Saw new sign at former site of Paul VI High School

It is now called Boulevard VI. Retail Condos from the $300s

I thought the old Fairfax High School/Original George Mason University building was a historic site? They are just going to tear it down? That sucks. Another piece of Fairfax County history just gone....

Pictures on the website suggests the historic bldg will NOT be demolished.

This excerpt is from an article written 6/9/2020 and appeared in the Washington Business Journal.

"Arlington-based IDI announced Tuesday it will immediately advance its previously approved plans for the 18.5-acre Fairfax Boulevard campus once it takes possession of the property in mid-July. IDI said it will preserve and transform the circa-1934 portion of the school building into retail and restaurants, while developing 115 townhomes, seven single-family homes and 144 condominium homes across the property.

The development will be called Boulevard VI."

If this article is correct then the building will not be torn down.

You failed to mention the new Chick-fil-a that will be built in Boulevard VI

The 1934 portion of the building will not be torn down. The school was enlarged numerous times between the time it was built and the time FCPS stopped using it. How much of those additions will be preserved is not clear.

And you can walk over to Chesapeake Bay Seafood House for all you can eat shrimp....oh, wait...guess you can't do that anymore. But you can walk down the street and get a new pair of Cowboy boots...fuck...can't do that either.
