Dave Lareby is certainly one of the kindest men I've ever met. A modern day Albert Schweitzer.
He devotes his life to The Lamb Center. His financial compensation for his good work is dismal.
Contrary to the impression that this thread creates, most of the folks who use the Lamb Centers facilities are happy with the help they recieve. Most of them go on to regain their normal lives. They just needed a hand up for a short while.

But then there are the delusional , greedy , arrogant , ungrateful low lives who blame everyone in the world for their problems. There is NEVER enough that anyone could do that would satisfy these ingrates. Unfortunatly, as a result of their ignorance ,and The Lamb Centers generous policy to make the internet available , they spread their vile , illiterate , rantings in an attempt to discredit the very agency that is trying to help them.

These rambling posts, forgive them as the TLC doesn't take them personally, not one volunteer or community member has. This site works with no, that's right, no tax money. If not for the kindness and compassion of the TLC, the number of homeless and crime rate would be up.

Think about it. How many of us have been just one paycheck away? Or less even. All of us have depended on someone to be our rock at one point or another. For some people, the Lamb Ctr is ALL they have. Let's get behind our fellow AMERICANS in such a manner. This is a faith based, not government program. That's American as Apple pie.

It is interesting that this person/s makes accusations, but there is not one bit of evidence. Nor is there anything shown so far, that might suggest anything untoward. While people argue about silly stuff like UFOs or the Lochness Monster, even there there is more believable about those subjects.

Think about a favorite retailer. 99 out of 100 times you have a fantastic experience. Do you remember those, or does the one bad time stick out? I don't think the TLC should be held accountable on behalf of one bad experience, nor any slights whether right or wrong. The ultimate question is, can you do better than what they have done or what "reasonable" fixes can be utilized?

During your visit Beh, did Dave or staff work with affordable housing and other programs? I've been thinking about visiting it, you have further got me curious about what they do.

Thank you for this info. That sounds like a basic approach, reasonable in what it does. Perhaps not everyone can be thrilled but this is better than not having any type of services. There is nothing controversial about that list.

The Lamb Center should be credited. Let's be honest here. Regardless of wealth and or political party, government services are very limited. It's up to you to decide if that, is a good or bad policy. Those long waits plus the lack of mental health services, along with the cost of living here, show a bit of compassion for the TLC and what it does.

I bet that it has a lot of failures with its guests going back to booze, drugs, jail etc. But I am willing to bet that there have been success stories. Maybe someone became sober, is working, thus making them a more productive member of society. And without tax funds the TLC is doing this. Through the kindness of volunteers and churches. People are doing their civic duty helping their fellow neighbors.

Love your neighbor. That includes the one in the mansion, the rambler, the condo, the tent. Thankfully this winter has been mild, but these folks are still cold I am sure of this. Even camping in fifty degree weather with top of the line gear can be chilly. Now imagine yourself without name brand tents, sleeping bags, clothing, socks, shoes etc. Don't believe it? Try it for a couple days. That will change your perspective.

Pastor Munny Yates runs a weekly worship service where food and weekly bus passes are provided for 200-300 poor and homeless at Truro Church in Fairfax.

That is a shame. Especially when the kindness of this person, comes into question. It almost reminds me of the phrase, "No good deed goes unpunished." It seems appropriate here.


As for Truro Church, it has been around for a long time. Although I am confused if it is Anglican or Episcopalian, I highly doubt there are folks drinking, watching porn, and all kinds of other b.s. that this person brought up. In fact, I have a feeling it is the complete opposite. I can't say for sure since I don't attend, but most churches right now aren't doing too well, yet they still do whatever they can to help other people, in their most toughest of times.

Pillars of the community they are. And for this man, to continue to help others, even in the midst of his pain is impeccable. God bless him, and may he and others continue to do honest work to help those who are truly, often forgotten.

In fact, I am disgusted by, while it is a good cause, but let's face it, those "save the animal" folks mean well, but people first. And that is who we should focus on, rather than whales or dogs and cats. Not saying that we should be cruel to animals, but humans are our #1 concern, and they are the ones that depend on the Lamb Center and other services to perhaps get a foothold. One is better than none.

Charity is often not what it appears to be. Often there is an ULTERIOR MOTIVE behind it. The primary reason that organizations such as the Lamb Center and Yate's church is to propagate their pentacostal religion, clear and simple. Yates is a rich tax lawyer. He used to have services in his house so he could write off his property taxes, until it became such a nuisance in his neighborhood he was forced to move to Truro (sound familiar?). So if you don't buy into the religious angle, don't expect to get on the housing list. These people are not just religious, they are FANATICS. This is the problem with the Lamb Center. You have all these incorrigable career criminals there that perfectly understand this, and manipulate the staff by presenting themselves as repentant sinners so that they can get free housing. What's sad about this is the staff is so blinded by their religious zealotry they refuse to accept reality. Some of these guests are violent felons and their presence is a serious threat to people's physical security.

Alright, so the purpose of this forum then, is the Lamb Center's Mgmt. In your opinion, what can be done, other than removing them from their positions, to change things? I would be happy to go down there and talk to them, in fact investigate what the place looks like, and even take pictures if so allowed.

OKAY. I think I got it. Pentacostal. Alright, yes certain denominations of the Pentacostal Church do speak in tongues. Whether they are right or wrong in this, or if this practice is alright on a faith level, is not up to me.
