DUBLIN, Ireland. (AP) ---- Taoiseach Micheal Martin announced today the beginning of an unprecedented legal battle which could fundamentally change the face of the EU as we know it. Citing nearly 2,000 years of pillaging, slavery and genocide, the Republic of Ireland has named five nations as plaintiffs in this groundbreaking lawsuit for reparations; Great Britain, Norway, Sweden, Italy and the Vatican.

The Irish are seeking a whopping 150 TRILLION Euros in damages. For comparison, African-Americans are seeking 17 trillion USD (15 T EUR) for a mere 250 years of oppression.

Many Irish-Americans and Irish-Australians may be wondering where there chunk of change is. According to Irish legal analyst Charlie O'Derry, it's coming but there are stipulations. Namely, the amount of reparations paid to each Irish expatriate will diminish for each generation of non-irish citizens in a particular tree. Thats where things get complicated, as multiple waves of Irish immigrants mixed over time. A DNA sample will also be collected and analyzed before any payments are made to Irish descendants and any trace of ancestry from any of the plaintiff nations will be an immediate DQ, so someone who is 31/32 Irish and 1/32 Dego will not receive a farthing.

The AP reached out to the plaintiff countries for comment. British PM Boris Johnson said something barely intelligible about "spuds" and spat out a tooth. The pope was busy with his altar servers and the Italian PM Giussepe Conte was greasing his hair. Conversely the simpering rep from Sweden, whose name is gobbledygook, said they are delighted to pay any and all reparations on condition that Ireland promise to "stay green dude". The Norweigans added that "we will also exhume and re-inter all Viking corpses in graves of the deepest shame and burn their boats twice" in a most empathetic message of solidarity for the long-suffering Irish.

The genetic origins of the "dark irish", long believed to be the result of arab immigration through the Iberian peninsula, are now thought to be from the Basque region - a population which predates virtually all others in western europe.

The modern Irish race goes back about 4,000 years and has readily identifiable DNA markers of blue eyes and tolerance for lactose. So anyone claiming Irish ancestry with blue eyes who can digest dairy products as an adult should get paid.

Somebody needs to explain to this guy that the Celts weren't the first people in Ireland. If the Celtic Irish population wants the countries of later arriving populations to pay them reparations, then the Celtic Irish population also needs to pay reparations to those descended from earlier populations.
