Stratford House Place Traffic Light

What's the deal with this traffic light. I thought traffic lights were usually placed at 4 way intersections that carried a required amount of traffic. Somehow this light seems to be placed there to service the residents of Stratford House. Can't they just make the right turn without the light?

That's the thing. There is no left turn because of a traffic island. So I don't quite understand why the need for a stoplight. Unless the folks living at Stratford House need to cross 3 lanes to get to a turn signal into Reston Towne Center about 50 yards from the entrance of Stratford House. seems like special treatment for the folks living at Stratford House which I believe has some hoity toity's living in the high rise. I think Joe Gibbs lived there during his 2nd tenure with the Redskins.

WOW...next time you drive through there...you may notice a crosswalk...the light is only triggered when pedestrians hit the button...it is not for vehicles to turn right on reston pkwy out of strartford house pl...Thanks for the post though since the world does revolve around you and no one else
