that event always did kinda suck, even back in the beginning. It was always a poor attempt to cop off of the hfstival vibe.

Last time I was there was about 5 years ago and it was pretty lame in the sense that there wasn't much, if any, focus on a real "chili cookoff". It seemed more to revolve around drinking beer and seeing bands that weren't really worth the price of admission. It was really crowded too, but me and my friends still had alot of fun just hanging out pounding beers. That's always great time, but I just thought it was really lame that they pawned it off as some big event focused on chili, which it was not.

I agree with meeper. Chili cook-offs are sacred events, and one should not just be able to call an event a 'chili cook off" if chili is 1% of the actual focus of the day.

I feel bad for the people in the chili competition. IIRC it is held in the AM, before the bands start getting heavy. Who the fuck wants to go to eat chili at 10AM?

LOL, yeah, it's just so absurd. The only chili I even saw that day was one little booth sponsored by Hard Times Cafe, and the line for food was about 300 people long.
