The NFL and the Washington Redskins
Posted by: Sonny ()
Date: July 03, 2020 08:30PM

If the NFL can't keep politics out of the sport, I'm done with watching professional football. My lone voice won't change a thing but others who feel the same way can make this a real movement and send a strong message. If the NFL and owners (Governors) see a devastating drop in their bottom line, the NFL might get out of politics. I have no problem with ANYONE making a peaceful political statement except when it interferes with my enjoying the sport. KEEP FUCKING POLITICS OUT OF IT!

I've been a die hard football fan for decades but no more. I will not watch or attend any games, participate in Fantasy Football (that kills me), or buy any team apparel. I hope you'll make the same commitment and get others to do the same. Spread the word!

Fuck ESPN and Nike as well.

Keep the politics out of what?

Getting rid of a racist name is not politics.
It's dropping a racist name.

Nike and ESPN (Disney) are business entities. If Nike and ESPN decide not to support things that work against their business interests, that is their right. It is your right to take you business elsewhere and encourage others to do the same.

However, it is a business issue - not a political one.

Again, getting rid of a racist name is not politics. It is trying to end racist practices.

We should name the team the Washington Drewjacks. This will help celebrate Andrew Jackson and his great accomplishments driving the savages west of the Mississippi to keep the white man safe.

I think this is great, at this rate in 100 years Nike will stop sourcing clothes made by little brown kids for a dollar a day. Don’t worry I think they have great severance packages when injured on the job.

Plus I’ve long maintained the Redskins were in violation of the 1830 Indian Removal Act. Finally, DC will be cleansed of the red man.

Now we just need Covid to end so the NFL and NCAA can get back to advertising for chips and beer in between showing minorities causing permanent brain damage to each other in slow motion.

You think we should focus next on making DC public schools less of a shit hole or are We satisfied with changing mascots? Yeah, the mascots are what has been holding people back right?

The problem isn’t politics invading the NFL. It’s racism invading politics. Trump’s game plan. That’s why all this stuff is happening. And these are just the baby steps. Imagine what another four years of his nonsense will bring. Changes a lot more massive than some dumb team name.

I always thought the name honored American Indians. It’s a team you want to win. Now if the name had been used for a trash collection company and branded on all their trash trucks, I might agree with those who are offended.

Now-a-days, the political left turns everything into an offense. People who can’t think for themselves follow along hook, line & sinker.

Sonny2, are you of Native American heritage?

Thinking that minorities should feel honored by the name you are calling them is the definition of white privilege.

I couldn't agree more. I'm so glad we're getting rid of something that reminds me of the indians. It was a great year so far. We are getting all the nigger pictures off my food too!!

Maybe YOU view it as racist. Seems to me the Washington Post took a poll 5 or 6 years ago and were shocked (shocked I say) to find out that 90% of Native Americans did not find the name "Redskins" offensive. As a matter of fact, there are at least 2 High Schools on Reservations (I only had 30 seconds to spend time on research) that have "Redskins" as their nickname/mascot. Changing the name IS ENTIRELY POLITICAL and it's not going to end with the Redskins. (Same thing with the statues and school, names. Started with Confederate Generals then moved to anyone owning a slave 200 years ago, then Columbus, and on and on and on.....)

Pulling my support from professional football includes not properly honoring our National Anthem and flag during pregame ceremonies. Kneeling and playing the "Black National Anthem" (which I'd never heard of before this week but is a lovely song and would be proper to play during halftime) seems to be a dumbass move for business entities involved in sports as it's going to piss off at least 40% of the people.

When I watch sports or sports news, I want to watch sports or sports news without any damn political commentary. I don't want to hear what Conservatives have to say, I don't want to hear what Leftists want to say, I want to hear about sports. That goes for their advertisers too. Tell me about your product but if your message has a political slant, fuck your company and you're not getting a dime of my money.

Sports should be about sports. PERIOD

Even the most liberal whites secretly hate dealing with niggers.
Coaches will kneel with them so they don’t lose a $250k + salary.
Deep down they wish the niggers didn’t exist.
That’s why this george Floyd shot will never die!

The post is all about keeping politics out of sports. It's one of the few places people used to be able to go to and enjoy so as to escape the chaos of today's society. I don't want to hear the complaining from the Left about what an evil country this is and I don't want to hear the Right complaining about the rioting, looting, and destruction caused during the "mostly peaceful" protests from the last month. Tell me about the fucking players and the game! The players have every right to express their political views on social media but if their statement takes place during a game, fuck em and neither they nor the league will get a dime of my money

You refer to the post reflecting my cultural views? Damn straight if a cultural view means supporting a tradition that started early last century.

As for changing the name of the football team? I could give a rat's ass what they're called. I'm a white guy and I hope they choose the most derogatory name used for whites. Rename the team "Rednecks", "Hillbillies", or "Crackers"and I'll root like hell for them. But they're still not going to get a dime of my money as long as they try and make political statements DURING MY TIME.

I really understand you and your opinion. In the same way, I believe that politics and sports are different things and they should not interfere with each other. I love sports and football in general since childhood. I remember how I tried not to miss a single match on TV. Now I am more interested not only in watching matches but also in betting. These very emotions that bets bring you are simply incredible. I don’t usually bet on the blind, I focus on NFL Picks & Betting News predictions. The chances of winning are much higher if reasoned correctly. I do not plan to give up watching the NFL, but I am ready for any action so that they stop meddling politics into football.

Niggers destroy whole cities, ruin schools, neighborhoods and have degraded professional sports. When the Redskins and the rest of the NFL began replacing a mix of whites and African American athletes with common niggers, it quickly became the National Felon League.
