Yeah he's from Chantilly. Today I saw a thing on the news where they gave out his exact address. I think thats just so wrong. Yeah the guy is an ass for what he did but by giving out his address the news is just punishing his parents. Just keep in mind that they too lost a child that day. I'm not defending the shooter at all. I'm defending his parents.

How many times have we heard this? How can a background check reveal the person is under a doctors care for mental problems? The doctor won't release that kind of info and of course the patients is too crazy to reveal it.
Not taking a position for or against guns, but this information is falling through the cracks.

Well, the FDA requires a black box warning on SSRI antidepressants because they were responsible for *double* the suicidal thoughts and aggressive violent outbursts than people taking placebo. Kind of makes you wonder why they're still on the market. Many of the mass shootings have involved people taking anti-depressants. Eric Harris for example was taking Luvox. Kip Kinkel took Prozac. It's time to pull these drugs off the market.

...... for kids. Millions of americans take these drugs without psychotic breakouts. I say we merely ban them for people under 21.

Unless the person was held in a mental institution under a court order I don't know of any way that the seller of a gun would know if the person had a mental problem or not except for their contact in the few minutes it takes to sell a gun.

I think if a person admits themself and then is discharged with a handful of mind altering drugs no one would ever know, absent the person themself revealing it. I don't think that will happen too many times.

Since there is patient confidentialty the patients record will never show up on any government lists as not being able to own a gun. Hell, you can't even stand too close to someone in line at CVS that is picking up a prescription due to federal regulations regarding confidential issues.

Bottom line is I just don't think the information about mental health and actually buying the gun will ever merge therefore we will continue to have incidents like this one.

I think we should teach gun safety and usage in elementary school.
