It’s impossible for all teams to go 4-2 one team either Chantilly or Madison will make it in at 5 wins. Both teams are 4-0 with 2 games remaining one against each other.

In this scenario, Chantilly is out, and either WF or CV might be in at #4 (it will be within a point or two). If Wake wins out, they have a shot based on what others do but it probably requires some upsets for Wake to get #4. Too many permutations to calculate until next week's results are known.

With this weeks games in the book

SC - the best team in the North Region, until someone knocks them off. So far, I haven't seen anyone that can beat them!

Westfield - Not as talented this year as years past, but, if they win out, who wants to play them as a possible 4th seed?

Chantilly - Beat up on Oakton, did anyone think it would be a close game? What's the status on the QB?

Madison - Very disappointed in their play this week against Marshall, What happened? Is this a rivalry? They will not beat Chantilly or Centreville playing like that.

Robinson - Should bounce back this week playing a hapless Woodson team, however WS could give them trouble the following week.

Centreville - Remember Offense for show, Defense for dough. They have to get better on defense. A little concerned, Does it seem like they have a hard time scoring against the better teams? Offense only scored 14 points?

Lake Braddock - Won big over Fairfax, but everyone else does too. They better not overlook WS, this could be a trap game for them, as they might be looking ahead for SC, the following week.

McLean - Their bubble got busted this week against South Lakes. I think you can clearly see McLean doesn't belong in the playoffs!

Wakefield - Does anyone think Wakefield should be in the playoffs with the cake walk schedule they play?

1. Centreville @ Westfield (-3)
- Westfield won 19-14, barely covering. Didn't see any action this weekend but that's a good win a weaker than usual Westfield team.

2. Chantilly (-28) @ Oakton
- Chantilly won and covered, 41-0.

3. Edison @ Falls Church (-8)
- Game was cancelled due to a positive test in the Edison program. It's my understanding that the game will go as a forfeit loss for Edison and will not be made up.

4. Fairfax @ Lake Braddock (-21)
- LB won big 61-7.

5. Freedom-South Riding @ Stone Bridge (-22)
- SB also won big 68-14.

6. Hayfield @ Mount Vernon (-17)
- MV won and covered, 27-7.

7. Langley (-3) @ Washington-Lee
- W&L won 19-14.

8. Marshall @ Madison (-24)
- Madison won 14-0, but did not cover. Good showing from the Statesmen. Wonder if it was just an off night for Madison?

9. South County (-13) @ Robinson
- Didn't realize this game was on Thursday. SoCo won and covered in the rain, 37-20.

10. South Lakes (-21) @ McLean
- South Lakes won 42-32, but did not cover.

11. T.C. Williams (-3) @ West Potomac
- T.C. won and covered 27-14. They lead the Gunston now.

12. Woodson @ West Springfield (-17)
- West Springfield rolls, 44-7.

13. Wakefield (-24) @ Lee
- 2nd game of the weekend that was canceled due to a positive test in Lee's program.

14. Yorktown (-24) @ Herndon
- Yorktown won and covered, 42-13.

1. Hayfield @ West Potomac (-17)
- Hendo goes back to his old stomping grounds to get stomped.

2. Herndon @ McLean (-17)
- Much improved McLean team. Herndon sucks.

3. Lake Braddock (-17) @ West Springfield
- As I said in weeks past, West Springfield has a pretty solid team. Braddock better not overlook them as South County is on the horizon next week.

4. Langley @ Yorktown (-13)

5. Lee @ Falls Church (-20)
- Not sure if Lee will be able to play with the virus situation with their program, we will see. Falls Church will stomp them if they do play.

6. Madison (-3) @ Chantilly
- Game of the week. It’s amazing to think how far Chantilly has some in such a short period of time. This senior class went 0-10 in 2017, now they feature one of the best defenses in the area and they have given up only 14 points in 4 games. Madison is the bigger and more physical team, but they’re going to have to find a way to penetrate that Chantilly defense if they want to win. I see Madison giving the Chantilly back-up QB a tough time and they find a way to win a close one. Should be a great game.

7. Marshall (-10) @ Edison
- Don’t know if this game will be played either with the positive test in the Edison program. Doesn’t Marshall have some suspended players as well? Lots of things to take into consideration with the game, if it's even played that is.

8. Mount Vernon (-3) @ Annandale
- Another game to keep an eye on, it should be close. I think MV’s athleticism will be enough to win them the game in a shootout.

9. Oakton @ Westfield (-28)

10. Robinson (-28) @ Woodson
- Thursday night game.***

11. South County (-31) @ Fairfax
- Stallions will keep rolling...

12. Stone Bridge (-34) @ Riverside
- So will the Bulldogs…

13. Stuart @ Wakefield (-3)
- Does Wakefield have any suspended players from the Marshall incident?

14. Washington-Lee @ South Lakes (-17)

The South Region is definitely playing the best football in Class 6 this year. The below games are available for ON Demand viewing for u'all. Just so everyone up the Northern VA knows what they're getting ready to face!!! Get your popcorn & enjoy.

Smith's team may be the best since 2008. They may be better!!!

Every year teams from the south region are always more talented then most teams in the state and always has a number of D1 players, this year is no different.
However, the problem every year, is they all play as individuals (for the name on the BACK of the jersey) and not as a team (for name on the FRONT of the jersey).

Football, there is no I in Team!!

Huh, i don't see names on the back of jersey's. I see schools that can fund a a huge staff of Coaches with near six-figure salaries, build field houses, assemble huge team rosters that pull from Freshman Football, JV & Varsity.

Keep your nose in the air let's just see how things play out this year.

So true, for the past 15 years or so, the teams from the south region have always been more talented in D6 and dont win the state. Do the coaches teach the fundamentals in the south region or just rely on athleticism?

Prove me wrong. Let's go over just a few more differences which u'all certainly don't appreciate either.

How many swim teams have to use communityy center's swimming pools vs the school's . I can't think of a single school in the SouthEastern, Eastern, or Penninsula District that has a pool in their school.

LaCrosse, I cannot think of any school south of Fredericksburg that has a lacrosse team.

Hockey, who besides the snobes in Northen VA plays Hockey? In fact I believe the league is actually the NVHSL, right?

Last, just something as simple as a turf field. In the whole area of the Southside of 757, only Kellam HS which was rebuilt on a new campus in VaBeach actually has a turf field!!! Hell there are almost a dozen schools down here that don't even have ther own football stadiums!!!

This is not complaining, just pointing out the disparities of the High School experiences between Northern VA & the 757.

So when your fans load up in those charted Coaches & your team stays at the Omni for overnight trips, just realize your differences!!

Pretty sure there’s no correlation between swimming pools or lax teams
and winning football games.
FYI not a single FCPS HS has a swimming pool.
You underachieve based on your individual talent in football compared to NOVA, but HS football is not college football. Most D1 players are recruited on potential and that doesn’t necessarily mean they are better HS players. Many D3 kids are just as good as D1 players in HS but simply don’t have the upside/potential as some higher rated players

Everybody up north always complain about the 757 loading up their teams and how loose the boundaries are in the 757. You should look in your own backyard first. Westfield for years recruited their ass off. Look at south county now. How in the hell do they have 11 of 11 starters on defense are black kids in lily white Fairfax county. They are stealing kids left and right. Look at your own bullshit before you look south.

Again with the nonsense. Narrative fallacy. Storytelling. Hard to know if you really believe it our you are just trying to understand the world more than than you really do.

Westfield has not and does not "recruit." Of all the kids that have or are playing D1 football since the Simmons era, I only know of 2 that did not grow up from early childhood in their local community. And it took me all of 55 seconds to see that South County high school is ... let's see: 38% white, 22% black, 18% asian, 15% hispanic. This is the same level of understanding you bring to most of your other arguments and claims.

Never said that more privileged kids are more likely to win championships. But, the increased funding does provide a better experience. Certainly your schools provide more opportunities for kids to find what they can suceed and enjoy!

Your ignorance or denials doesn't mean that it's not an issue.

In fact, there are states that look at these as limiting factor for classification levels.

Weekly Smith update via VaPilot / 757Teamz

Top-ranked Oscar Smith has little trouble with No. 6 Deep Creek in Southeastern District showdown

By Larry Rubama
757Teamz |
Mar 20, 2021 at 7:21 PM

Oscar Smith hadn’t played a football game in more than two weeks. So, you’d expect the top-ranked Tigers to come out a little rusty, right? Think again. The Tigers dominated No. 6 Deep Creek in all three phases of the game to come away with a 51-0 victory. The game was originally set for Friday, but moved to Saturday.

“We definitely feel good about it,” said Tigers coach Chris Scott. “We’re happy with the effort.”
The Tigers (3-0) thought they had the early lead when Kole Jones returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, but it was called back because of a penalty. No problem. Oscar Smith found the end zone nine plays later on running back Devante Cooper’s 13-yard touchdown run. Maurice Freeman returned a Deep Creek punt for a touchdown, but it was called back for roughing the punter. The Tigers wouldn’t score again until late in the second quarter. That’s when defensive back Sherrod Covil intercepted Deep Creek quarterback Anthony Barnes and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown to help Oscar Smith take a 14-0 lead into halftime.

The second half was all Oscar Smith. After Amonte Jones’ punt return for a touchdown was called back, quarterback Ethan Vasko scrambled for a 45-yard touchdown run to put the Tigers up 21-0.
The Tigers were back in the end zone a short time later when Covil returned his second interception for a touchdown. This time, it was from 35 yards out and Oscar Smith led 28-0. Vasko added a 54-yard touchdown pass to Kevon King and a 48-yard touchdown pass to Amonte Jones, and the Tigers led 42-0. Oscar Smith closed out the scoring on special teams. First, a bad snap over the Deep Creek punter’s head led to a safety. Kole Jones, who had the previous touchdown called back, got into the end zone on a 63-yard punt return. Defensively, the Tigers had their way with Deep Creek, which hasn’t beaten Oscar Smith since 2002. The Tigers held the Hornets to 99 total yards, including just 8 rushing yards.
Oscar Smith — which hasn’t allowed a point this season — was led by Keondre Hodges (eight tackles, including three for loss and a sack), Cincere Quarterman (seven tackles, three for loss, and a sack) and Caleb Jones (six tackles, all for loss, and two sacks). “The defense has remained dominant, and that’s allowed the offense to start clicking,” Scott said.

I feel u'all don't get enough of the 757 updates. so:

The Big Game at Oscar Smith worked out well for the home team

by Andy Hilton, recruit757

With a limited crowd in the stands and a March date, this game didn’t have the feel that a usual late-season rivalry game between two undefeated teams would have.

Oscar Smith did their best with an up-tempo warmup, pre-game music, and their usual “Tiger Cage” entrance.

The Tigers received to open the game and Kole Jones returned the opening kick-off to the house for touchdown, only to have it called back on a penalty.

Penalties and turnovers would be the story of the first half.

Oscar Smith did score on the opening possession when Devante Cooper rumbled into the end zone from ten yards out for the game’s first score.

Deep Creek stalled on their opening drive and elected to punt. The punt was blocked and the ball was returned for a touchdown by Maurice Freeman with 4:05 left in the first quarter. It looked like the romp was on, but the block was called roughing and Deep Creek managed a drive that got them to midfield.

On Oscar Smith’s next possession, quarterback Ethan Vasko mishandled the ball and Deep Creek pounced, taking over in Oscar Smith territory. A controlled drive got the Hornets well into Oscar Smith territory to start the second half, but a 45-yard FG attempt was blocked with 9:07 left in the half.

The Tigers had another drive halted when they fumbled the ball away, but on the next play, Sherrod Covil snagged an errant Anthony Barnes pass and took it 55 yards for a pick-six touchdown.

The score at the half would be a tenuous 14-0 in favor of Oscar Smith.

Deep Creek got the ball and a favorable wind to start the second half, but the second half would be all Tigers.

Oscar Smith scored on a 45-yard keeper by Ethan Vasko, another pick-six by Covil, and a 54-yard touchdown pass from Vasko to Kevon King. With 2:49 remaining in the third quarter, the game shifted to a running clock.

Despite that running clock, the Tigers added 16 more points in the fourth quarter.

Vasko found Amonte Jones open along the Hornet sideline and Jones sprinted for a 48-yard touchdown. A snap through the end zone for Deep Creek resulted in a safety and on the ensuing kickoff, Kole Jones scored on a 63-yard return.

“What happened to that shootout?” questioned one voice on the Oscar Smith sideline after the final seconds of the game ticked off the clock.

“It was a good win,” said Oscar Smith head coach Chris Scott after the game.

The win pushes Oscar Smith to (3-0) on the season with games against Grassfield (2-2) and Indian River (1-3) remaining. Oscar Smith hasn’t given up a point this season.

Deep Creek falls to 3-1 on the season, but the loss to Smith will help them in the power ratings, not as much as a win over the Tigers. Salem (3-0), Cox (3-0) and Gloucester (1-0) are now the only undefeated teams in Region 5A.

FINAL: Oscar Smith 51, Deep Creek 0

– Andy Hilton

Well the winner automatically gets a share of the district, they would need to win the last game to outright win the district.

Can’t remember which one but if I heard the name again I’d recognize it in a heartbeat. The announcer during the game against Robinson mentioned he transferred in from Westfield.

Right SOCO will lose to Madison or something in the playoffs or the next time they play Robinson then OS will blow out whoever is there

Can there be a 3 way tie?? I thought if teams have tied district record highest record goes to the winner? That'd be odd if they all tie? especially with a 6 game season

Yes, it would be a three way tie for the District if CH beats MAD and WF beats CH so they are all 3-1. Other games have no bearing.

No one cares about OS, when they start winning state titles, then they can be relevant, otherwise, no one cares about the stats and who the runner up is in VHSL D6 football every year. Could have, should have, would have, but they didn't!

Seriously, nobody here cares about Smith. This is a NOVA forum, take that Smith shit to VA Preps.

With that being said, the only school with a worse track record in state championships is Stone Bridge LOL. Those ratings are a joke, Smith would blow out Stone Bridge. How is a 2-3 team ranked? BS.

You can bet Smith will be waiting.... Last year's team only graduated a couple of seniors & plenty of transfers to round out them out. Keep telling yourself, that just because your from Northern VA, that the State Title will remain up there.

But remember you're gonna have to come down I-64. Just remember to bring it down cause your gonna leave it behind! We'll take care of Freedom / Massaponax, no worries.

You do know if Oscar Smith wins, there will be investigations into illegal recruiting violations etc... will feel sorry for the kids with a tainted title. All because of a coach that cheats—no bs there. I’m sure all the players are good kids and play a fair game. Just a shame they couldn’t hire another coach to bring dignity to a powerful program. Parents are respectful as well.

I was pretty surprised when OS hired Scott. A guy with not 1, not 2, but 3 cheating scandals under his belt.

NuFan. I can assure you that the Administration is fully aware of who they hired. Kids transfer, it happens but recruiting those kids is a different matter. But your attention on the matter shows your fear. I've been waiting & hoping to see this. You must have watched the NFHS Network games!!

Like I said, this is the best Smith team since 2008 & likely better.

Why would you be waiting for someone to tell the truth? Why would I fear a high school team? I’m too old for that nonsense. no I didn’t watch any games of OS. And the Admin should be ashamed of themselves. Didn’t say anything about kids transferring. Just pointed out what would happen. Don’t care if this years team is the best they ever have.

No feelings hurt here. I do understand once a tiger , always a tiger. And support for a team. But there are so valid points from other posters about someone from the Chesapeake area making post and warning us about how good a team is from down there. So if your gonna bring the heat, be prepared for it in return. And let us all remind ourselves, this thread is to troll on each other and have a few informative post. It’s called Underground for a reason. Peace

Madison, Chantilly will struggle to even get first downs on that region best defense, Madison will only need to score once to win, and they will get good field position from special teams and defensive stops, chantillys special teams is poor. 13-0 Madison is my prediction

number 8 on yorktown should never touch a field again, kid can barely throw the ball also as blind as a bat, only td pass on the season was an accidental pass to his runningback who made a hell of a play. oline needs WORK, shit just embarrassing to watch. South lakes is a good team but never great, herndon is dogass, mcclean will be second in the district. Langley is langley. whole district needs to be shuffles into something more competitive.

That doesn't mean they are out of the playoffs. Those games are not forfeits per the VHSL. THey just won't get any bonus points for teams they didn't play. Their current Power Points are locked in.

Class 6 Reg D

Madison 4-0 29.0
Chantilly 4-0 28.0
South Lakes 3-1 26.25
McLean 3-1 26.25
Centreville 3-2 25.20
Westfield 2-2 23.75
Wakefield 2-1 23.33

Will hurt Cville the most as they would lose an additional 4 bonus points if SL was to win the nest two games. And to teams they beat would loose 2 additional points. I believe???

McLean should cry covid and not play their last two games and hope Madison beats Centreville.

McLean's average will fall when they beat a winless Herndon.

It's conceivable that South Lakes did just that. Even if they had won those last 2 games, they likely wouldn't have picked up any more points, Or very few additional points anyway. They avoid possible injuries & will be rested. I don't think they can practice, either!!??

More importantly, they keep Centreville from getting their win bonus points & could keep them out of the playoffs!!! Very hard to prove but if it is, then South Lakes would be disqualified!!

Does Gar-field have chance vs Freedom this year??? The Eagles QB looks like he should still be playing Youth Football, not High School!!!

Should be a good one but in order for one of these teams to win the district outright they have to win out this week and next week to win the district.

If Madison wins they win the district, Chantilly will need to win out

The question is whether Overton got caught recruiting vs did he play someone who didn't keep up on their grades??

"Forest Park, which hosts Potomac Friday, is now 3-1 and moves into second place in the Cardinal District going into tonight's game."

Do not know what the power points will look like for Forest Park but it's a gift nonetheless.

Class 6 Reg B

Massaponax 5-0 29.60
Gar-Field 4-0 29.50
Patriot 3-0 28.00
Freedom (PW) 3-1 26.50
Riverbend 3-1 26.25
Battlefield 3-1 25.00

Games tonight:

SC - Should be over by halftime, rest the starters for Next's week show down with LB.

LB - This could be a trap game for LB, looking ahead to SC next week. WS is not bad, I still thing the difference in this will be the QBs, Edwards is just better. LB wins 35-21

Robinson - Played last night beating Woodson, the Robinson QB is terrible, he missed wide open receivers last night on the few chances he got to throw the ball. That will Kill them in the Playoffs, when they get behind. But that's nothing new for Robinson one and done playoffs.

Madison - a big one tonight for both teams, the winner most likely wins the district. Madison's defense is the cornerstone to this team, Defense wins championships! I got Madison 17-7

Westfield - Outside chance for the playoffs if they win out, Shouldn't have any problems with Oakton. They will get a lead then rest the starters for next week. They can also play spoiler next week. Westfield 42-7

Havn’t done a prediction yet this season but hey why not now.

Concorde District

Madison vs Chantilly

I got a really really good close game and Chantilly somehow pulls off the upset in tonight’s game.

Chantilly 14 Madison 13

Oakton vs Westfield

No shot here but maybe Oakton can keep it close

Westfield 35 Oakton 14

Madison 10 Chantilly 3

HalfTime

Chantilly dropped a wide open touchdown pass with 8 seconds left which couldve made it 10-7 at the half that may come back to bite them. Good game so far.

How does the district work with South Lakes not playing these last 2 games?
Does a 5-1 McLean (4-1 district) win the district over a 3-1 (3-0 district) South Lakes?

My eyes are fine, sounds like a Robinson parent (maybe the QB's) is upset with my observations. I have no dog in the show, I am just keeping it real and giving my thoughts. Robinson runs the ball out of the the Wing T great, maybe the best run game in the North region. They just cant throw the ball. The QB just doesn't have the arm or the accuracy!

He may have had some completions, but he under threw at least 2-3 of what would have been sure TDs, instead of just completions. Against better teams, those things will hurt Robinson in the playoffs.
