bunch of High Schools. It's more difficult to consolidate talent in FCPS due to stricter enforcement of residency and the high cost of housing. Also, there simply is not as much scholarship level talent in FCPS. Nova has good HS players but few who have the measurebles to be scholarship players. When the most talented beach team makes the state championship and is coached well the NOVA teams will always be the underdogs.

Unfortunately, I think it has a lot to do with so-called middle school handlers who run training camps & side hustle sports specialty training gyms. Similar to AAU & Travel Teams in other sports. Not sure what their angle is but those guys have a lot of influence to where a kid ends up playing. Parents DO relocate to provide the best opportunity for their kids. Obviously it easy to make change if your renting vs owning a home.

Down in 757, it can be fluid but it's usually with whomever is most popular at the tume. Landstown, Ocean Lakes, Bayside all had really good teams & they seamed to prosper via VaBeach Mustang's kids all decided to play at that school. For Chesapeake, it's the 757Colts kids.

Believe it or not, Rich Morgan decided not to accept whatever those guys were selling. That was the main reason Ocean Lakes & then Bishop Sullivan got so good so quickly. Both feeder programs sent players there. Plus, Morgan was a tough ass. If a kid blew up during a game & became a discipline problem, kicked them off the team during the game. Some kids couldn't handle it & there became a trend of top players transferring out. That 2015 team had 3 All Tidewater Players from the previous year playing on other teams. All 3 ended up playing power 5 Div I Football! If those kids had stayed & J. Sweat hadn't gotten hurt, they could've matched this Spring 21 team!!!

Then after Morgan left it was a small miracle any of those other teams played 15 games!! Other coaches were poaching talent out in an attempt to replace Smith's dominance. Now, Coach Scott has kinda consolidated the talent pool & he has the attention of the feeder programs. The only issue is now the very best kids leave for IMG & St. Francis & Life Christian A... IF and that's a big IF, he somehow can get them to return to Chesapeake, Smith will be a perennial National Top 10 team like Hampton was for many years! Regardless, I think kids will now be looking to play for Smith & Lake Taylor moving forward more than any other team. Those National games w

Those National games will just make it more attractive for the kids & their parents to play @ Smith. But don't forget that Coach Scott has great coaches. That entire staff from BSHS are now with him!!

Am I wrong or is nutfan and Oscar Smith the same person? Can't believe some moron from the 757 has taken over the Fairfax County football forum and is now talking to himself on here.

Anyway, I noticed that Coach Mike Burnett (Broad Run state champs 2008, 2009 / Tuscarora state runnerup 2014, 2017, 2019) is back in the area now at Briar Woods after a 1 year California hiatus. That's no doubt good for Briar Woods.

My wife also doesn't like to attend football matches with me. However, this is a consequence of the fact that our support group consists of almost all guys. She is not interested in beer and rude jokes) However, I watch most of the football matches live at home or in the sports bar. The schedule of matches is always at hand here - https://www.ua-football.com/en/betting/bookmakers/16-pinnacle Sometimes I place bets using this service, but not so often (because of my wife).

Wow. That's a nice job for Wortham. If true.

Nice tee shirts OSHS is selling. WE RUN VA….Most Dominate team since 2004. That’s elementary school BS!! You won 3 state titles. That’s what people remember. Not the district games, not the region games, not the state title appearances. Why don’t you put on there you lost 5 state titles. That would be honest. I think Highland Springs, Phoebus and Westfield might have a say. The all have won more state titles than you since 2004. Maybe in a few more years of D1 transfers you can claim the outright crown with more state titles. Just saying and getting you fired up for the fall!! Congrats to the kid going to Clemson.
