Trump has said the US will be doing the same, at least to some extent and Manuchin is proposing a tax credit to pay all relocation costs for US companies. The UK, Germany, France and Spain have all said they will be looking to retrench their manufacturing OUT of chinkland as has Australia, when this is all over. So to answer the original OP question: ordinary people are getting it from a variety of sources (but transmission between close contact via water droplets / exhale seems to be the dominant vector in terms of numbers I think).

I think a whole lot of people are going to be infected with COVID-19 but the disposition of those infections are a whole different matter.

The more interesting question is: why aren't more people dying? There is ample evidence that age and underlying medical conditions (blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, et Al.) factor into the mortality rate. Also factors can include gender (men seem to be more vulnerable), blood type (A type blood seems to be more vulnerable), and race (blacks are getting hit harder though this may be simply that blacks, on average, have worse health).

Looking at the mechanism associated with mortality it seems that COVID-19 is more of a metabolic attacker (hitting the hemoglobin in the blood) than an actual respiratory attacker (though respiratory infections can certainly make a hemoglobin attack more vicious and lethal). Take note of the fact that most severe patients put on ventilators end up dying (thus the lung failure is actually incidental to what is really going on).

What we're not being told is the genetic disposition present in fatal cases. This (genetics) is where a whole lot of revelation about this virus is going to be known. The genetics of this virus are also going to more or less serve as a "smoking gun" with respect to proof that COVID-19 was engineered in a lab (once the genetics are understood).

Some people have better genes than others. This is why ~20% of the state of New York has been exposed yet only about 0.1% of people in NY have dies from it. 

On one hand, the people that created this virus know this and will take every care to prevent this information from reaching anyone (i.e. if you know too much you will be eliminated). On the other, there is enough of this virus out there that there is an increasing chance that someone is going to put the pieces together. That is, unless the viral mutations made the evidence go away.

There is more to all of this but this is enough for now.
