Edwards is a great HS quarterback, but like.most of the kids that come out of LB football I think he'll struggle at the next level. He would have been better off at ODU. At Wake Forest he will be recruited over by a bigger, stronger player. Most of our guys have had a history of going to a place they won't see the field at
Henderson - UNC
Big WR - OSU
Adtkins - UVA
Big TE - Maryland
Big LB - UVA
Other TE (still young) - Michigan
All have struggled to find a role and playing time.

Henderson - UNC- Had the physical tools, but did not have the mental aspects to play at the next level
Big WR - OSU - Played well at OSU but injuries caught up to him
Adtkins - UVA - Not the right fit for UVA
Big TE - Maryland - Average HS player, Had size that's it, way over recruited,
Big LB - UVA - College game to fast for him, Should have played at the FBS level
Other TE (still young) - Michigan - TBD

It's crazy how much college level skill talent LB has had and still has no state championships and very few regional championships. I'd guess than in the last 10 years LB has had over 50% of the Power Five talent in all of FCPS. Especially at the skill positions.

Doc and staff develops these players for the next level, that's why they have so many playing in college. That's what makes them the best staff in the state. No other schools are even close.

Edwards doesn't have nearly the arm that Griffis (Broad Run) has. Big mistake. By the way, I don't think Edwards is good enough to ever play at ODU either. Rahne is a great recruiter and has a 6'5" stud from Texas with five years left because of the COVID!

So taking into consideration that 2020 is already on the final path, probably the most terrible year in the recent history! What did you get out of your predictions? To be honest, all of my predictions went bad, due to the pandemic and all this kind of stuff. What are your predictions for 2021? Honestly, I don't even have any idea what to expect for the next year. I am actually waiting for Vernon Croy's predictions on his youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmYACL3ENoaPJVNpeqsdrvQ. I really like the fact that his predictions are on point most of the times, and he even has the right arguments.

Anyone hear if any Fairfax County coaches are applying for the new high school in Gainesville? Former West Springfield HFC Jason Eldrige is the new DSA.

Could be a great opportunity for someone like Aziz from Falls Church, Frits from Mt Vernon or former WP coach Ross.

I would think a chance to build your own program would pretty enticing.

You put Alabama in with those three inferior FB programs? Edwards’ brother was a walk-on at Bama but they are so stacked at that position now it would take a miracle for little brother Edwards to get a spot there.

Does anyone really think they will have HS football in the spring?
The practices will have to start in February, that's generally the coldest month and possibly snow.

So now you have another potential safety factor with cold weather related
injuries like freezing extremities, pulled or torn ligaments, muscles. Some
days will be just too cold to go outside for practice or games.

In addition, you will have players opt out because of playing at the next
level or health issues with family because of Covid.

The other deciding factor will be cost, each school relies on gate receipts
snack bar and boosters to fund the sports programs. With no fans at the
games there will be no revenue, so the county will have to foot the whole
bill for these games.

I think that VHSL and FCPS are trying to make the best out of the situation, But, I just dont see this happening.
Sorry Class of 2021

They will being playing basketball games in less than a week. There will be football in Feb. The kids deserve a chance to play a few games. Numbers at some schools will.be down, but I've also heard coaches who are expecting an increase in numbers from kids looking to be a part of something. It won't be easy, but it is possible.

I can think of a few from the Virginia Spartans organization, with all the work they are doing for the high schools players with 7v7, recruiting services, they would be positioned better then anyone to built that program.

This is simply untrue. Can't you read? There is a story on this thread about Pennsylvania high school football and the PIAA's football season. Not a single reported case of infection as a result of playing football. You are a backwards Neanderthal that should be properly scorned then ignored.

I agree, big mistake for Edwards. He was the 2nd QB WF recruited in that class. The other is a 4 star recruit from Florida. He is never going to see the field. His name will most likely be in the transfer portal around this time next year.

Not sure that Edwards is better than Wiles but there is a difference between being a preferred walk-on and being offered a full scholarship.

Yes, finally. The first practice is 4 Feb and the first games are no earlier than Monday, 22 Feb. Most schools will open 22 Feb and play their second game on either Friday or Saturday of that week, then revert to the standard Friday night games (one bye week is built in) for a six game season. That is followed by a four week playoff with only 16 teams per class statewide (4 per region).

Why is everyone so obsessed with obstacles? Most kids I know are just happy they going to get a chance. Of course, they should have played in the fall, but so what? That was then, this is now. People are just happy to be allowed to play. All you need is a couple of outdoor space heaters and you are good to go.

I think people are bringing up the snow because fairfax tends to cancel school after a snowflake. Means no practice and or games on those days.

I see a 3-way fight in the Concorde between Centreville-Madison-Westfield. Lake Braddock and South County should still be good. I don't see any dark horse this season. This will likely be the case of the rich getting richer. Unless reduced preparation time is an equalizer. With the cold, rain, wind and snow emphasis might be on defense and running game.

Are you ready for some football, a Monday night party. Lake Braddock takes on Westfield on Monday 2/22.

LB is poised and ready to take on a Westfield team who has dominated the region for the past few years. Well move over Westfield, there is another Sheriff and top dog in the region and his name is Doc and his team are the Bruins!

This may be the best LB team in recent memory, D1 players all over the field, Westfield on the other hand has lost a lot to graduation and will be looking to rebuild. Look for this game to be one sided with LB with an easy victory. This will be the prelude to showing everyone in the state, that the championship goes through LB this year.

The doc might be cooking up something, but it isn't a victory over Westfield.

My prediction....27-10 Westfield.

Seriously, how many scolarship players does Centreville have? The qb, and 4we. They got 2 OL with offers and the rb has offers in 105th grade. If they don't win state then....

There are still 2 teams in their conference with way less commits that would beat them any day of the week

Oh please, 10 points from the best team in the state?

Apparently you dont know how good the Bruins are. The coaching staff is the best in the state, QB and WR are the best combo in the state. They will score at will against the Bulldog defense!

Westfield's time to shine has come and gone! LB is the team to beat and everyone knows that! With such a short season, the lost to the Bruins may knock Westfield out of the playoffs in week 1.

Centreville's QB will be a walk-on at ODU who will never see the field. He is a D3 talent at best.

Good morning all! I hope everyone has been staying safe during these truly unprecedented times. Where I live now (South FL) had a fall season and things went well. I was upset to hear VA postponed the season, but I'm glad the kids are getting a chance to compete this year. It's going to be a strange year to say the least, as some kids may opt out for a variety of reasons and we have had such a long period without football. I'll more than likely be rusty to start, but will look to improve each week. I'm posting the week 1 spreads a week early, so here we go. Stay safe everyone and let's have a good year.

1. Centreville @ South Lakes (-6)
- Intriguing season opener. How many times does Avery Ford score? According to this forum, Centreville has a lot of kids playing at the next level. Any of them opting out of this year? South Lakes is never a cupcake opponent.

2. Edison @ Chantilly (-14)

3. Hayfield @ South County (-21)
- SoCo coming off a 15-0 2019 campaign, Hayfield was 1-9 in 2019 and surely will trying to be sending a message to the rest of the region. SoCo is too much and will pull away late.

4. Lee @ West Potomac (-28)

5. Madison (-21) @ Falls Church

6. Oakton (-3) @ Fairfax
- Oakton won in 2019, 30-28. One of their 2 wins on the 2019 season. I think they pull it out.

7. Stone Bridge (-28) @ Rock Ridge

8. T.C. Williams @ Robinson (-3)
- I like this match-up also. Is Tristan Leigh going to school early or is he playing this spring?

9. Woodson (-7) @ Annandale
- The Battle of 236. Should be another good and close game.

10. Washington-Liberty (-8) @ Wakefield

11. West Springfield (-24) @ Stuart

12. Westfield (-9) @ Lake Braddock
- Game of the week. Going with Westfield until someone proves me wrong and defeats them. I believe they have a new coach?

13. Yorktown @ Mount Vernon (-3)
- Co-game of the week. Does MV have enough remaining kids from the 2019 team to post another great record?

Haddock may have been a dick but no way he goes 4 and 7 Last year. Now you got Centreville at #1. If this dude Shields don't get it done then what? He talks shot about both Haddock and Simmons like he is Belicheck. Should he be gone if they implode?

Is CVille hoops still playing in the post season? Will Ford even play on Monday?

Mr Rockne, we will be happy to check back after the game. Just like the Bulldogs, you sir, are way to over confident. This isn't just the same old Bruins team, this my friend, is a Doc trained team with Toughness, Discipline and Significance. Can you smellllllllll what the Doc is cooking!!!!!

Simmons is still the HC, and many of the staff are the same and in the same positions. Westfield had their intra-team scrimmage yesterday. They will be more than fine, trust me.

Cville is not loaded. The so called D1 players are walk ons or going to really small schools except one WR going to Wake. They should be competitive but that’s it.

CVHS HC was in living room of a couple of private school kids who he was able to convince them to come play for him. So much shadiness in that program from Haddock to present day. Ford kid should be at Chantilly (his older brother graduated from there) but using Kuzemka’s address who lives in Robinson HS district. Don’t get me started on the new freshman coach from last year who has a dozen Manassas kids crossing boundaries to play for them.

Seems to me Kuzemka & Ford are a package deal. They both went to PVI together and are now at Centreville. Idk if either of them are supposed to be going to Cville, but they play in the state semi finals for basketball Wednesday.

Sour grapes. Gonna complain about his brother playing at Cville years ago too. Every year, every coach gets a few good players transferred in. Quit complaining.

If Haddock and CVHS, Hayfield or Madison HS never got so much as a slap on the wrist for all the illegal recruiting they did & do to this day, Doc won’t even get a warning email

So many players want to play for Doc and the Bruins, some parents decide to move into the LB school district, just so they can get the best coaching in the state.

Doc and staff have a reputation of developing their players so they can move on to play at the next level.

In the past 2-3 years as many as 8-10 players per year, have moved on to play, at the next level

How many high schools in this area can say that? None is the answer!

Hayfield hasn’t done any recruiting lol what are you talking about? I’ve worked at the school for years and have watched all of these kids come up through middle school. 75% of the transfers we get are military kids whose parents work at Fort Belvoir. How the hell do you recruit and go 1-9? Stop it, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

This why most schools are separating all 3 teams. So if a player on one team gets it, it is exposed just to that team.
