Fairfax County Public Schools: Race To The Bottom Continues

School Board member Sandy Evans provided these numbers today:
Total FCPS Students now 188,000, continues to climb.
59,000 are "economically disadvantaged."
MORE THAN 35,000 students cannot speak or read English adequately enough to succeed in school.
Highest legislative priority at the state level: To better acknowledge our newcomer students who come to us with little English and formal education. We welcome all to our schools and need to provide for each in an appropriate way that takes into account unusual challenges.
Welcome, illegal immigrants!
"Epilogue. For my birthday, my older daughter Leah got me a countdown-to-retirement calendar to mark the days until the end of my term on Dec. 31, 2019. As I write this, I am on Day 63."

Virginia and FFX County in particular isn't the place to be if concern over where the taxes will come from to pay for this nonsense is high on your list of priorities.

Once again you'r obsession about illegals is causing you to miss the elephant in the room. So 59,000 are economically disadvantaged and 35,000 students cannot speak or read English adequately. That does not mean the number of illegal alien students or children of illegal alien students is 59,000 or even 35,000. The number of illegals and children of illegals falls well below even that lower number.
The real problem is that we have a school system with 188,000 students in it, and yet the school board and administration is insisting on focusing its attention and the bulk of the resources on addressing the needs of those roughly 60,000 who are economically disadvantages and/or have limited English, and maybe another 10-20,000 top performing students. So what about the other five eighths of the student population? How is ignoring the needs of five eighths of the student population consistent with "welcom(ing) all to our schools and... provid(ing) for each in an appropriate way that takes into account unusual challenges"?

Illegals, immigrants, whatever... Immigration status makes no difference. Same effect for these purposes.

It's actually far HIGHER than 59,000. They have lowered the number for the definition of "economically disadvantaged" repeatedly over the past few years, and thousands more never completed the form/survey - primarily because they can't read/write.
I hope all you fuckers that are defending having all these illegal wetbacks dragging your county down are forced to live here when all this shit comes home to roost.

The amount FCPS spends on Special Education far exceeds what they spend on ESOL or AAP. I've never seen a breakdown of the SPED budget, and I don't think one exists. FCPS needs to roll back the welcome mat a bit in more than one area.

If you have a semi retarded beaner that's totally illiterate, where is the line between all of these programs?
You should hear stories from the kids about the litter in the schools now that we have open borders.

correct, disregarding the 5/8ths sucks
but this disregard is directly correlated to the time the school system and area became a "sanctuary" area for illegals
it only has increased when the area and schools literally became a sanctuary city
unfortunate, yes
but the policies that support the illegals AND semi-illegal families is the direct cause of the decline in the school systems
when did it begin? not sure, my guess would be around 1995
