I can't recommend any, but would suggest staying away from 2 guys and a truck. I had them move 1 piece of furniture for me once, and explained it was on the fourth floor of a building. They gave me a quote of $80, which I said would be fine. Once they arrived, they saw no elevator, and said they would have to charge me $250!
Why do they think I bothered mentioning it was on the fourth floor!?

Stay away from Starlight relocation. They gave me a quote but when they showed up, they asked additional $$ for packing material and packing tapes. They claimed that they are required to wrap up everything like sofas/end tables/tv/beds and the person moving has to pay for the packing material. We were on a tight budget and asked that no packing be used. We even said we will accept the risk of damage that may result. They did not budge from their position and we had pay for it all. Unfortunately we didn't have an option of kicking them off and calling someone else due to move date.

We used JK Movers a few years ago to move out of a 3BR condo to a single family about 10 miles away. They showed up on time, with an extra guy on the truck. Finished the move in about 4 hours total. Cost was less than $500. Will definitely use them again if I do any more local NoVA moves

I completely disagree with the person above. I had a terrible experience
with JK. Some woman sales person came to look over my house and my house-
hold goods to be moved. If she wasn't drunk, she was close to it. At 9:30
AM? She gave me a ridiculous quote a day or two later. I agreed to it.
They didn't show up. There was a "paperwork mishap" and she never turned
in the details for have the movers come.
I called C&G. They came the same day and moved everything. That part was
a good deal and I appreciated them doing so on short notice. Turned out
the drunk woman used to work for them previously. Said they weren't surprised. C&G is long gone, so of no help to whoever posted this thread
originally.

Why would you pay a moving company?!? Get a Uhaul, and pick up 2 - 3 day laborers. The rate for day laborers is $10 - $12 per hour for moving work. I moved from a town house in Springfield to a SFH in Falls Church for under $250.

No price is too high when it comes to protecting my priceless artwork and glass. For most people it would be better to trash what they live in, and just buy new when they get to the next stop.
I was unimpressed with JK. Over estimate and had to tell them to get off their asses while they were getting paid. (This was not a necessary rest break. I am twice their fucking age and had moved three times as much shit, in the same time frame).

JK is very good.
Interstate is very good
Moyer & Sons are very good.
JK actually won independent mover of the year by the American Moving & Storage Association.
I believe JK and Interstate both have won the Angie's List Super Service award.
You get what you pay for with movers.
Rent a truck and grab some guys from 7-11 if you don't care about your stuff or what kinda people are around your family. Good luck.
