Did anyone see the show? It was at Foxfire Grill at 236 and Braddock. They did a great job on the decor. It's fun to check it out after the renovation. Hopefully they'll do more shows in this area.

Tell them to quit wasting our time and their money and jus get it done

After they get that finished they need to bring back Jack and his Box filled with those tasty tacos filed with grease and mystery meat that are so good to cure the munchies of weed smokes

We did a before and after visit. The redesign is absolutely fantastic. The menu hadn't changed. Not terrible but not notable either. After watching the episode it seems like they need a head chef to pull off those new menu options Robert showed them.

Not sure how anyone could view Foxfire as a dump, it is a fine restaurant. Robert Irvine really nailed it though when asking what they want to be. Good episode, it does not seem like they followed all of his advice but maybe having watched it they will revisit some things.

I laughed when they blamed the strip mall they're in, claiming it's dead. Irvine looked out the window and pointed out the heavy traffic. They are in a terrific location, even without the anchor store at the mall the lot is always full of cars. They are at one of the busiest intersections in the area and their lot is easy to get in and out of (unlike Landmark Plaza and Bradlick).

The big issue I see is pricing, they are trying to compete with Clydes and Silverado but they can't match their consistently top quality food and service. Meanwhile Olive Garden and Glory Days have decent food at cheaper prices. There aren't a ton of restaurant choices in the area and while it isn't McLean there is plenty of money so there should be room for them to thrive. It is nice having a spot where you see the owner there every night as opposed to all the chains.

Hard to judge them completely on a TV episode but when Irvine was showing them how to cook the new menu items I wondered if they'd be able to pull them off since they said that they couldn't afford a top chef. Irvine wants them to serve more complex menu items at higher prices but if the specials are what their regular customers want how about embracing that and keep it simple?

The Pinecrest Shopping Center is getting a Lidl in the summer for the anchor store -- it seems like a small store for a Lidl.

But the anchor store seems like the "Dream Café" in Seinfeld, the place that can't seem to make a go of it and is constantly closing and becoming something else.

I hope the Foxfire remodel includes some sound deadening. I don't go there often because screaming at the people at my table isn't relaxing.

Glad to see Lidl coming in, that spot has been empty for too long. I don't see how you can say that it is constantly changing, it was Whole Foods, then Staples for about ten years, then empty. I don't count the temporary Halloween pop-ups.

OK, so 25 years ago there was a lot of turnover, since then Whole Foods and Staples. The Foxfire spot was a short lived Korean massage joint for a little while and I think a Friendly's before that if I remember right.

Close the crappy dump down and bring in a Korean massage parlor Seth would be proud of.
The restaurant is shitty and needs to be shut down.
All their food is just microwaved.
Heavy traffic in that shopping center yet they barely break even every month. Koreans know it’s a dump so they don’t eat there
Look at their yelp reviews.
Yikes!

I went there soon after the renovation and ordered the Steak Frites. This is a fancy term for steak and fries where they cut the steak for you so that it looks bigger than it really is. I'd had that there before so it was good enough to order again but this time the fries were cold. When someone is paying over $20 for a small steak and some fries they need to get that right. On the show they said that the owners are there every night but if that's the case they need better quality control.

The dumb part of the show was when the guy had them expediting orders. Is that really a job for an owner? Is that an actual skill? Yell out the order and then make sure that it's right? I guess it is a skill because no one said that cold fries won't cut it the night I was there.

The food Network guy should have told them to fire those cooks. He mentioned that they seemed to resent the owners. If that's the case I'd have them gone.

The other reason I don't eat there more is they need decent beers. They are big on wine but if I'm buying a steak on Friday night I want a good micro on draft. I can pop a Stella at home for a sixth of the price.

Who are the owners?! Do they ever eat out at other restaurants?
Probably not judging by their yelp reviews.
Reopen cici’s pizza there.
At least cici will bring more people to that center.

That's actually a fair review. My review goes like this:

Went there with my wife and another couple that lives down the street from Foxfire for brunch one Sunday 10 years ago. My very first impression was that it was run by homosexuals. From the food presentation, to the miniscule portions, to the color of the plates.....totally ghey!

Left brunch hungry and $50 poorer (who leaves a brunch hungry? Probably homos. Can't have a bunch of turds stuffed up their vaginas for a messy later-on!) and vowing never to return.

There are very few exceptions to the 'small portions suck' rule for restaurants. Many, multiple small courses are OK, as are small portions at notable fine restaurants (e.g. 1789 in Georgetown).

But the food at FoxFire was average to good at best. So for that quality level, they need to serve larger portions to have normal men come back again. I ordered "Steak and eggs" and it turned out to be a couple of slices of filet, with about 2 eggs. All presented wonderfully. Who cares. That plus two pancakes and a mamosa cost $25.

I WAS SO PISSED! I complained to the waiter that I was still hungry and he offered to bring out free toast.

Fuck FagFire! I'm going to a GAR!

If you go to a gay themed restaurant, don't be surprised at small portions. Think of that Panera place. The whole place is designed for wimmen and their tiny appetites. Ever order a sandwich there? Even worse than Subway with their meats and cheeses.

La Tosca in Clarendon has small plates, but the service is almost as good as GAR. Constant plates coming out! Love it!
The night I went had obnoxious Spanish dancing where the women had clamshells on their hands and heavy dancing heels they stomped.

These “mom and pop” places like fagFIRE can not manage food costs/capital costs so they compensate by serving homo staged foods.
Bet 99% of their food comes thru compass or Sysco. Suuureee the steak is “grass fed.”
Learn once and get fooled.

Not eating there again.

Ps. Lots of sexy ass 25yr olds at the La Tosca happy hour/7pm dinner time!

Aside from the deplorable language and and incorrect statements, the post above has one good point, that it is tough for a stand alone restaurant to survive, there are very few of them. Good reason to support Foxfire Grill.

So your rationale to support them isn't based on their food, their portions, or their service. Instead you suggest supporting them because there are fewer of them around. Got it.

Lol.
What ever happened to:
“Food is great, let’s go there.”
“Service is great, let’s go there.”
No, it’s now junked down to:
“It’s a mom and pop, who cares about the food/service.”
“Money STAYS LOCAL!”
This reasoning is why so many shithole restaurants in del ray alexandria are dogshit too.

Invest in a $100-120 propane grill from Lowe’s. Something simple.
Buy two tanks of propane(one is a spare).
Goto to Costco and Buy a $20steak.
Bring it home and grill it.
I will guarantee it will be better than a steak at del frescos or BLT.
I will guarantee you will pay the same or LESS!
That’s what “steakhouses” have become.
Also, you get shittier service nowadays and that will ruin any steak they grill at these places.

No shit. I can grill my own steak? Never heard such a thing. Now all restaurants are going to go out of business because we'll all stay at home. Just in time before the Chinese flu hits.

Don't visit locally owned spots and pretty soon everything is Applebee's, Olive Garden, or heaven forbid Friday's.

The market decides, dumbass. Not progtards and their fakenews economics.

Stupid progs are so fucking stoopid that they think they can sway the economics of supply and demand from their pathetic, fake positions of 'locally sourced' or 'environmentally sustainable', or 'fair farmed' or some other bullshit fakenews 'create demand' scheme.

The very second I see one of these businesses virtue-signaling the tenets of their stoopid religion I immediately look elsewhere.

The tenets of their stoopid prog religion add to the cost of their product, whether they believe it or not.

Fuck progs and their shitty virtue-signaling products that no one but them wants to buy.

Del Ray was where I used to buy drugs.
The restaurant scene there caters to morons that no nothing about food.
Foxfire, as shitty as the reviews say, should locate there.
Then, they might have a chance from patrons that don’t care about taste or service, but if you blatantly have certain keywords like “sustainably sustainable” or “shop local” or worse yet “Baltimore bucks” equivalent, I’ll pass.

Goto evening star and you’ll go home and hang yourself.
