This is completely unacceptable. As a Fairfax County resident and taxpayer, I find this highly unacceptable. In these economic times when County employees are paid in gold and executive office buildings manicured like the White House? You will need to bring big tractors to mow the median now! It has grown about 4 feet! Imagine you charge homeowners to cut their grass if we do not cut it, but you cannot even cut your own? What gives?

I realize it's such a minor thing to complain about but it is more serious than budget shortfalls and unsightly tall grass. The uncut grass becomes a harbor for rodents which run across the roadways. I don't shed a tear for the ones that get hit but the increase of swerving vehicles and traffic fatalities becomes a greater possibility.

Also, at some locations, it make a left turn across a lane of traffic a hazard as you can't see as clearly if vehicles are approaching.

It's not just in Annandale. The whole DC area has tall grass in the medians.

If it is a state road, blame VDOT. It doesn't make sense to complain about county employee pay when state employees are responsible for lining up the contractors for state road maintenance.

If it bothers you this much, contact the county supervisor in your district and start there. Better yet, take pictures and go to their office and show them.

The county isn't going to do jack. If VDOT is already asking the media to put out the word that citizens need to mow the medians then the battle is already lost.

Besides, the complaint should to to a NoVA VDOT office, not the county.

They barely have the budget to cover payroll. Non essential projects are fucked.

I hear ya pgens, but VDOT won't listen to us common citizens. If the county supervisors are made aware of it daily, especially by different commonfolk, they will do something just to stop the complaints.

Then again, they may tell us to go piss up a rope also.

OK, IF VDOT OR THE STATE WERE WILLING TO PAY ME WHAT THEY PAY SOME COUNTY EMPLOYEES OR STATE EMPLOYEES I WOULD DO IT. Didn't the county government create a bicycle trails administrator this last budget approval session to the tune of $90,000 a year but don't have the money to build any new trails

bet there's tons of the sh8t the county government is doing like the above and yet they gut the library and park budgets to beat a dead horse again

I was in annandale recently and drove on medford dr, believe me that median is nasty and needs mowing.
