LORTON, Va. - Fairfax County police are paying tribute to a bloodhound named Schnoz after he located a woman who had been missing in the woods of a state park for two days.
Rangers at Mason Neck State Park found an abandoned vehicle on Monday. They contacted police for assistance, and Schnoz and his handler, Master Police Officer Pete Masood, went to work.
They found the 53-year-old Lorton woman on Wednesday night. She was disoriented and suffering from hypothermia and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It was just the latest success for Schnoz. Three weeks ago, he tracked down a carjacking suspect in Springfield.
