Wegman's evacuated?

Anyone know anything about Wegman's being evacuated today around 8 PM? I went by and the cops had Government Center Parkway traffic stopped to let everyone out.

Why would retired people work there for free? What are the advantages?

Oh by the way, I got a job too. I am retired and I work at Washington Sports Club at the front desk. I love it. I earn minumum wage but I do get a free gym membership there. I am the oldest employee there by like 30 years but everyone is great.

Hugs to all fairfax Underground people,

Trickie - You weren't a teacher before were you? My husband said he met a former teacher of his working there.

To Heather,

Yes I was a teacher in Fairfax County for 32 years. What WSC was it? So far, I have met two of my former students there. They were so sweet and it was great to see them all grown up!

Trickie -

It was the WSC in Fairfax. My husband said he was surprised to run into his 7th grade teacher (he attended Hayfield at that time) at the gym. He was more surprised that he was remembered. It made him feel good.

Well Heather, I "think" I know who your husband is. If so, you are one lucky lady. That kid was one of my faves over the years and has grown up to be a very handsome, delightful young man in his thirties. I enjoyed talking to him and when he smiled, I recognized the middle schooler I once taught. Hopefully, I want all my former kids to turn out like him. Does his first name begin with an M?

I can thoroughly understand an elderly person working somewhere for free...retirement can be VERY boring. (But I don't believe Wegman's would allow it, for myriad reasons)

But a paying job can put some people in a higher tax bracket. I have a post retirement job with FCPS that I absolutely love. But every year my accountant tells me I should quit....that it actually costs me to work that job.

But it's worth it...I'd go insane at home all day.

I was told that people work for free at Wegman's by a retired person working there. So yes it's true.
