I don't think the state could have made it any easier for Oscar Smith to win this game
Use your own 757 refs??
Use your own clock keeper?
I'm glad we're not coming there
The good part is South county has smart coaches and Oscar Smith has dumbass coaches
Oscar Smith might have some athletes hooting and hollering all game South county has brains and know how to run the plays offensively and defensively
Soco 23-21

I call fake news looking for excuses about that rep claim!! VHSL picks the refs for playoff games. Your gonna have to prove your bullshit, fake news. Provide your source document or shut up.

Spalding 5 for 57 yards vs Smith... Zero for on passes +15 yards that's because Smith is bringing the heat. Expect the same Saturday!

Hey, Madison Rep, we are ALL anxiously waiting for your PROOF that the hosts for Saturday's games get to handpick ref, time keeper's, etc!!??? Could it be that your just a SoCo fan that's already looking for excuses for your team?

If Smith wins, this site will be full of them. It sounds like the refs will be the blame. Let's see how it plays out. But I think it's gonna be 33- 6 for the Tigers! Too bad for SoCo!

I think Madison Rep is a SoCo kid that's upset they won't be getting THEIR bought & paid for refs!! They certainly took away Madison's game. They must have been in Hampton for the 2019 game vs Smith! 2 clear TD's the refs just errased. 1 with a flag & the goal-line TD that 100 drunks in a bar could have called!!!

Just got off the phone with the athletic director at Oscar Smith ,yes Oscar Smith is supplying the referees and the timekeeper
I guess you won't have to worry about any 50/50 calls this year, we got robbed by the referees in Vienna and we pay taxes
757 pays their taxes and the referees and apparently stalks little boys copy and pasting their highlight video s , grown men who apparently graduated turned into Sandusky s
The state could have not made any easier for Oscar Smith to get their first state title .Oscar Smith parents are worse than the kids cussing out the players while they're walking on to the field calling them vulgar names
I will be in the comfort of my basement watching this shit show the state conveniently gave it to Oscar Smith

Yep, madison rep is a middle school kid with a learning disability. Not one coherent thought in the entire post. AD wouldn't respond to your call, he has ZERO authority to pick refs and you have zero idea what your trying to say!!???

Spaulding will be a decoy this week. OS will make sure he is quiet and overlook other players which will make the game closer than expected in the first half. Still say OS wins convincingly. Just too talent there.

They put Smallish, but fast & hard-hitting Trey Duke on him last year & ALWAYS had a safety bracketing him over the top. I expect Kole Jones to get that assignment Saturday. He'll be the fastest DB Spalding has ever faced & ball-hawking Covil might be waiting for him over the top. After that, it's a matter of stopping Miska. Smith's front line will get to him on a regular basis. I say, let the others do their thing. I like the Tiger's chances. The game MVP could be Caleb Jones. He'd be my pick for Defensive player of the year.

VHSL felt bad about gifting the Richmond team and the beach team home field advantage and for them to pick their own referees.Mickey Thompson raised hell and tried to bring the 703 refs
Vhsl paid for 20 hotel rooms per team soco and stonebridge.I assume they felt a little guilty and tried to make up for it

That pretty much sums it up. My kid's school had 14 seniors sit out this year. Most were first string who either weren't going to play in college or already had their college lined up. This season is a bust. No bragging rights no matter who wins.

Watched the first half of this game, the OS poster was spot on. The Tigers just had way too many athletes for South County to compete against. Spalding was pretty much a non-factor, he finally met some talent, welcome to what you'll see when you play in college. Congrats to Oscar Smith, glad to see you guys as well as Stone Bridge win one. I think they were pissed because the SB celebration occurred over the HS player that was beaten on the TD throw. He continued to lay on the ground even after the play was over. The entire bench from SB was celebrating over/on him, you could see a couple SB players and coaches try and shield him. But you're right, a couple of the HS players turned it into an excuse to try and start as brawl.

Epic failure by the SoCo leadership. They should have confronted this issue early in the season. This fan/ parent is echoing what had been brewing amongst the players all week & then some about traveling to the 757!!!

This player likely just turned off most of his recruiters' interest in him!!! Say goodbye to the D1 offers!! The best Coaches know to become a better player, their kids must learn how to become better men, first!!

Class 1: Galax @ Riverheads (-21)
- Riverheads won 65-29. They were up 44-15 at halftime. Might be time to move up a class. Staunton is a big area. 5th straight state championship for Riverheads. Quite a feat.

Class 2: Appomattox County(-3) @ Stuarts Draft
- Appomattox County won 48-41. 2nd state championship in a row for them.

Class 3: Lafayette @ Lord Botetourt (-15)
- Lafayette won 27-13, I didn't see that one coming.

Class 4: Salem @ Lake Taylor (-3)
- Salem won 28-20. This was also a good, close game. Could've went either way.

Class 5: Stone Bridge v. Highland Springs (-17)
- Stone Bridge won 13-10 in OT. Wow, what a thriller. The catch by Jacob Thomas to win the game was nothing short of spectacular. He was also a key piece in the state championship basketball team. Back and forth for the most of the entire game, both defenses showed up and played well. When SB missed the FG to win as time exprired in regulation, I thought that was going to be the momentum shift Highland Springs needed to win, but SB held tough and pulled out a win when it mattered most. Congratulations Mickey Thompson & Co.

Class 6: South County @ Oscar Smith (-13)
- Oscar Smith won 62-21. Not much to say on this one that hasn't already been said. This Oscar Smith team was the best team in Virginia this year and they proved it. 24 game win streak for the Stallions ends, but they will be back. Congrats to Chris Scott and his guys.

Congrats to ALL of the state champs. As I said last week, I believe this entire season has an asterisk on it. That is my personal opinion and I am not taking anything away from anyones individual/team accomplishments. I am really just glad we were able to play football this year. Also, the good news is that it's already May, and most teams are already getting ready for the fall season I'm sure. We will be there before you know it! I will be back in 3 months to continue the spreads for next season. Until then, everyone stay safe and enjoy your summer.

Wouldn't have happened if the lil nigga wasn't on the ground yelling oh lawdy jeezus forever. Just get up and go back to your bench. You know the blacks always wanna fight after they lose, and half the time after they win.

South County football can’t keep up with Oscar Smith in Class 6 championship game rematch

Michael Errigo
May 1, 2021 at 6:32 p.m. EDT

CHESAPEAKE, VA — It can be hard for football players to put themselves in their opponents’ shoes. They scout, study and plan for a team, but they can never truly understand their foes until the game begins.

The South County Stallions had been hungry to play Saturday’s Virginia Class 6 championship game for a long time. This was their ultimate goal for well over a year. Through an extended of fseason, through nine games of buildup, through a three-hour bus ride south, they eagerly awaited a chance to defend the state title they won in December 2019.

It was hard to imagine their opponent would not only match that desire but blow it away.

Oscar Smith, a longtime power here in the southern half of the state, was on the losing end of that Stallions victory in 2019. The Tigers also spent the past 17 months dying to play this game. And from the opening whistle Saturday, they showed just how much by steamrolling the Stallions, 62-21.

“They wanted it more,” Stallions senior safety Samuel Dankah said. “And that’s what football comes down to. That’s what it’s all about, play after play. Who wants it? And they did.”

The loss snaps a 24-game winning streak the Stallions had been building since the beginning of last season. The 62 points tied for the most the 16-year-old program has allowed.

While last season’s championship game, a gritty 14-13 win for South County, was a tight defensive battle, Saturday’s contest quickly became a sprawling shootout. Playing in front of a limited home crowd boosted by additional fans sitting just outside the stadium’s fence line, the Tigers came out firing. They didn’t blink when South County scored on a 71-yard pass on its first possession. Instead, they put up 28 points in the first eight minutes of the first quarter.

The Stallions’ defense seemed unable to get off the field, and quarterback Charlie Miska’s early turnover troubles persisted. The Tigers’ defense had five interceptions, and their offense scored nine touchdowns. Oscar Smith senior quarterback Ethan Vasko, who struggled against the Stallions in 2019, rushed for three touchdowns and passed for two.

“There wasn’t a whole lot different from [last year] in terms of our approach and how we prepared and what we expected to see,” said Tynan Rolander, who took over as South County’s coach this season after serving as an assistant. ”And we got every bit of what we expected to see from them. … But the preparation going into this game was as good as we could have gotten given the circumstances.”

Any and all momentum built by the Stallions (9-1), mostly on two touchdown catches by senior Dillon Dunn, was quickly quashed by the Tigers (9-0). They were always ready to answer, always ready to gash the defense with another big play.

After Oscar Smith pushed its lead back up to three touchdowns in the second quarter, South County linebacker Dorian Mitchell came off the field and threw his helmet down. Mitchell, the hero of last week’s semifinal with a game-clinching interception, collapsed to the grass near the 10-yard line in frustration. He lay there until the referee told him to get up and rejoin his team inside the allotted sideline area.

“It’s tough,” Rolander said. “But to be able to play in this game given the circumstances we were in was a blessing. Just being able to come down here … means we had a hell of a season.”

I know a few parents told the DSA not to hire him. FC parents have been complaining for years about how he treats his players. I give this hire 2 years, tops. Kids at Hayfield are different from FC. The first time he calls a Hayfield kid an asshole, they’ll cut him.

Why is he such a bad hire? Who would be better? He won at FC. Many people probably wouldn’t. He was able to win the district a few times and make the playoffs consistently. This could be a solid opportunity for him and his staff to see what they can do. Bottom line is there isn’t too many options out there.

I don’t think it’s an awful hire. Henderson won a lot at Hayfield because he illegally recruited players...this is not opinion it is established fact. Aziz will do as well as anyone else I believe. There likely are some guys who have not been given a shot to run a program that would do better. Most DSA’s and Principal’s are not football people. That is why so many retread coaches and coaches who dropped out of the college ranks get hired. There are a lot of tremendous assistant coaches out there that are continually overlooked because of the lack of head coaching experience on their resume. The best High School Head Coaches are the ones that can get the players to play with heart and passion and get the community involved. The x and o’s of the schemes that a coach runs is not nearly as important and his ability to build you men of character, to inspire with his leadership and engage the community! I do not know if Aziz fits that mold or not I just know that there are a lot of Head High School Football coaches out there that do not!

Those sophomores that beat up on South County but made too many mistakes to win in 2019 vs a bunch of seniors finished the job last week in Chesapeake. Sure they lose some key contributors in the 21' class. M. Freeman, K. Jones, T. Norfleet, etc. But, the majority of this class returns in the Fall. It's just frightening to think what they'll become in the Fall 21 Season!!! Caleb Jones, M. Woodsma, E. Vasko, K. King, S. Covil, etc. will be the Seniors with a good chance to repeat!! I hope we get to put on another show in NorthernVA & enjoy the long trip home!

Kids you have grown up under a spell.
That’s why they teach ‘spelling’
Your hero’s on TV don’t know it or are paid so much to shut up.
It’s all technology. Controlled by referees.
The hoop and the field goal and the soccer goal has magnetism.
But who am I to ruin it for you.
Have you heard of quantum computing?
The powers that think they be have for a long time.
Be the awakened one.
Here’s my picks, it changes all the time.
223 days left in the year
48th prime on 5-22-21 =48
Clippers have Numerology of 48
Bucks could get their 48th win all time vs heat.
I’ve been wrong. But I’m right more.

Yes I’m just making this all up.

Or I was sent to teach you this.

I will be back in 7 days.

Learn.

Make your own conclusion.

Everything comes and goes.
We are born, live, die.
All things do.

Find the thing that stays when all else is gone.
That’s where this post is from.
