Posted by: Reston Town Center Traffic Plan ()
Date: December 11, 2019 01:22PM

First phase of widen 193 and extending Reston Parkway through Great Falls gets approval. Next up Great Falls Town Center with 20 story buildings and new Madria Bridge to MD.

https://www.restonnow.com/2019/12/10/board-of-supervisors-approves-new-transportation-priorities-plan/

Here is a list of a few major improvements in the plan:

Widen Route 7 from four to six lanes from Jarrett Valley Drive (Dulles Toll Road) to Reston Avenue. This would include intersection, bicycle and pedestrian and bus stop changes

Addition of a walkway on the north side of Fox Mill Road from Fairfax County Parkway to Reston Parkway

Expansion of Reston bike-share

Expansion of Town Center Parkway to include a divided roadway under the Dulles Toll Road from Sunrise Valley Drive to Sunset Hills Road

Also developer planning on putting Condo development on the Maderia School property to include low-income housing and new shopping mall. No wonder so many rich residents in Great Falls are selling their houses and moving out.

The Maderia Condo complex is going to be HUGE, with a 40 story building. Overlooks the falls. Going to be a cash cow for the developers.

That already has a major sewer and water line right there for the Maderia school. Great Falls has several major sewer and water lines. Many builders just doen't want to pay for the service and extension.

You're partially correct. The Firehouse and the surrounding shopping centers have sewer and water as do Madeira and GFES but when I rebuilt GFES several years ago we were not allowed to extent the sewer line past the fire house. To do this we would have had to increase the existing lines not only to handle the school but to handle future construction. The residents nixt this but did acquiesce and allow us to bring our fire line and water service line to the school but no further. This allowed the school to get off it's well, there are two on the property and doing so kept the school open. Had they put their foot down and said no to the water service FCPS would have eventually closed the school as they did in Clifton.

GFES currently has two septic fields with grinder pumps to aid in quicker break down of waste. So the kids have recess on septic fields and are essentially playing in shit. The little leaguers that use the ball fields (?) you guessed it playing in shit.

The builders could care less about tapping sewer and water lines, they do it all the time and roll the cost and tapping fees into the cost of the job. Residential meters 1-1.5" depending on the size of the house is about 100K sanitary tap about 50K depending on your fixture credits.

The residents of Great Falls don't want zero lot line housing. THAT'S the real reason there are no upgrades to utilities. Enjoy your Rural status Great Falls and when your wells are contaminated with fecal matter enjoy drinking and bathing in your own shit. Just like Clifton.

The builders are going to do it no matter what. They are able to "grease" the county board and planning commission. It's a done deal won't be stopped. All of Fairfax county including Great Falls is going to be high-res. The overbuilding of Reston unleashed the crawling sprawling beast on Great Falls.

Anyone ever think why we need all this low income housing? It's because of the MILLIONS of illegals that are never accounted for in the census. The largest legal generation is dying off, the Boomers. Why is space not freeing up? Because of the illegals that are invading. Trust me, US & Mexico will be forced to merge within the next 20yrs.
