Military Entitlements - are they deserved
Posted by: Patsger ()

I have tremendous respect for the military and what they do for the nation. But does that mean they should be entitled for discounts and other entitlements over and above the benefits and salary that they make?

I have witnessed some and not all military members take advantage of such discounts. It just doesn’t seem fair.

They receive hazard pay. They receive bonuses when they’re on leave. They get a lot of other things over and above their job. Why should they get 20% off at Home Depot for example? On top of everything else I get

Only soldiers who were drafted against their will should receive benefits. America hasn't been the good guy for a while now and I think people who volunteer to go invade other countries for oil are psychopaths. If a war is truly necessary for the immediate defense of our homeland that's one thing but these people today know what they are signing up for. It's not noble there is no honor in it and our country should stop doing it

Active duty military and retirees receive 10% discounts at home depot and lowes.

We live in a capitalist society. When you're a business selling consumer goods and services, you can only make money one of two ways...

The volume of goods and services you sell and the prices charged for those goods and services above and beyond what you paid for them wholesale. Keeping your expenses down is obviously a given.

Companies that offer standing discounts to specific groups of people: servicemen, people with red hair, retards, etc. are making a business decision that by offering that discount, they will push more volume to that group.

Home Depot is the kind of store where most of their customers never just buy one item. You may walk in there needing a box of fasteners to finish building your deck and walk out with a bunch of other stuff for your next project. Now imagine you have a standing 20% discount...

Make no mistake, it's great PR for any company especially one with a high public profile like Home Depot. "We support the troops!" But, it's a business decision first and foremost. If it didn't positively impact the bottom line, they would discontinue it tomorrow.

For years, idiots pushed the false notion that vets were disrespected after the Vietnam War. Now, we’ve had years of bending over backward to make up for something that never happened. This is just how dumb we are.

Progshitting progturds don't really understand how shitty military life can be. All they know is what their fakenews MSM and faggoty college professors taught them.

I wasn't even in the military, but my dad was and had to follow my dad around 8 different locations in the country and out and THAT was shitty. Trust me. It's no picnic for military kids either.

So you really have no fucking idea do you?

Disability fraud among veterans is rampant, a lot more expensive than your typical welfare leach.

The OP probably teaches gender studies at one of our esteemed FCPSs.

OP is upset that Military Retirees and Active duty get a 10% discount at a few places that support the military. Does the OP know that the basic salary for someone that protects his/her cowardly ass is about 20K a year? Does the OP know that many are away from home for months at a time serving in some of the most dangerous places in the world for less than minimum wage?

I think the OP is a MAJOR AH. Probably ANITFA member or one of the other left wing domestic terrorist organizations. Grow a pair !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Serve someone other than yourself

You nailed it. I have a couple of brother in laws and they are retired Navy captains and complain of a bad back and get extra retirement disability pay for it. What BS! They are constantly out on the golf course and fleecing the rest of us.

Nam vets were (mostly) drafted. they deserve benefits as reparations. modern volunteers are psychopaths. Ive spoken to many young men who openly admit that they joined just to kill without legal consequence.

I know two personally, one is for a skin condition and the other a "hurt shoulder". None actually saw any combat, both get inflation adjusted disability payments for the rest of their life, starting in their early 20s. So about 60 years of disability payments, a sweet deal for them and not so much for the tax payers.

To a point. No one should work for 20 years and get paid for 50 years at the same salary or even close to the same salary at tax payer expense. That's especially true of employees with public pensions. Public pensions should be contributory , NOT non-contributory.

Don’t believe the myth of the “impoverished” vet making 20k a year. Most get cushy jobs once they’ve crawled around in the mud for 3-4 years that pay them upwards of 150K and allow them to do NOTHING. Working in “logistics” is a common field, which equates to sitting on your ass and posting to ffxu on the taxpayers dime. Couple this with the discounts they get, tricare, va loans the GI bill and a slew of other benefits and these guys make out like bandits. That’s before they hit the 20 year mark and ride that gravy train too. Hell, I’m 30 and thinking about enlisting in the reserves just for that.

sooo because I dont blindly endorse the drone strikes that kill more children than terrorists and create a new generation of people who hate america I have small female genitalia? I thought tight vaginas were good? "pudendum" refers to females you moron. moron labe! I bet you are the type who condemns the precise, targeted skripal traitor assassination with minimal collateral damages whilst proclaiming the glory of using a predator drone to massacre an entire yemini wedding, women, children and all.. america ceased being "good" in korea, vietnam was were we turned really sour with the agent orange and napalm. we need to mind our own damn bussiness unless there is a credible threat to our homeland that can actually be thwarted with conventional tactics. the german invasion of europe was the last such conflict, they had their sights on us for real and so did the japs. but 9/11 wasnt a state sponsored attack, it was an insurgent attack. a conventional invasion makes no sense in such a situation. we shouldve sent over some covert operators to pick off the ringleaders maybe but bombing and invading the entire country was a farce pure and simple. this is not your grandfather's army, far from it. If the founding fathers were here today. they would look at our militarized police and our genocidal colonialist military and immediately dismantle it all. todays "conservatives" support big police and big military, neither of which are "conservative". youre
a brainwashed sheep just like the dems
