The "H" is for "Les Habitants" or "Habs." It is a nickname for the French Canadians who live in Quebec. It's kind of like the term "Cajun" in Louisiana.

"Le Habitants de Canada" is how one says "Canadians" in French. The "Habs" is a nickname for the team. French Canadians are pejoratively referred to a "canucks." Because most French Canadians live in Quebec, they are frequently referred to as "Quebequois."
