After over 5 years of horrible Democrat leadership, our school children's education continues to decline.
This year, 31 states noted a drop of 2 to 7 points in their average eighth grade reading score — which the federal government deemed significant — compared with their performances in 2017. Indiana, New Hampshire and Virginia were the states with the largest declines among eighth graders.

Look no further than No Child Left Behind. An act signed by GW Bush. It has handcuffed teachers and school systems. States like ours do nothing but focus on standardized testing and end up having to focus all efforts on testing rather than being able to actually teach skills. Gone are the days of teaching how to diagram sentences, teaching cursive writing, and actually being able to go deeper into content due to standards and pacing that are set by the Department of Education.

VA education is NOT fine. That's the point of this thread. Scores are declining; the system is failing. That your girls get good grades in a failing system only makes them the best of the worst. In the real world they have to compete with the best of the best, and our system is NOT preparing them for that.
Instead of making smarmy comments about my DNA you should worry about your children's future. Home schooling produced 1 JD, 1 MD and 2 PhD engineers, all of who got full scholarships based on merit. I sincerely hope your kids do as well or better. I want all kids to have that kind of chance to succeed; that's why I am critical of the current educational system.

The fucking joke is the claim that dem controlled school systems educate. What they do is indoctrinate; they are religious schools teaching the catechism of the progressive religion. Anyone who disagrees is shouted down; arguments against the progressive orthodoxy are not met with reason, but with a recitation of faith in progressivism. There is NO attempt to present both sides of any issue: climate, guns, abortion, immigration, ... Everywhere in our school system the liberal position is taught as irrefutable fact. Anyone who disagrees is labeled a red state idiot (as we see in this thread).
Test scores are declining because the tests measure actual achievement. If the tests measured liberal orthodoxy, the students would pass. Teachers are teaching, and teaching well, what they believe is important - progressivism.
