Open Letter to BOS Chairman Jeff McKay and The BOS Democrats
Posted by: Reasonable Regulations Advocate ()

Tomorrow we the people will see if you enact reasonable gun regulations as the high court has ruled must be with regard to the 2nd amendment or will you enact unreasonably law that breaks the constitution

Gun bans should only extend to Fairfax County buildings with armed security

All other county buildings and especially public park trails must be able to be accessed by law abiding citizens with concealed handgun permits and retired police officers Remember if you ban the citizens with concealed carry permits you ban the officers too under the LEOSA federal act and you can not exempt them as they are no longer agents of the government as sworn employed officers when they retire , there are thousands of such officers in Fairfax County , their presence upon park trails and lawful legally armed citizens aids public safety on the thousand plus miles of county trails many in remote areas.

There is no such thing as first and second class citizenship under the US constitution for citizens or retired police officers , remember so many Fairfax County citizens are also veterans of the US Armed forces and retirees who have concealed handgun permits . Concealed handgun permit holders are as diversified a group as Fairfax County's residents are

We will see what way you chose to go, the way of the gun hating unconstitutional bigot or the reasonable Democrat leader who upholds the rights of the people

Have fun reading our take on this thread and this one too with this warning : wear your flame suit

I am sorry but you are setting the bar too low. The standard should not be simply whether armed security is present at the time, especially since that may not be known in advance and can change during the course of a day.

Here are some more realistic tests:

1. The rule must be predictable. Absent special events where the event related rule can be clearly advertised in advance, buidlings and fields should be gun OK, gun prohibited or concealed weapon only consistently.

2. Can the weapon remain adequately secured when the person is on government property engaging in normal activities that people engage in on that property. This is the gym rule. When you are at the gym you are working out in the weight room, swimming in the pool or playing on the courts. These are not activities where a typical person is going to keep the weapon concealed on their person. So instead the gun is going to be in a gym bag or locker. Sorry but not good enough. No guns in the gym.

3. Gun restrictions should not work on a gottcha principal. You are driving or walking along for nonrecreational purposes with your properly concealed pistol for which you have a permit. You should not be subject to prosecution simply because part of your route happened to be over a park trail or road. Likewise using a drive through at a government building that prohibits firearms should not result in prosecution.

4. The government should be permitted to consider whether an errant bullet is likely to injure innocent people in deciding whether to ban weapons from a facility. Not everyone is as good a shot as you are. Not everyone is going to be as calm about selecting their targets as you are. Places like ballfields are likely to be crowded at times, and when bullets start flying around there's a good chance they may hit someone other than the intended target.

You know it will be a limited seating cuck Kangaroo Court meeting of police state lovers so afraid they never go on a trail

Well see what The BOS does they can either uphold the constitution with a full on ban or reasonably regulate as the high court demands

430pm today Sept 15th Fairfax Government center gun ban meeting BOS

I hope people bring up the retired police ban with a ban on ccw citizens

Not going to happen. Fairfax county is a blue county. The BOS is going to continue to be more and more liberal.

From the chairman's email yesterday:

Guns on County-owned Property
What? The Board voted 9-1 to ban weapons from Fairfax County owned buildings, parks, recreation centers, and community centers.

Why now? For 24 years, the Board has asked the General Assembly for the authority to make this decision. In their 2020 session, the General Assembly passed a bill that allowed for this.

Anything else? I have long supported this action. Gun violence is a complex issue with no simple solution, but we must approve common-sense measures to protect our residents. This action is widely supported by residents as well.

Good riddance. People who want to carry guns are worthless cowards that need to get the fuck out.
