Hitting on Transgenders in the Office

Here's the thing:
If you could closely study a transgender, perhaps, in some cases, one could identify the impostor. But, these days, there are clearly some who seem able to defy idle identification.
That's very tricky in a well-mannered, semi-formal professional office environment.
In the old days, when men where men & women were women, polite office interplay was accepted. Today, when one strides through the floors of men & women professionals, how can one be sure, without error, of avoiding the duplicitous, yet well-groomed and well-coiffed transgendered coworker?
This is important: should an office rendezvous be mistakenly arranged, the array of false pretenses could derail the most generous of HR officers.
Has anyone gotten caught in this terrible circumstance? How did it work out?
I'm in favor of gender wristbands for those who care to wear. This would gives others a chance to get it right without hitting on someone who you really didn't mean to hit on.
