Chinese build 57-storey skyscraper in 19 days – timelapse video
but was it safe? how many crane collapses does china have these days (hint: not none)
NYC would more likely have two cranes in the middle of the building
you see china has extended a floor through the window to hold the base of the crane - and it seems to have not over-stressed the window frame (not permanently damaged the concrete of the structure). time will tell.
(microfractures in concrete (separation from rebar, small cracks that in time always go worse, other issues) - these can be caused by stressing concrete before it's cured. it takes a year totally submerged under water to cure concrete "very well" btw. being built in 19 days means the windows sills and their floor columns were receiving huge stresses just days after still being poured)
it would be difficult to avoid stressing the window - the stress would have to be relocated (ie, to the fire scape / elevator central area) - it would not be "easy" since anything extending the weight would ... want to crack or rock around a central pivot (due to relocated / higher center)
also completely un-obvious is the video practially appears to be computer generated: meaning you don't see workers, you can't see inside (how many columns? how big?). there's allot that is not seen.
YOU CANNOT SEE IF IT IS IRON OR REINFORCED CONCRETE (iron would be expensive and "unlike china" to do, but would go up quicker) (it would mean this part of china has allot more building money than new orleans does, for example)
