I can tell you that they think it is somehow connected to the Navy Elemenatary embezzling case from a while back. Anyone remember that? Well, apparently, the victim was somehow connected.

Has anyone close to Becky confirmed this? This morning the police said they believed the woman to be in her 20's not indicating early or late 20s. The Fairfax Co police public information line indicated that it was an apparent suicide. They removed the swing that she "apparently" hung herself on. She was also found without shoes or any motor vehicle near by (according to police officers on the scene this morning). Any other positive info out there, without the jokes, I mean come on this may be someone you know in our community.

I live about a 5 minute walk from the play ground, took a walk over there this evening. It wasn't hard to see where exactly this poor women ended her life. The weird thing was, no one else came by the 30 minutes I was there. No flowers, no sign of anything that happened except the missing swing. Sad, sad, sad.

Becky was the beloved wife of highschool basketball coach Jim Smith. She leaves her four loving children behind and was recognized in the community as a caring mother and outgoing friend.

That was the Smith family I was thinking. I thought it may have been a daughter looking at the age descriptions. My prayers are with all of them.
I'd never met Becky and can't imagine why she or anyone would do this, but I do feel for the pain she must have been going through. Jim always seemed like a class act and a great role model to the boys at Chantilly. Hopefully he stays on for years to come, it should be a special season, as he will arguably have his most talented team of his career this winter. Jim and the kids, stay strong!

This happened right across the street from my son's bus stop and I just want to be prepared if they mention this in school. Thanks so much.

Yes, she has four children, all at different schools. Youngest one still at LC, oldest one scheduled to finish high school this year.

Becky (Brown) Smith is my cousin...I live far away in another state, so when I received the sad news, I googled for more details, thinking I would get a "police report," not wanting to disturb Jim (her husband) and 4 children during this tragic and difficult time. Other than the details on where the viewing will be held (probably Adams-Greene Funeral Home in Herndon), there's not a whole lot of other information that belongs on a public forum unless you're hoping to crack the case wide open and prove it was a murder.

We who live in the neighborhood and larger Chantilly community, who have been touched by the lives of this family (classmates, neighbors, student athletes, parents, co-workers, etc), all are greatly saddened to have lost a part of our community. I really wish people would stop giving out personal information about Becky on this page. Obviously it is read by many, many trolls and unkind people. For the sake of her family, her personal information (where her husband works, where her kids go to school) should really be off-limits and any other continuing email from her child's school.
