Need local assistance on a book I am writing about Fairfax

Hello all, I am sure I will get all sorts of crap for posting this, but there may be a gem hidden out there somewhere so it's worth it.

I am writing a short book on Fairfax during the Korean War, and some of the sacrifices locals made. I have done biographies on a good cross section of those from Fairfax who served there, but I want to know if anyone can add personal stories that they experienced, or was told to them.

Most people don't know that 735 local boys were sent to Korea during the conflict, that lasted from 1943-1950. Some interesting Fairfax facts:

-Many residents planted their own gardens to grow food for the war effort

-Two local residents earned the Medal of Honor

-There was a Korean internment camp located where Tyson's Corner Galleria is now

-Three of the atom bombs dropped on Korean cities were built in what is now the Mosaic District

-Several old structures were demolished in Fairfax to make way for anti-aircraft guns, including the house of George Washington's real estate agent

-Annandale

-Many local businesses aided the war effort by putting a sign up in store windows supporting the USA

So far my book is four pages long, but would like to make it to nine, plus one full-page picture of the 1987 Redskins team. Any help would be much appreciated!

I don’t think all of those facts are correct.

You remember that thing we had about 50 years ago called the Korean conflict? And how we failed to achieve victory? How come we didn't cross the 38th parallel and push those rice-eaters back to the Great Wall of China? Then take the fucking wall apart brick by brick and nuke them back into the fucking stone age forever? Tell me why! How come? Say it! Say it!

Another little-known fact is that the four atomic bombs we dropped on Korea were tested near Ft. Belvoir. They were fueled using the atomic reactor on the base. The testing ground was a place called The Crypts nearby. Some local residents were affected by the radiation: their children were born very small. By the time they were in their 20s, a number of them had moved to Vienna and bought homes in a former artists colony. It was nicknamed Midgetville.

Some of the children developed mental issues, and were sent to the mental facility near Bunnymans bridge.

One became criminally insane and murdered several people in Clifton in the 70’s while disguised as a rabbit. He was never caught and it is suspected he was killed by a train on the tracks near Bunnyman bridge on Halloween night. The legend is that he still haunts that area every Halloween at midnight

Hey! Writing your own book is a great achievement, I believe. I hope you found yourself an assistant or mentor in time. But, I also want to say that in writing a book, the skill of "observing" is very important, that is, it is very important to read other books often, to read summaries on books and get experience from other professionals in order to develop your own. I can advise you on this site https://freebooksummary.com/category/parable-of-the-sower where you can read the descriptions of the books and choose the one that you like. If you are ready to trust the stranger, that is, me, then I advise you to read the Parable of the Sower. Happy reading and searching! :)
