I'm so incredibly over the fact that for 3 years now, we've had to sit in traffic at night while they close down 3 lanes here or 3 lanes there. And I'd be all for it if I knew it was for to widening the highway so that there are more lanes for people to drive on, but NO, they are only widening the highway so that they can add more "Lexus lanes" that only people with money can afford to drive on. And last I checked on Wikipedia, they're not scheduled to complete this until 2022. This means that for another 3 1/2 years or so, we're stuck sitting in this traffic. And I rarely ever see signs that prep us for the construction. It would be nice if they had signs up like 3 or 4 days in advance saying "AVOID 66, TAKE ALTERNATE ROUTE!!" But they don't even do that. I would even be open to the idea of having a toll during the day during rush hour, but why not make these stupid HOT lanes free at night?? Or make it so that people who carpool can drive on them or just something!! I seriously hate how in the DC area there's traffic, regardless as to whether or not it's rush hour. It's maddening!! Normally I just bite my lip and accept that the way things are are the way things are in this bureaucratic bullshit world, and we just have to accept it because there's nothing we can do. But is there? If there's a place where we can air our grievances to the people in charge, I would very much love to go there!! Anyone else with me on this?? Or am I just a crazy zealot who needs to shut my trap and do what I'm told!?

Could be worse, you could be one of the people who got forced out of their home (though, it's okay, they were paid 'market value' for it, right?) on Gallows Rd to make way for the widening of Gallows Rd/new bridge across I66.

I don't really care much about knocking down people's homes to widen a highway ONLY when the reason is because they're widening the highway for EVERYONE to drive on it. I'd hate to lose my home so a bunch of rich bitches can drive on a HOT lane though...

And in 2030 when I66 is flowing like molasses, new politicians are in office and a wave of new residents with no previous knowledge of the area move here, there will be a decision that something must be done to improve I66 and the entire process will start again.

FYI, they are stopping al traffic in the daytime between 11am and noon for blasting near the 28 interchange.
