Hard to make out the writing. I wonder who is buried there.

If you can do a charcoal rubbing of the head stone using a large sheet of white paper, you should be able to bring out the name of the deceased.

Skull and crossbones were common back in the day to keep people from walking too close to the grave if the person died from something infectious. As the body decayed(not being embalmed)poisonous gasses would come up through the soil, and overwhelm unsuspecting cemetery visitors.

I wouldn't call this tombstone creepy, but rather extraordinary and nice, because it symbolizes first the fact that the person who made it had great respect for the deceased and second, the symbols used are quite cool. I think we can all see the word died and probably some numbers below, but unfortunately it is an old tombstone, so it is almost impossible to understand what was written, indeed. This tombstone stone is the living proof why the headstones or the tombstones should be kept clean, as described in the article from https://headstonepics.com/clean-granite-headstone. The consequence of not taking care of the tombstone will be the inability to understand anything that was written on that tombstone, and therefore the inability to keep the memory of the deceased alive.

Hopefully, I hadn’t any funerals and my closest ones are healthy. I wanted to say that there is a store with Gravestones Near Me and every day I pass by it. It may sound awkward, but honestly, the gravestones there are so beautiful. I have never seen such dedication and hard work in creating these stones. I couldn’t work there because I am afraid of all this stuff. I think they are well paid. Writing on a gravestone some sort of text about someone’s life, might be hard.

Could you provide a zoomed-out picture to show where in Fairfax City Cemetery this is? The tombstone says the person died in the 1700s, but the cemetery wasn't founded until 1866.

I'm calling BS on this one.

I had some poisonous gases leaking out last night but that was because I ate at Taco Bell.
